About Golden China

Golden China is a Chinese restaurant located at 1221 S Girls School Rd in Indianapolis, Indiana. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, it aims to provide a variety of Chinese culinary dishes to the local community and visitors. Recent customer reviews indicate that Golden China has undergone a change in ownership, which appears to have significantly impacted the dining experience and the quality of the food, according to at least one long-time patron.

One review offers a nostalgic perspective on the environment and history of Golden China. A former long-time customer recounts fond memories of the restaurant under previous ownership, describing it as their "absolute favorite Chinese food ever," so much so that they would travel to visit it regardless of where they lived. This suggests that under the prior management, Golden China had established a strong reputation and a loyal customer base. The reviewer notes that with the new ownership, the staff are "super sweet and nice," indicating a potentially positive and welcoming service environment in terms of staff demeanor.

The services offered by Golden China likely include both dine-in and takeout options, which are standard for many Chinese restaurants. One review mentions a "large call ahead order," indicating that takeout service is available. However, this review also points out an inefficiency in their process, as the order was not started until the customer arrived, seemingly defeating the purpose of calling ahead. While delivery service is not explicitly mentioned, it is a common offering for Chinese restaurants, and customers may want to inquire about this directly with Golden China. The positive review also mentions the staff being "nice," which contributes to the overall service experience.

The features of Golden China, particularly the food quality, seem to have changed significantly with the new ownership, according to one detailed review. This long-time customer expressed disappointment with the food under the new management, stating that it was "awful" and that they could tell "they cut corners to make the food." They specifically recalled the previous owners making dumplings and crab rangoon from scratch, whereas now, these items appear to be pre-made. This change in food preparation methods has led to a decline in the quality that the customer had previously cherished. While this is just one person's experience, it is a significant piece of feedback for potential customers who may have been familiar with Golden China under its previous ownership.

In contrast, another review offers a more positive assessment of the food, describing it as "great." This reviewer also noted that the portions are "big" and the prices are "very reasonable," suggesting good value for money. They also highlighted the "huge variety" on the menu and specifically praised the "Szechuan wontons." This contrasting feedback indicates that experiences with the food at Golden China under the new ownership may vary, or that certain dishes are still well-received.

The discrepancy in food quality reported by the two reviewers is a key point for potential customers to consider. While one laments a decline in quality due to perceived cost-cutting measures and a shift to pre-made ingredients, the other finds the food to be great with generous portions and reasonable prices. This suggests that the new ownership may be in a transitional phase or that the consistency of food quality might be an area for improvement.

Regarding promotional information, the provided customer reviews do not mention any specific offers or specials at Golden China. To inquire about any current promotions, lunch specials, or discounts, it is recommended to contact the restaurant directly at (317) 390-0688 or +1 317-390-0688. Visiting their location at 1221 S Girls School Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46231, USA, might also provide information about any in-house specials or offers that may be available.

In conclusion, Golden China in Indianapolis, IN, is a Chinese restaurant that has recently come under new ownership, according to customer reviews. While the staff are described as nice and the location is praised by one for its cleanliness, there are contrasting opinions on the food quality. A long-time customer expresses disappointment with a perceived decline in quality due to changes in food preparation, while another reviewer finds the food to be great with generous portions and reasonable prices. Potential local users should consider these differing perspectives and perhaps try Golden China for themselves to form their own opinion on the current state of the restaurant. It may also be beneficial to inquire about the freshness and preparation methods of their dishes when ordering.

Listen baby, I used to come here as a kid. My absolute favoriteeeeee I mean favorite Chinese food ever. No one has ever done it like them, so I would travel no matter where I moved to come and get some of their food. They recently got new owners, and I had high hopes for them, they were super sweet and nice but unfortunately the food was awful. I tried to like it so bad but it just wasn’t good. I can tell they cut corners to make the food and unfortunately you can tell. I remember walking in and seeing the previous owners making their dumplings and crab ragoon from scratch. Now you can tell these foods are already pre made for a company. I wish they would’ve asked for some of the previous owner’s recipes. They will truly be missed and will forever go down in my family’s history as the best Chinese food ever lol. Sorry guys. It’s not the same

They didn't start making our large call ahead order until we arrived, which seems to defeat the purpose. Also failed to send any utensils, which to be fair may have been our fault. But the staff are nice and the food is great. Portions are big and prices very reasonable. The menu has a huge variety and it all seems pretty good. In particular I really liked the Szechuan wontons.
