About Golden Buddha
Golden Buddha is a Chinese restaurant located at 8000 Preston Hwy in Okolona, Kentucky (KY 40219). As a local establishment in the Chinese restaurant category, Golden Buddha aims to provide a range of Chinese dishes to its customers. However, recent online reviews present a somewhat varied picture of the dining experience, with both positive and negative feedback regarding the food and service.
One first-time customer reported a positive experience, stating that their visit was "soo good!!" and that the service was also good. They specifically mentioned that their General Tso’s chicken was "nice and hot!!" and expressed their intention to return, indicating a satisfying initial impression. This suggests that Golden Buddha is capable of delivering enjoyable meals and satisfactory service at times.
In contrast, another customer who visited more recently expressed disappointment with their meal. They ordered the pineapple chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. According to their review, the chicken was "flavorless," and the other components of the dish, including the pineapple, green pepper, red pepper, and sauce, seemed "muted," which they found unusual. Furthermore, the rice was described as being more like steamed rice rather than fried rice, which was not what they were expecting. Despite the presence of plenty of other ingredients with the chicken, the lack of flavor made it difficult for them to finish the dish. This negative experience was particularly noteworthy as they were dining with friends who were fond of the restaurant, having only ever tried the special fried rice and having limited experience with Chinese cuisine elsewhere. The reviewer did note that the egg roll and fortune cookies were good, and the rice was acceptable, albeit not what they anticipated. A minor point of dissatisfaction was that only two fortune cookies were provided for a group of four.
Service also emerged as a point of concern in another review. A customer recounted waiting at the counter for an extended period to request straws, observing that two staff members were engrossed in their phones and did not initially notice them. When they finally got their attention, one of the staff members reportedly argued that straws had already been provided and seemed reluctant to give more until the second staff member clarified that no straws had been placed on the food tray. This interaction was described as "very strange" and unnecessary for a simple request.
Adding to potential service-related issues, one of the reviewers mentioned that a friend was charged a dollar for a drink refill, which they found odd as they were "not used to paying for refills here in America." This policy regarding drink refills might be unexpected for some customers and could influence their overall perception of the value offered at Golden Buddha.
The most critical review summarized the dining experience by stating, "I've eaten better Chinese at mall food courts. Not interested in going back." This stark assessment suggests a significant level of dissatisfaction with the food quality compared to more casual and often less expensive options. It underscores the inconsistency in the reported food quality, as it sharply contrasts with the positive initial experience of another customer.
Based on these reviews, the environment of Golden Buddha is not explicitly described. There is no mention of the restaurant's decor, cleanliness, or overall ambiance. Similarly, detailed information about the full range of services offered (dine-in, takeout, delivery) is not provided, although it can be inferred that at least dine-in and takeout options are available. Specific features that might distinguish Golden Buddha from other Chinese restaurants in the area are also not highlighted in the current feedback, with the exception of the potentially unusual policy regarding paid drink refills.
Promotional information is entirely absent from the provided reviews. It is unknown whether Golden Buddha offers any special deals, lunch specials, or other promotions to attract customers. To inquire about such offers, as well as their menu and hours of operation, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly at their phone number: (502) 968-7700 or their mobile number: +1 502-968-7700.
In conclusion, the customer reviews for Golden Buddha Chinese Restaurant in Okolona, KY, present a mixed bag of experiences. While one customer enjoyed their General Tso’s chicken and found the service good, others reported issues with the flavor and preparation of dishes like the pineapple chicken and fried rice, as well as concerns regarding service attentiveness and the policy on drink refills. The stark contrast in feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in food quality and service. For local users considering dining at Golden Buddha, it would be prudent to weigh these recent experiences. The positive first-time impression indicates that a satisfying meal is possible, but the negative reviews highlight potential pitfalls in terms of food flavor and service. Without more information about the restaurant's environment, features, and any promotional offers, potential customers should consider contacting Golden Buddha directly for more details or perhaps look for additional, more recent reviews to form a well-rounded opinion before visiting or ordering.

Customer Reviews
First time here and it was soo good!! Service was good! My general Tso’s chicken was nice and hot!! Will be back.
We were there last night and I was disappointed. I got the pineapple chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken was flavorless and the other flavors (pineapple, green pepper, red pepper, and some sort of sauce) seemed to be muted, which was weird. The rice was more like steamed rice rather than fried. At first I was confused at the chicken having no flavor despite there being plenty of the other ingredients in with it but after a few more bites I had to struggle to finish it. We had gone there with friends who love the place and I didn't want to hurt their feelings since they had really talked it up to us. They had only ever tried the special fried rice so they had no idea how anything else tasted. Plus, I found out later while eating, they've never had Chinese anywhere else so they have nothing to compare it to. The egg roll and fortune cookies were good. The rice was OK but I was expecting fried not steamed rice. We only got two fortune cookies though and there were four of us. I went up to the counter shortly after getting our drinks to ask for straws and stood there to see how long it'd take the two ladies to notice me. One had her back turned away from the front counter and both of them were completely absorbed in their phones. I got tired of waiting and got their attention. One of them initially tried to argue with me that they had given me straws and acted like they weren't going to give me any until the second lady said she hadn't put any straws on the food tray. Very strange to have such a to-do with a customer asking for two straws. One of our friends wanted a drink refill and paid a dollar for it. Not used to paying for refills here in America so I thought it odd. I've eaten better Chinese at mall food courts. Not interested in going back.
This was the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I bought the orange chicken and the taste was terrible and chicken looked like mystery meat. I also got the peppers and beef the meat was tough absolutely no flavor watery sauce. Myself and my son couldn’t even take more than a couple of bites before we had enough. I paid $24 for two plates not worth it.
Kung Pao chicken was horrible the sauce was thick like gravy and nasty as I’ve ever had
Asked for chicken fried rice no veggies and orange chicken. The orange chicken is spicy, never had spicy orange chicken before and the fried rice tastes like boiled rice n doesn't look like fried rice . Will not be eating there every again....
