About Golden Bird Chinese Restaurant

Golden Bird Chinese Restaurant, categorized as a Chinese Restaurant, is located at 123 Saratoga Rd # 19, Scotia, NY 12302, USA. You can contact them at (518) 384-3300 or via mobile at +1 518-384-3300.

Based on recent customer feedback, Golden Bird Chinese Restaurant offers a range of Chinese cuisine for takeout. One customer particularly enjoyed the Pineapple Chicken with Egg Fried Rice, Vegetable Egg Roll, and Crab Rangoon, finding the price of a little over $31 before tip for these items to be fair, especially considering the generous portion of the chicken dish. The order was prepared quickly within 15 minutes and remained warm despite a delay in pickup.

The Crab Rangoon was well-received, with a good amount of filling. The Vegetable Egg Roll was also noted as good, although one reviewer mentioned a slight sour aftertaste after the first bite. The Pineapple Chicken was described as having plenty of vegetables, a good proportion of meat, and a pleasant slightly spicy flavor. The accompanying Egg Fried Rice was flavorful with large chunks of fried egg, although it was noted to be a bit oily.

It's worth noting that some older feedback suggests a change in quality and pricing since a change in ownership. Some customers who enjoyed the restaurant under previous management have expressed concerns about higher prices, smaller portions, and a difference in taste, potentially due to a new food supplier. However, a recent review indicates a positive experience, suggesting that the current quality is still satisfactory for some.

For local users in Scotia, NY, Golden Bird Chinese Restaurant offers a convenient option for takeout Chinese food with a varied menu including dishes like Pineapple Chicken, Egg Fried Rice, Vegetable Egg Rolls, and Crab Rangoon. It is recommended to consider both recent and past reviews when making your decision. Uncle Roger would approve. Hadn't had Chinese in over a year, so I felt like it was time to break that combo and order some take out from the Golden Bird, as it is a location I pass by all the time on the way home. Ordered over the phone, going with the special of the week, Pineapple Chicken with Egg Fried Rice, a Vegetable Egg Roll, and some Crab Rangoon. All together coming to a little over $31 before tip. I feel like this was a pretty fair price, given the heft of the chicken dish alone. Order only needed 15 minutes to be done, though I was held up by traffic, and yet it was still nice and warm by the time I got everything home and set out. The crab rangoon, as I expected, was delicious. Never had bad crab rangoon before, kind of hard to mess up, but I guess you can get shorted on the filling. Not the case here though. The egg roll was also pretty good, though I will say it had a slightly sour-ish aftertaste. It only happened after the first bite, so maybe it did not vibe well with the rangoon? As for the chicken, well, it was a lot. Tons of veggies, good proportions of meat, and a nice slightly spicy flavor that just lit the top of my tongue ablaze. The egg fried rice, my choice of accompanying side, was also real good. It was a bit oily, which was weird, perhaps they used fresh rice instead of day-old? But the flavor was still there and it had nice large chunks of fried egg. Yummers. Saw quite a few people saying this place has changed for the worse, but I'd disagree, it was fine by me.

The Bird isn't what it used to be. It was excellent under the previous owner with good quality, hot and tasty Chinese food. Ever since new owner took over it hasn't been the same...much higher prices, smaller portions, different food supplier because many of the dishes, appetizers, soups, etc just don't taste the same.

I was very surprised by the small portion sizes and higher than expected cost. I almost thought there was an error in what I paid or the size of the containers of food I was given. $63.29 worth of food and it barely fed 3 adults. We ordered two orders of crab rangoon for $7.85 each and they were miniature. A really small marble’s worth of filling in each crab rangoon. So tiny. The large boneless spare ribs for $16.95 was a not that big at all. It almost looked like a small side portion. Did I mention it was almost $17?!?! A large roast pork fried rice container was the size of a normal medium sized rice container and it was $11.45… for roast pork fried rice!! Three egg rolls at $2.35 each. And, a small sweet & sour chicken order for $7.45. Also much smaller than expected and it came with the tiniest container of white rice I’ve ever seen. Price inflation is one thing, but the significant portion size decrease is another. The food tasted good, not great, but maybe the amount that was paid for so little food impacted its enjoyment. If the picture seems like these are normal sizes, for comparison, the sweet & sour sauce containers came in 4 ounce soufflé cups. The fortune cookies should also help to provide size perspective.

Ordered the chicken chow mein combo and it was not good. I order this when getting chinese and it's usually good but not this time. And the fried rice tasted rancid. Partner got lo mein combo and it was very bland. Won't order again anytime soon This happened on News Years Eve. It was roast pork chow mein not chicken

I was disappointed to hear the last owners retired, but decided to order. I looked over menu to see prices jacked. My favorite has always been the boneless spares ribs, almost $17.00 for a large order. Got home and was excited to taste it. The sauce delicious, but as I went through it, all of it most mostly pure fat. My crab Rangoon had maybe a dime size amount in it, for almost $8,00 for 12. This picture is the pure fat and pretty much our whole meal. 🥺
