Since my family trying to get me to eat because I’m in Michigan for my father’s funeral I decided I’ll try some Soup Dives. I used to love it when I lived here! The gumbo was my favorite. I ordered a 16ounce of gumbo(that I just threw in the trash) the gravy was so d*** thick I think they got it from a Chinese food place! I got my rice on the side. They gave me a 4 ounce cup of rice to go with a 16 ounce gumbo. Oh and did I mention my shrimp were d*** near raw! However I called before I even opened the gumbo because I was really confused on the amount of rice to with a 16 ounce container of soup. The lady who answered the phone who I believe was the owner phone etiquette was very rude. She was more confrontational and definitely gave off “I don’t care… it is what it is” vibe. I politely told her I would never order again. Since someone picked up the food for me I didn’t know what was in the bag. But if the person who picked up the food had told me her recent experiences and the attitude of the owner I would have never ordered from them.

The food here is definitely made with love and soul. It's great customer service. They have recently upgraded their space, and I love it. It's one of the places you can go to late and still get an amazingly great tasting meal. I've had the salmon chowder, the turkey chop sandwich (delicious), and the homemade dressings are too live for. This is definitely a staple for lunch and now dinner.

Today was my first time at Soup Dive. There was no one to greet me upon entry. There's a kiosk for ordering. Lack of personal interaction was a little off-putting, but I realize that is the wave of the future. It may be more efficient and cost saving, but definitely no "warm fuzzy". After a couple of minutes, a lady emerged from the back and told me to let her know if I had any questions. Then, she returned to the back. The kiosk was easy to navigate with detailed descriptions of the menu items. I ordered the black eyed peas and kale soup, and I added cornbread. The soup was very tasty. However, there were exactly three small pieces of kale. That didn't look like the picture! I was looking forward to the kale. Good thing I really like black eyed peas. The cornbread was also tasty. It was tightly fit inside a small plastic baggie. It broke as I tried to pull it out of the bag. Unfortunately, the top of the cornbread stuck to the bag. I was scraping the top from the inside of the bag. These disappointments are the reason for 4 stars, and they are minor compared to the great taste. However, I won't make a special trip to return. I made a special trip today. If I'm in the area, I'll stop in.

I work and live in the area and with so many convenient options that I just don’t want, soup dive is a breath of fresh air. I love the menu options. Everything I have tried so far has exceeded my expectations. The pricing is easily affordable in today’s economy. I absolutely love the convenience of the online ordering, my goodness. I just truly appreciate this business!

I’ve been here many time. I’ve only had the salmon chowder and grilled cheese from here before. Those items where really good. Today I tried the tuna sandwich. Pretty good. I always get a side of dive sauce.
