About Gao Thai Kitchen

Gao Thai Kitchen is a Thai restaurant located at 63 W Main St, Ramsey, NJ 07446. They can be contacted at (201) 962-2691 or +1 201-962-2691.

The restaurant has received varied customer feedback. Some patrons have expressed high praise, highlighting the "flavors galore," clean environment, beautiful plating, and lovely staff. These customers consider it a "spot on" dining experience and recommend it as a must-try.

However, other reviews present a contrasting view. Some customers, who consider themselves "avid Thai food fans" and "world travelers," found the dishes to be "bland" and not authentically Thai. They specifically mentioned the Som Tum Thai (papaya salad) and Pad Kee Mao as lacking the expected flavors and containing ingredient substitutions that deviated from traditional recipes. For example, they noted the use of regular green beans instead of long string beans, and the absence of typical ingredients like bamboo shoots.

Additionally, while the Thai Jungle stir fry with shrimp was noted for its generous portion of shrimp, the spiciness level was perceived as significantly lower than requested. Despite these criticisms, the restaurant was acknowledged for its "impeccable" service and popularity among the local crowd, with a high volume of take-out orders.

In summary, Gao Thai Kitchen appears to offer a dining experience that caters to a broad range of palates. While some customers appreciate its flavors and service, others find the food to be less authentic. Potential diners may want to consider these varying opinions before visiting.

Since we are avid Thai food fans, we were on a quest like Don Quixote. I read the google tea leaves and we ended up here. Spot on, flavors galore. No doubt this should be your next stop. Staff was lovely, place was clean, platings were beautiful. We will be back. 🤗👍👍

We ate at this place because the restaurant that we wanted to go to had an hour and a half waiting time, in the middle of a thunderstorm, so we had to settle for less. Looking through the windows I didn't think it was an authentic Thai restaurant, but more of the kind that caters to Western palates. Sure enough, both the Som Tum Thai (papaya salad) and the Pad Kee Mao were quite bland. I was especially unimpressed with their substitution of ingredients: e.g. instead of the long string beans, they used normal green beans (much cheaper, too soft for the bite, and the wrong taste), while the usual bamboo shoots etc were all missing. When my husband ordered the Thai Jungle stir fry with shrimp, the waitress asked if he could handle level 4 spiciness ... what spiciness? It was barely a level 2 for our preference. The only redeeming quality of that dish was the generous amount of large shrimps ... worth the price they charge I guess. Service was impeccable, and it was definitely popular with the local crowd, as the take-out orders were pouring in. It may be good enough for people unfamiliar with Southeast Asian cuisines, but it certainly came short for this family of world travelers!

We were visiting the area and didn’t want to eat at a chain restaurant. Very happy with this quaint Thai restaurant with lovely outdoor seating. The menu gives you just enough to order a good amount of food. The dishes were very tasty and authentic. They have an onsite parking lot that makes it much easier to access the outdoor eating area. The noodle dishes were delicious and so was the calamari but the real dish of the night was the whole snapper with ginger sauce and shrimp. It’s great. We finished with dessert and ordered mango sticky rice which was excellent. Highly recommend it here ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Can't beleive I've never been here before, but my friend took me here last night and I was very impressed. Chicken satay was delicious, and that peanut sauce! To die for. The massaman short rib was definitely my favorite, and was great with a side od sticky rice. Pad thai was also excellent. Service was great aswell. Wish they had mango sticky rice, but what a great spot!

How this place has good reviews has got to be the 8th wonder of the world. Some friends wanted to go out and asked if I wanted to do Thai food. I said sure (not remembering when the last time I had Thai food) and we end up at this place. As soon as I saw the place I remembered it instantly from someone telling me the place smelled like a wet dog inside and the food was disgusting. I didn’t want to tell my company I wanted to eat elsewhere so I decided to order and see if I would enjoy it. Surprise surprise, the inside smelled like a wet dog. Somehow the restaurant was almost full, equally baffling. The atmosphere, the interior and exterior of the restaurant itself, and the staff just scream low quality establishment; so I knew there was a very high probability I was not going to like the food. Well I ordered what I thought would be the highest probability dish of me actually being able to successfully consume without regurgitating.. beer stir fry. As soon as they set it on the table I knew I wasn’t going to like it. Cut a piece of beef in half and ate it, barely being able to swallow it. This had to be the most disgusting food I have ever, and I mean ever.. tried in my entire life. Just look at this dish and tell me it doesn’t look like $5.95 take out Chinese food from Atlantic City that’s sat outside for 72 hours. The waitress came by a couple minutes later to ask how the food was and I said I wasn’t going to eat the meal and she said they won’t take it off the bill. I replied “I’m not paying for it.” And a few minutes later a different woman came out demanding answers specifically about what was wrong with the meal. I settled on perhaps the beef is expired because it tastes like the cow may have died in 1999. They arrived later with the check minus this dogfood dish and I went straight to pick up dinner from the Cheesecake Factory. It’s like going from prison straight to a 14 day cruise.
