About Fuyi Kitchen
Welcome to Fuyi Kitchen, a Chinese Restaurant situated at 10472 Garvey Ave, El Monte, CA 91733, USA. Fuyi Kitchen offers a diverse menu featuring a range of Chinese culinary options, from roasted meats to comforting noodle soups and flavorful seafood dishes. Based on customer reviews, the experience at Fuyi Kitchen can be varied, with some dishes receiving high praise while others have been met with less enthusiasm. It’s a local spot that seems to have its strengths and areas where potential customers might want to be aware of certain aspects.
One of the initial points highlighted by a customer was a significant language barrier, noting that the three staff members encountered spoke no English. While this customer was still able to order, it's a factor that potential English-speaking patrons should be aware of. The reviewer suggested that bringing someone who speaks Mandarin or using visual aids like pictures might be helpful for a smoother ordering process. This indicates that the primary language of communication within the restaurant may be Mandarin.
Despite the language challenge, this customer did manage to try the crispy roasted pork, which was the initial reason for their visit after another nearby establishment was unexpectedly closed. While the flavor of the roasted pork was described as "decent," the lack of crispiness in the skin was a disappointment, suggesting potential inconsistencies in food preparation or freshness, particularly near closing time. The reviewer also encountered an issue with the quantity ordered, receiving 1.5 pounds when they believed they had agreed to one, although they were content with the leftovers.
The same reviewer also attempted to order Hainan chicken and rice but was offered what appeared to be duck instead, which was confirmed to be duck and not prepared in the Hainanese style, nor served with rice. The flavor of the duck was described as "not very flavorful," leading to the reviewer eating only half of the portion. This experience suggests that some menu items might not meet expectations or descriptions.
However, not all feedback for Fuyi Kitchen has been negative. Another customer who was looking for a noodle soup spot in the area had a much more positive experience. This suggests that certain dishes at Fuyi Kitchen are well-received. This reviewer ordered the mayonnaise shrimp, BBQ pork noodle soup, and wonton soup, among other items. The mayonnaise shrimp was described as "excellent" and comparable to the popular walnut shrimp found in other locations, indicating a potentially standout seafood dish.
The BBQ pork of the noodle soup was also praised as "delicious," and the broth was described as "on point," highlighting the quality of their noodle soup offerings. This positive feedback indicates that Fuyi Kitchen could be a "great spot to get some noodle soup," as per this reviewer's conclusion. This suggests that their noodle soups might be a specialty or a consistently good choice.
Based on the contrasting reviews, the quality and consistency of dishes at Fuyi Kitchen might vary. While some items like the mayonnaise shrimp and BBQ pork noodle soup receive high praise, others, such as the roasted pork and the "chicken" (which turned out to be duck), have been less satisfactory. This variability might be influenced by factors such as the time of day or specific preparation on a given day.
The environment of Fuyi Kitchen is not explicitly detailed in the reviews. However, the mention of "aunties" working there suggests a potentially casual and family-run atmosphere. The focus in the reviews is primarily on the food and service aspects, with limited information about the decor or overall ambiance of the restaurant.
In terms of services, Fuyi Kitchen likely offers dine-in and take-out options. One reviewer mentioned taking food home, implying that take-out is available. The service experience seems to be primarily functional, with the language barrier being a notable challenge for some customers. However, the positive reviewer did not mention any issues with service, suggesting that the quality of service might also be inconsistent or that some staff members may be more adept at communicating with English speakers.
Features of Fuyi Kitchen could include their diverse menu, with offerings ranging from roasted meats to seafood and noodle soups. The mayonnaise shrimp appears to be a unique and highly recommended item. The potential for authentic flavors in some of their dishes is also a feature, as indicated by the positive feedback on the noodle soup. However, the inconsistency in quality and the language barrier are also notable aspects that potential customers should consider.
No specific promotional information was mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in dining at Fuyi Kitchen may want to inquire directly about any ongoing specials or promotions when contacting the restaurant.
In conclusion, Fuyi Kitchen in El Monte presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews. While some dishes, like the mayonnaise shrimp and BBQ pork noodle soup, have received high praise, there are also reports of inconsistency in food quality, particularly with the roasted meats, and a significant language barrier with the staff. For local users looking to try Fuyi Kitchen, it might be advisable to be prepared for potential communication challenges and to perhaps focus on dishes that have received positive mentions, such as their noodle soups and the mayonnaise shrimp. Visiting during non-closing hours might also improve the chances of experiencing fresher preparations. As with any restaurant, individual experiences can vary, and Fuyi Kitchen offers a range of options that might appeal to different tastes. For more information or to place an order, you can contact them at (626) 416-5350 or +1 626-416-5350, keeping in mind the potential language barrier.

Language barrier was definitely an issue on this trip. Three “aunties” working and none spoke a word of English. That’s not the real issue though, as I was able to get what I went for which was some crispy roasted pork. Ruby down the street was closed (even though they were supposed to be open), so I searched and found Auntie’s. Ideally, I would have ordered a two item combo as I saw in a previous order pictured, but didn’t find it on the menu. Oh well, pointed to it hanging and settled for a pound, which I assumed was the minimum since they kept saying “one pound” over and over :). I agreed, but then it came to 1.5lbs and I’m the only one eating. No biggie. I love left overs. I wanted some hainan chicken and rice to offset the richness of the pork, but they pointed to what looked like a duck, but said it was chicken. Not hainan style and no rice, but I’m tired and getting hungry so asked for half only. Once I get home and try the “chicken”, I’m confirmed it’s duck and it’s not very flavorful. Oh well, I just won’t eat as much and have plenty of leftovers. Then I get to the roasted pork which looks great, but once intook a bite, I realized the piece has been there all day and was chewy instead of crispy. Decent flavor, but not great and without the crispy skin, total bummer. A couple of minutes in the air fryer and lots of siracha made it edible. Again, not bad but not all that good either. Oh well, at least infelt like I helped a small business of auntie’s :) Pro tip: don’t go near closing time. Take pics of what you want or take someone who speaks Mandarin :)
I was in the area with my friend & we were looking for a noodle soup spot. This had some great reviews and the pictures looked good. I ordered the mayonnaise shrimp, bbq pork noodle soup, wonton soup and others. The mayo shrimp was excellent and reminds me of walnut shrimp at other locations. The bbq pork of the noodle soup was delicious and the broth was on point. I would definitely come back and try their other menu items. Parking was descent and a great spot to get some noodle soup.
Great Hainan style chicken. Perfectly poached for both white and dark meat. Exceptional value as well. Lots of food, top quality, extremely reasonable price. If they were hipsters they could easily charge double for their dishes
Amazing food and good prices. Very authentic Cantonese delicacy. Taste like you aunties homemade cooking. My fav is the beef stew rice noodles(not in picture because I ate it so fast LoL) . The hainanese chicken were super as well!!!
The Hainan chicken rice is good. Prices are decent. The noodles added to the soup dishes are kinda blan.
