About Full House Cafe
Welcome to Full House Cafe, a Chinese restaurant situated at 1456 East 14th Street in San Leandro, California. This establishment presents itself as a local cafe with a notable distinction: it is recognized by some patrons as a "hidden gem for Cantonese" cuisine, offering flavors reminiscent of those found in Guangdong, China. Additionally, it uniquely features a yogurt bar within its premises, providing a diverse range of options for its customers.
Regarding the environment of Full House Cafe, one reviewer describes it as a "good local cafe with a yogurt bar in it." This suggests a casual and neighborhood-friendly atmosphere, likely catering to local residents seeking both a meal and potentially a refreshing yogurt treat. The presence of a yogurt bar alongside traditional Chinese fare is an interesting and perhaps unique aspect of this establishment, indicating a broader appeal beyond just Cantonese cuisine. However, another reviewer simply refers to it as a "hidden gem for Cantonese," focusing more on the authenticity of the food than the ambiance itself. Overall, the environment seems to be that of a comfortable, local cafe with an unexpected addition of a yogurt bar.
In terms of services, Full House Cafe functions as a restaurant serving Cantonese cuisine and also operates a yogurt bar. This dual offering allows customers to enjoy a full meal and then indulge in a dessert or snack from the yogurt bar. One reviewer found the seasoning to be "authentic but not that decent," which is a somewhat mixed assessment, suggesting that while the flavors might be traditional, the overall execution might not be universally praised. However, another reviewer had a significantly more positive experience, emphasizing the authenticity of the Cantonese dishes. The availability of both dine-in and potentially takeout services can be inferred from its categorization as a cafe and restaurant, though specific details about delivery options are not provided in the reviews.
A significant feature of Full House Cafe, according to one enthusiastic reviewer, is the authenticity of its Cantonese cuisine. They explicitly stated, "this place is a hidden gem for Cantonese! The taste is identical and similar to what I ate in Guangdong China growing up." This strong endorsement suggests that for those seeking genuine Cantonese flavors in the San Leandro area, Full House Cafe could be a highly satisfying option. This focus on authentic Cantonese cooking sets it apart and could be a major draw for individuals familiar with or seeking this specific regional Chinese cuisine.
The reviews also highlight specific dishes that are recommended. One reviewer suggested the "Clay pot (Frog)" and the "turmeric Pork stomach with Chicken" as being "good enough for a neighborhood cafe." This indicates that these particular dishes are noteworthy and worth trying. However, they found the "Eel" to be "just okay," suggesting that not all dishes might be equally exceptional. The other reviewer, who praised the Cantonese authenticity, specifically recommended two dishes in Chinese: "酸菜鱼 (suāncài yú)" and "砂姜猪肚 (shā jiāng zhūdù)." While the English translations are not directly provided by the reviewer, "酸菜鱼" typically refers to fish with pickled vegetables, and "砂姜猪肚" translates to sand ginger pork stomach. These specific recommendations from a reviewer who found the taste to be identical to that of Guangdong cuisine further emphasize the authenticity and potential quality of these Cantonese specialties.
The presence of a yogurt bar is another distinctive feature of Full House Cafe. While not directly related to its Chinese cuisine, it offers an additional option for customers, perhaps as a dessert or a lighter alternative. The reviews do not provide extensive details about the yogurt bar's offerings, but its existence suggests a broader appeal and a willingness to cater to different tastes within the same establishment.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not mention any specific deals, discounts, or special offers currently available at Full House Cafe. Local users interested in learning about any promotions should contact the restaurant directly at (510) 969-7025 or mobile at +1 510-969-7025. They could inquire about daily specials, lunch menus, or any other offers that might be available to customers.
In conclusion, Full House Cafe in San Leandro offers a unique combination of authentic Cantonese cuisine and a yogurt bar, situated at 1456 East 14th Street. While one review offered a somewhat mixed assessment of the overall quality, another strongly praised its Cantonese authenticity, comparing it favorably to the flavors experienced in Guangdong, China. Recommended dishes include the Clay pot (Frog), turmeric Pork stomach with Chicken, 酸菜鱼 (fish with pickled vegetables), and 砂姜猪肚 (sand ginger pork stomach). The presence of a yogurt bar adds another dimension to this local cafe. For local users in San Leandro seeking genuine Cantonese flavors alongside the option of a yogurt treat, Full House Cafe presents an interesting culinary destination. It is advisable to try the specifically recommended Cantonese dishes to experience what some consider a true taste of Guangdong.

A good local cafe with a yogurt bar in it. Authentic seasoning but not that decent. Good enough for a neighborhood cafe. I’ll recommend the Clay pot (Frog) and the turmeric Pork stomach with Chicken. Eel is just okay.
this place is a hidden gem for Cantonese! The taste is identical and similar to what I ate in Guangdong China growing up. Get 酸菜鱼 and 砂姜猪肚。 so good.
TL;DR; Food was above average, but dessert was a bit disappointing. Came here for dinner on a Friday night around 6 pm. The place was quiet with only one single customer besides us. We were greeted and seated upon arrival and offered hot tea. We decided on curry beef fried rice, chicken curry, and a side of fried fish. The food came out quick and hot. All three items were tasty. The chicken in the curry was tender, and the curry beef fried rice had nice flavor with a hint of spice. However, service was a bit lacking. There were three staff, but only one person up front, so I had to walk up to the counter to order dessert and later to pay for the bill. For dessert, we ordered a Ube cheesecake, coconut milk with black rice, and yogurt with assorted fruit. All three desserts were mediocre. Especially the cheesecake. The cheesecake was dense and tasted powdery. Overall, I don't think we will be back.
Their rice yogurt that they sell at markets is amazing! Comes with fruit and is just a fantastic treat! I love yogurts and was skeptical about rice yogurt, but it turned out to be delicious!
Quality has gone. Noodle soup tastes like water without any taste. Wonton and pork rib changfen claypot seem to be made of bad parts of rib. Disappointed
