About Fuh Wah
Fuh Wah is a Chinese restaurant located at 764a E 149th St in the Bronx, New York. As a local establishment within the Chinese restaurant category, Fuh Wah aims to provide Chinese cuisine to the surrounding community. The restaurant can be contacted by phone at (718) 665-0993 or via mobile at +1 718-665-0993 for inquiries or to place orders.
Based on the limited customer reviews available, experiences at Fuh Wah appear to be quite varied, with some positive aspects mentioned alongside significant negative concerns. One reviewer noted that the "ladies are very nice" and specifically mentioned "good carryout," suggesting that the staff is friendly and that their takeout service is a positive aspect for some customers. Another reviewer commented on a "nice waiting area" that features "lot's of plants," indicating that the physical space where customers might wait for their orders is pleasant and well-decorated.
However, the positive feedback is overshadowed by a very serious and concerning review. This customer strongly advises against eating at Fuh Wah, citing a potential health risk involving "mold" that could lead to an emergency room visit. The reviewer expressed regret for not heeding what they perceived as rudeness from a staff member before paying for their food, attributing this oversight to hunger. This paints a picture of a potentially negative initial interaction with staff for at least one customer.
The same critical reviewer also raised significant doubts about the restaurant's hygiene and food safety practices. They described the place as "filthy" and accused them of selling "rotten food." Furthermore, they questioned how Fuh Wah could possess an "A certificate" (presumably a health inspection grade), given their observations. The reviewer went so far as to suggest that the "HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND ICE NEED TO BE CALLED HERE," indicating a severe level of concern regarding the restaurant's standards and practices.
Adding to the negative feedback regarding food quality, another reviewer mentioned that "nothing is fresh" and noted a limitation in their fried rice options, offering only small and large sizes with no medium available. The comment about the lack of freshness is a significant drawback for any restaurant, as freshness is a key indicator of food quality and safety.
Considering these reviews, it is difficult to form a uniformly positive or negative assessment of Fuh Wah. On one hand, there are mentions of friendly staff and a pleasant waiting area. On the other hand, there are serious allegations of serving rotten food, a filthy environment, and a lack of fresh ingredients. These are significant red flags that potential customers should consider very carefully.
The discrepancy between the positive comments about the staff and waiting area, and the severe accusations of health risks and poor food quality, is stark. It suggests that while some aspects of the customer experience might be satisfactory (like the interaction with certain staff members or the ambiance of the waiting area), the fundamental aspects of food safety and quality are major concerns for at least one recent customer.
Given the gravity of the negative review, which includes a warning about potential health emergencies and allegations of serving rotten food in a filthy environment, it would be irresponsible to present Fuh Wah without emphasizing these serious concerns. While other reviewers mentioned friendliness and a nice waiting area, these positive aspects pale in comparison to the potential health risks alleged by another customer.
There is no information available regarding any specific features of Fuh Wah that might set it apart from other Chinese restaurants, such as signature dishes, unique culinary styles, or special ingredients. The limited feedback focuses primarily on the overall experience, with the negative aspects being particularly prominent and alarming.
Similarly, no promotional information was provided in the reviews. Therefore, local users cannot be informed of any special offers or discounts that might be currently available at Fuh Wah.
For local users in the Bronx considering Fuh Wah, it is imperative to weigh the extremely serious allegations made by one reviewer against the more neutral or slightly positive comments from others. The claim of serving rotten food in a filthy environment that could lead to a hospital visit should not be taken lightly. While the friendly staff and nice waiting area might be appealing, these are secondary to the fundamental safety and quality of the food being served.
Potential customers might want to exercise extreme caution and perhaps seek more recent reviews or even consider contacting the local health department to inquire about the restaurant's inspection records before deciding to eat at or order from Fuh Wah. The stark contrast in the provided feedback suggests a significant inconsistency in the restaurant's standards or a highly negative experience for at least one customer that raises serious health and safety concerns.
In conclusion, Fuh Wah is a Chinese restaurant in the Bronx, NY, that has received mixed feedback. While some customers have noted friendly staff and a pleasant waiting area, a significant and alarming review alleges serving rotten food in a filthy environment, raising serious health concerns. Another reviewer mentioned a lack of fresh food and limited fried rice options. Local users should carefully consider these points and exercise caution before patronizing Fuh Wah, potentially seeking further information about its current standards and practices.

Ladies are very nice 👍 good carryout Nothing is fresh, no medium fried rice, small and large only Nice waiting area lot's of plants
Do not eat here unless you enjoy going to the Emergency Room over mold. I should’ve paid attention to the rude lady before paying but I was hungry and regret it. I’m wondering how they have an A certificate because the place is filthy and they sell rotten food HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND ICE NEED TO BE CALLED HERE.
I’ve ate from here a couple of times and I def. would suggest this place to people who live in the area. Their chicken wings, wonton soup & egg rolls are good but I definitely dont like their fried rice.
First was a ROACH, now MOLD stuck on rice! 🤢🤮 Can’t belive what they’re selling our LOCALS! Customer for 15+ years..
Has a really cheap ATM, great for that. Worst general tso's chicken I have ever gotten. Super confused as usually that is pretty much the same everywhere. Cheap ATM though.
