No frills steamed bun & dumpling place, apparently a huge wholesale provider for stores in the area!
This spot is in the basement of a really grungy and borderline abandoned mall on the far side of Chinatown. But it’s likely one of the best places to get juicy buns and juicy and well seasoned dumplings in all of Manhattan Chinatown. The service is really friendly, the prices are still so low, even with inflation, and the food is so good. There’s always a small army of female workers rolling dough, shaping buns and dumplings, and doing food prep in the back. I’ve gotten multiple types of dumplings and the steamed buns and all have been amazing. I hope they always stay in business! There’s some tables and chairs for eating across from the stall, but definitely better as takeout. Cash only!
The food was so amazing! It's in an abandoned mall, so don't expect a lot as far as the atmosphere, not a lot of seating, and the service isn't super friendly, but they aren't rude either. But the food is super cheap for the amount you get and super tasty. I would for sure go again!
Hidden away in a suspicious-looking mall type place is this wonderful little restaurant! The prices are insanely good ($5 for 6 bao buns) and the buns were delicious. The fried dumplings were incredible and also very cheap. You can see the staff preparing the items fresh in bulk when you go to the counter. The atmosphere isn’t the most vibey - it’s definitely no frills - but it is tasty and cheap.
lowkey i was a little afraid of going inside as all the shops were closed as this was my first time going there & i went at a later time BUT this might actually be the best steamed bun i ever had. def a bang for your buck. i believe it was $5 for 6? i would def go back to try their other dishes
