About Fu Sing

Welcome to the local guide for Fu Sing, a Chinese restaurant located at 4151 Broadway in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. As a Chinese restaurant serving the local community, Fu Sing aims to provide a variety of Chinese dishes to its patrons. This introduction will offer an overview of what you might anticipate from this establishment, based on the information available online.

Situated on Broadway in Manhattan, Fu Sing Chinese Restaurant is positioned to serve residents and visitors in the surrounding area. The restaurant can be contacted at (212) 928-9174 or via their mobile number, +1 212-928-9174, for inquiries regarding orders, menu items, and services.

Details regarding the specific environment and ambiance of Fu Sing Chinese Restaurant are provided in one of the customer reviews. This review explicitly states, "You don’t come here for the atmosphere," indicating that the restaurant's décor and overall ambiance are likely not a primary focus or highlight. Potential customers should anticipate a more functional or basic setting rather than a decorative or elaborate dining space. This suggests that Fu Sing may prioritize food preparation and service efficiency over creating a particular dining atmosphere. If you are looking for a restaurant with a specific ambiance, Fu Sing might not be the top choice based on this feedback.

In terms of services, the reviews suggest that Fu Sing offers takeout and likely delivery, as is common for many local Chinese restaurants. One reviewer mentions ordering from Fu Sing for over 15 years, implying the availability of these services over a long period. The negative review also details a decrease in quality over the last five years, which suggests continued operation of their core services. However, there is no specific mention of dine-in service. Given the comment about not coming for the atmosphere, it is plausible that dine-in options are either limited or non-existent. Customers interested in dine-in should contact the restaurant directly to confirm.

The features of Fu Sing Chinese Restaurant primarily revolve around its menu and the style of Chinese cuisine it offers. One positive aspect highlighted by a reviewer is the availability of specific dishes like "deep fried chicken wings with fried plantains or rice" and "chicken and broccoli," which are recommended as particularly good. The combination of chicken wings with fried plantains is somewhat unique and suggests a potential influence or fusion with other culinary traditions, possibly Caribbean, which is common in some parts of New York City. This could be a signature offering that sets Fu Sing apart. However, a long-term customer reports a decline in food quality over the past five years, describing the food as "super oily" and of "low quality," attributing this potentially to their "rather inexpensive" prices. This suggests a trade-off between affordability and food quality, which potential customers should consider. The same reviewer also notes that Fu Sing "used to give free egg rolls or soda with order and no longer do," indicating a change in their features or promotional offerings over time.

Promotional information for Fu Sing Chinese Restaurant is limited. As mentioned, they previously offered free egg rolls or soda with orders, which could be considered a past promotion to incentivize customers. However, this is no longer the case. The current reviews do not mention any ongoing specials, discounts, or other promotional offers. To find out if Fu Sing currently has any promotions, local residents should contact the restaurant directly or check if they have any online presence where such information might be advertised.

The customer reviews provided offer contrasting yet informative perspectives on Fu Sing Chinese Restaurant. One reviewer, while acknowledging that the atmosphere and customer service are not highlights, strongly recommends specific dishes like the deep-fried chicken wings with fried plantains or rice, and the chicken and broccoli, suggesting that the food, despite other shortcomings, can be a draw for local customers. This reviewer positions Fu Sing as "the best local Chinese spot around" for those prioritizing the food itself.

Conversely, a long-term customer who has been ordering from Fu Sing for over 15 years expresses significant disappointment with the recent decline in food quality. They describe the food as excessively oily and of low quality, linking this to the restaurant's inexpensive prices. The discontinuation of past freebies like egg rolls or soda has also contributed to this customer's decision to no longer order from Fu Sing. This feedback indicates a potential issue with maintaining quality over time, which is a crucial consideration for potential new customers.

Considering these two reviews, potential customers should weigh the positive recommendation of specific dishes against the reported decline in overall food quality and the acknowledged lack of appealing atmosphere or notable customer service. If you are primarily focused on finding an affordable local Chinese option and are willing to overlook ambiance and potentially inconsistent quality in favor of trying recommended dishes like the chicken wings with plantains, Fu Sing might be worth considering. However, if you prioritize higher food quality, a pleasant dining atmosphere, or exceptional customer service, you might want to explore other Chinese restaurants in the Washington Heights area.

For local residents in the Washington Heights neighborhood looking for a Chinese restaurant, Fu Sing is located on Broadway. The positive mention of certain dishes could be a reason to try it, especially if you are looking for a local spot with unique offerings like chicken wings with fried plantains. However, the reported issues with declining food quality and the explicit warning not to expect a pleasant atmosphere or great customer service should also be taken into account. It might be prudent to start with a small order of the recommended dishes to assess the current quality for yourself before becoming a regular customer.

In conclusion, Fu Sing Chinese Restaurant in Washington Heights offers takeout and likely delivery services. While it may be considered a go-to local spot by some for its food, particularly dishes like deep-fried chicken wings with fried plantains, it is also described as lacking in atmosphere and having experienced a decline in food quality over recent years, potentially due to its inexpensive pricing. Potential customers should manage their expectations regarding the ambiance and consider trying the recommended dishes to assess the current food quality based on their own preferences.

Lower your expectations, this is the best local Chinese spot around. Get the deep fried chicken wings with fried plantains or rice and thank me later. Chicken and broccoli is also amazing. You don’t come here for the atmosphere or the customer service just the food.

I've been ordering here for 15+ years and the quality has gone significantly down in the last 5 or so years. Food is super oily and is clearly of low quality. Their prices however are rather inexpensive so I guess that's why the food quality is poor. They used to give free egg rolls or soda with order and no longer do, such a shame. Will no longer be ordering here.

I like this place. It is normally clean, the food is really good, and decent price and quantity. But if the site says it is closed, call them, because I just got the info that they were closed, called them, and they were open (good for me - but Ivwalked 2 extra blocks back and forth in the rain because of it - not the Fu Sing fault, but site's fault)
