About Fu's Garden

Fu's Garden is a Chinese restaurant situated at 5866 San Felipe St in Houston, Texas. As a Chinese restaurant, it offers a menu of typical American Chinese food, which customers have described as fresh and tasting fine. Fu's Garden provides both dine-in and takeout services, catering to different customer preferences.

One of the notable features of Fu's Garden is its ability to accommodate dietary restrictions, specifically gluten-free options. This makes it a suitable choice for individuals with such dietary needs. Customers have highlighted the ease of ordering, especially for takeout, with one reviewer mentioning placing an order while on the freeway and having it ready for pickup upon arrival, indicating efficient and fast service.

The service at Fu's Garden has received mixed reviews. The servers, particularly Angel and Nino (spelling may vary), are highly praised for being welcoming and awesome, contributing to a positive dining experience. However, some customers have reported negative interactions with the Asian lady and man at the front, describing them as rude and cheap, citing instances such as reluctance to provide an extra spicy sauce for takeout. Despite these front-of-house issues, customers continue to visit for the food and the excellent service provided by the waitstaff.

In summary, Fu's Garden offers typical American Chinese food that is generally well-received for its freshness and taste. A significant advantage is their ability to cater to gluten-free diets. The restaurant provides both dine-in and efficient takeout services. While the service from the servers is highly commended, some customers have noted negative experiences with the front-of-house staff. Local users looking for familiar Chinese takeout with gluten-free options and friendly table service may find Fu's Garden a suitable choice.

Honest review * I have been here many times. I want to compliment the servers ( angel & nino) maybe I’m spelling it wrong but they are amazing. They are so welcoming. The Asian lady and man in the front are rude and cheap. Sorry to tell you the truth but why would I lie. They like to save their extra 5 cents vs making a customer happy. Especially the lady. Anytime she’s there it’s bad vibes. I go for the food and waiters because they are just so awesome. Anyways 5 star service but I am putting 4 stars because it’s not that perfect with the people in the front. I stopped ordering take out because she always wants to be complaining about adding one extra spicy sauce to go. Apparently it costs them hundreds of dollars ( I’m exaggerating) but come on now.

This is less about the food and more about the experience. This is typical American Chinese food that most people expect when they order takeout and everything was fresh and tasted fine. I'm gluten free so it made a big difference that they were able to accommodate me. My wife is not gluten free and enjoyed her food as well. I was driving home from work and I didn't want to deal with figuring out dinner so I called Fu's, they made ordering easy, they made gluten free ordering easy, and the price was great, the food was fresh and it took very little time for me to be able to pick up my order. In fact, I called while on the freeway and it was ready by the time I got to the restaurant.

I agree with others that the quality of this restaurant has declined in recent years. Yesterday, I wanted to dine at nearby Cafe Panda Garden, but failed to realize they aren’t open on Saturdays. I decided against my better judgement to go to Fu’s Garden, although my experiences there have been mixed. Well, I show up and stand there, waiting to be seated. There were no waitstaff present in the dining area, and I guess the lady at the counter thought it was beneath her to seat me. After what felt like two or three minutes, she finally acknowledged my presence and took me to a table. If I wasn’t hungry, I would have walked out at that point. Actually, I wish I had. The waiter with the bad attitude came out and took my order. I’ve dealt with him before and agree with others that he can be very rude and unfriendly. Kinda sad when the guy who refills your water has more courtesy and professionalism than anyone else who works there. Anyway, I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken lunch special. It was mediocre at best. Like others have mentioned, this “spicy” dish tasted sweet and kinda weird, actually. The spring roll was disgustingly bad. It was mushy. I don’t remember their spring rolls being that awful before. I took my time eating lunch and the waiter seemed to be irritated, not sure why. It was not that late in the afternoon and it’s not like they needed me to vacate the table, as there were only like four other tables occupied. I have decided to give up on this place. I will either dine at nearby Cafe Panda Garden, or at Rice Box on I-10.

Food was okay. My orange chicken was alittle too spicy for my liking and the peppers were slightly burnt and there were jalapeños in my orange chicken. Never had my orange chicken prepared this way and my food was overly priced for the lunch special. I paid $47.00 for a general tso and orange chicken with a side of crab rangoon. I still don’t understand the math that was done here. I was in the area which is the reason for me stopping by but I will frequent Chinese closer to my house with better prices and tastier food.

This is one of the very best in Houston!! They are so nice and welcoming every time and the food is delicious!!! Their General Tao’s is the best I have ever had! Excellent portion sizes as well! It’s a great family restaurant with even better food!
