About Fu Lam Moon Restaurant
Welcome to Fu Lam Moon Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant located at 40460 Albrae St, Fremont, CA 94538, USA. Situated within the Chinese Restaurant category, Fu Lam Moon was once known as a "yum cha" restaurant, traditionally specializing in dim sum, a Cantonese cuisine involving a variety of small, savory, and sweet dishes. You can contact them at (510) 668-1333 or via their mobile number +1 510-668-1333.
For local users in Fremont seeking a Cantonese dining experience, particularly those who may have known Fu Lam Moon in the past, it's important to note some recent changes in their offerings based on customer reviews. These reviews provide insights into the current state of the restaurant, which may differ from past experiences or initial expectations.
One customer shared a nostalgic connection to Fu Lam Moon, recalling frequent visits during their childhood, even driving up from San Jose. However, a recent attempt to dine there revealed that the restaurant was not open at 12 pm, despite the hours listed online. Upon encountering a woman, presumably the owner or someone in charge, they were informed that the restaurant was "running late." Furthermore, this customer's intention was to enjoy dim sum, but they were told that it was not available. This was particularly surprising given the reviewer's understanding that it was a "yum cha restaurant." The reviewer also mentioned that the woman they spoke with could not speak Cantonese, despite owning what they perceived to be a Cantonese restaurant.
Another customer's experience corroborates the information about the discontinuation of dim sum service. This reviewer was specifically searching for a dim sum place when Fu Lam Moon's name appeared with "decent reviews." However, upon visiting the restaurant, they discovered that dim sum was no longer served, and only the regular Chinese food menu was available. Despite this disappointment, they decided to order congee and lobster noodles, both of which they found to be "quite good."
These two reviews paint a picture of a restaurant that has undergone a significant change in its primary offering. While it may have once been a go-to spot for dim sum (yum cha), it now appears to focus on a more general Chinese food menu. The positive feedback regarding the congee and lobster noodles suggests that the quality of their regular menu items might still be commendable.
Given this shift in focus, local users who are specifically looking for a dim sum experience might need to consider other options in the Fremont area. However, those interested in trying their regular Chinese food menu, as evidenced by the positive comments on congee and lobster noodles, might still find Fu Lam Moon to be a worthwhile visit.
Information regarding the current environment or ambiance of Fu Lam Moon is not explicitly detailed in these recent reviews. However, the fact that it was previously known as a "yum cha" restaurant might suggest a relatively spacious setting to accommodate the traditional dim sum service, which often involves carts circulating with various dishes. It remains to be seen if the ambiance has changed significantly with the shift in menu focus.
Similarly, specific details about the services currently offered are limited. We know they provide dine-in service, as both reviewers visited the physical location. The first reviewer's experience with the late opening suggests potential inconsistencies in their stated hours of operation. The second reviewer's decision to stay and order from the regular menu implies that takeout might also be an option, although this is not explicitly stated. The level of customer service seems to have had mixed reviews, with one encounter being perceived as somewhat unprofessional ("running late" explanation, inability to speak Cantonese for a Cantonese restaurant), while the service during the second reviewer's meal (leading to a positive assessment of the congee and lobster noodles) is not detailed.
The features of Fu Lam Moon have evidently changed with the discontinuation of dim sum. Previously, a key feature would have been the availability of a wide variety of small Cantonese dishes served typically during brunch hours. Now, the focus seems to be on a regular Chinese food menu, which likely includes a range of popular dishes such as stir-fries, soups, noodle and rice dishes, and perhaps some Cantonese specialties beyond dim sum, as suggested by the positive mention of lobster noodles (a dish often found in Cantonese cuisine).
At this time, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals at Fu Lam Moon Restaurant. It would be advisable to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about their current menu and any ongoing promotions.
In conclusion, Fu Lam Moon Restaurant in Fremont has transitioned from being primarily a "yum cha" (dim sum) establishment to offering a regular Chinese food menu. While past patrons seeking dim sum may be disappointed, recent feedback suggests that some of their regular dishes, such as congee and lobster noodles, are well-received. Potential customers should be aware of the reported issues with adherence to online hours and the discontinuation of dim sum service. Those interested in exploring their current Cantonese and general Chinese food offerings may find it beneficial to visit or contact the restaurant directly for the most up-to-date information on their menu and services.

I used to go here all the time as a child. We drove up from San Jose. Only to find out the restaurant wasn’t open despite the hours online. Then we met the owner or some lady and she was like oh today we’re running late. Ma’am it’s 12 pm.. and we wanted dim sum but she said there was none. It’s a yum cha restaurant for a reason? She also couldn’t speak Cantonese despite owning a Cantonese restaurant.
I was searching for a dim sum place and this restaurant’s name came up with decent reviews. I went there but found out that they no longer serve dim sum, only the regular Chinese food menu. We ended up ordered congee and lobster noodles and those were quite good.
Walking in is a beautiful kumquat tree and a bunch of large Koi. On the side are the various aquarium tanks with crustaceans and fish. They even have decorations of lobsters and a crab as well as a flower wall art piece. Also, the vegetables are excellently prepared.
The Geoduck Congee and Saute are delicious, the chef are caring, they used thin sice for frying and thicker fatier cuts for congee. Off menu Crispy seafood noodle is too salty. 15% tip and dessert are added. The dessert is unsweetened with sweet syrup on top. Server is very hard working but not good at recommending food. She recommended vegetable n pork instead of restaurant's specialty.
Great family style restaurant... Large food portions for sharing. The BBQ fried rice, porridge, fried noodle, and vegetable dishes were all delicious. The food came out fast and the service was great. Parking was easy.
