About Fu Kee Express

Fu Kee Express is a Chinese restaurant located at 6320 Capital Blvd in Raleigh, North Carolina, catering specifically to customers seeking takeout options. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Fu Kee Express provides a traditional menu of Chinese-American dishes for the local community. It is important to note that this establishment is a takeout-only location, and customers are required to call ahead to place their orders, as indicated by a sign on the premises.

Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at Fu Kee Express appears to be somewhat varied, particularly concerning the food quality. One customer described their overall meal as below average and not worth the cost. They specifically mentioned that the noodles were dry and under-seasoned. However, this same customer did find a positive aspect in the sweet and sour chicken, noting its pleasant crunch and resistance to becoming soggy when dipped in the red sauce, although they did feel it needed additional seasoning to overcome a bland taste. This suggests that while some dishes might have elements of appeal, consistency and overall flavor profiles could be areas for potential improvement.

Despite the concerns raised about the food, the same reviewer offered high praise for the sole worker present at the time of their visit. This individual was described as "fantastic" and was observed managing multiple responsibilities, including answering phones, handling front-end duties, and cooking, all while maintaining a polite and hardworking demeanor. The reviewer speculated that the demanding workload on this single employee might have contributed to the noted shortcomings in the food preparation, such as the dryness of the noodles and the blandness of some dishes, possibly due to rushed preparation or food being prepped in advance. The exceptional service provided by this worker was so noteworthy that the customer indicated they would have given a five-star rating based solely on his performance, highlighting a significant strength of the establishment.

In contrast to this mixed review, another customer expressed a highly positive opinion of Fu Kee Express, proclaiming it the "Best Chinese in the Raleigh area." This reviewer drew a favorable comparison to the Chinese food found in the Northeast, suggesting a particular style or quality that resonates with their preferences. They lauded both the food and the owner as "equally excellent," even going so far as to say it might be some of the best Chinese food they have ever had. This customer also described the owner as personable, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels like picking up food from his own home. They were consistently impressed by the fact that the owner manages all aspects of the business single-handedly. This glowing review paints a picture of exceptional food and service, directly contradicting the previous account in terms of food quality.

Given these contrasting perspectives, it is challenging to form a definitive objective assessment of the food quality at Fu Kee Express. The first review points to potential issues with dryness and seasoning in some dishes, while the second strongly praises the food. It is possible that the quality may vary depending on the specific dishes ordered or the circumstances at the time of preparation. The sweet and sour chicken appears to be a standout item mentioned positively by one reviewer, suggesting it might be a dish worth trying.

Regarding the environment, since Fu Kee Express is a takeout-only location, there is no information available about a dine-in ambiance. The focus is solely on the preparation and packaging of food for customers to enjoy elsewhere. Therefore, local users should expect a functional space dedicated to order pickup rather than a dining area designed for an on-site experience.

In terms of services, the primary service offered by Fu Kee Express is takeout. The requirement to call ahead to place orders is a key aspect of their operational model. This suggests that they may not accept walk-in orders or that calling ahead ensures that the food is prepared and ready for pickup, potentially minimizing wait times. The positive feedback regarding the politeness and hard work of the single employee indicates a commitment to customer service, even within the limitations of a takeout-only establishment. However, the potential impact of a single person managing all operations on food consistency should be considered.

Features of Fu Kee Express seem to include a traditional Chinese-American menu, which might appeal to those seeking familiar and classic dishes. The mention of the sweet and sour chicken having a "nice crunch" and not becoming soggy suggests attention to the texture of certain items. The positive reviewer's comparison to Northeast Chinese food implies a specific regional style that might be a unique feature for those familiar with that culinary tradition.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available from the provided reviews. It is common for small, independent restaurants to rely on word-of-mouth and consistent quality rather than extensive promotional campaigns. Local users interested in any potential specials or discounts at Fu Kee Express might consider calling the restaurant directly at (919) 872-2661 or +1 919-872-2661 to inquire.

In conclusion, Fu Kee Express at 6320 Capital Blvd in Raleigh is a takeout-only Chinese restaurant offering a traditional menu. Customer experiences appear to be divided, with one reviewer noting issues with food quality such as dry noodles and bland seasoning, while highly praising the service of the sole employee. Conversely, another customer considers it the "Best Chinese in the Raleigh area," commending both the food and the personable owner. The sweet and sour chicken was highlighted positively for its texture. Local users should be aware of the takeout-only nature of the business and the necessity to call ahead to order. Given the contrasting reviews, individual experiences may vary, and those seeking traditional Chinese-American takeout in Raleigh may want to try Fu Kee Express to form their own opinion, perhaps starting with the sweet and sour chicken based on the available feedback. For any specific inquiries about the menu or potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

This is a take out only location. Must call ahead to order. There is a sign on the door. They offer traditional menu items. In my opinion the food was below average and not worth the cost. Noodles were dry and under seasoned. I did like the sweet and sour chicken they had a nice crunch to them and when dipped in red sauce wasn’t soggy, but I had to add seasoning to them tasted bland. The one worker was fantastic. I can tell he was the only one there managing phone, front end and cooking. That could be why the food was bland and noodles dry (could be old, or prepped way in advance) but he was very polite and working really hard. If it wasn’t for the food I’d give five stars just based off his performance.

Best Chinese in the Raleigh area! Reminds me of the Chinese food in the northeast. Both the food and owner are equally excellent in their own ways. I would maybe say it’s some of the best I’ve had in my life. The owner is personable and always makes it feel like you’re picking it up from his home. He does it all by himself. Always impressed

When I moved to Raleigh about 20+ years ago, this was the 1st Chinese restaurant I found. Covid changed it to takeout only. BUT still as good! We had the Hunan Beef, egg rolls and fried dumplings. Excellent meal. Owner (one man show) is still friendly.

We got dinner last night here for the first time. Wanted good Chinese food & after reading the reviews we had to try it. General Tso’s Chicken, Mild, White Rice, No Broccoli was the best I’ve ever had. No stringy pieces of chicken. Delicious sauce. Sweet & Sour Chicken with Fried Rice was delicious. Chicken was not overly breaded & the sauce was delicious. Crab Meat Rangoons were delicious & huge (it came with 6 but I only took a picture of 3). Lots of creamy filling. It is a one man show like the other reviews say & totally worth it. We did spend $50 with tip.

We have been looking for a Chinese place in North Raleigh for sometime now, and this is it. Perfect American style Chinese food, huge portions, with a great value, delicious flavor, fast service, and the gentleman who is working there is stellar and working harder than I’ve ever seen anyone work in a restaurant before. I would include pictures, but we ate every damn bite before I could even think about it. Our new spot.
