Based on recent customer feedback, Frying Fish offers an opportunity to enjoy economical and tasty meals. Several dishes have garnered positive attention, including the smoked duck, which is described as juicy and tender. Another highlight is the lamb in spicy gravy sauce, praised for its generous portion of meat that is both spicy and tender. These dishes appear to be popular choices among patrons seeking flavorful and satisfying options.
However, customer experiences with other menu items have been mixed. Specifically, the dry pots, described as house special chili dishes, did not meet the expectations of some diners, with both the frog and beef variations receiving negative feedback. Additionally, the FeiTeng roasted fish was considered by one reviewer to be not worth its $60 price point. This suggests that while Frying Fish excels in certain areas, other dishes may not consistently meet customer satisfaction.
One customer specifically visited Frying Fish to try their rendition of "水煮鱼片," listed on the menu as "Sole Fish Fillets." The initial impression of this dish was less favorable due to the fish slices being heavily coated in flour, which reportedly altered the texture and taste. Despite this initial disappointment, the reviewer expressed an intention to revisit and re-evaluate the dish, indicating a hope for improvement given its status as a personal favorite. This highlights the potential for inconsistency in some of Frying Fish's offerings.
Beyond the food itself, the environment of Frying Fish has been noted as spacious and clean, contributing to a comfortable dining experience. Furthermore, the service received by customers has been described as friendly and prompt. These positive aspects of the dining atmosphere and service can enhance the overall impression of the restaurant, even when certain dishes may not fully meet expectations.
In conclusion, Frying Fish in Bellevue, WA, presents itself as a Chinese restaurant with some standout dishes, particularly the smoked duck and spicy lamb. The restaurant offers an economical option for those seeking tasty meals with good portions. The spacious and clean environment, coupled with friendly and prompt service, adds to the dining experience. However, it's important to note that some dishes, such as the dry pots and the FeiTeng roasted fish, have received less favorable reviews. Additionally, there may be inconsistencies in the preparation of certain classic dishes like the "Sole Fish Fillets."
For local users in Bellevue looking to explore a Chinese restaurant with a diverse menu, Frying Fish offers a chance to try some highly recommended items. If you appreciate tender smoked duck or flavorful spicy lamb, this might be a place to consider. While experiences with other dishes may vary, the reported cleanliness and good service could contribute to a pleasant visit. To make an informed decision, consider trying some of their highlighted specialties and perhaps inquire about the preparation methods of other dishes of interest. Great place to grab an economical meal that is tasty. Portions are good and some favorite dishes are smoked duck that is juicy and tender, lamb in spicy gravy sauce had a nice portion of meat that is spicy and tender. Didn't love any of the dry pots (house special chili dishes) we ordered there, frog or beef. FeiTeng roasted fish was not worth $60.
We came here specifically to try the '水煮鱼片' that is called 'Sole Fish Fillets' in this chinese restaurant. First impression wasn't that great because the fish slices are heavily coated with too much flour; altering the texture and taste of this dish. We'll probably visit this place again to re-validate this dish. Hopefully, next visit will be better since this is one of our favorite fish dishes. Food aside, this restaurant is spacious, and feels clean. Service is friendly and prompt as well.
From the outside, this humbly and unassuming dining option does not exactly catch your eye, in the sea of available eateries in the area. However, once seated, I was completely shocked to see that the menu had items that I had not seen available in decades. Served in a traditional family style, and very reasonably priced, everything that they had available was what you'd expect from a Chinese food establishment, and more. I feel like it is geared more toward ethnically Chinese people, and that's certainly a good thing! The food is more authentic and has flavors that might be unfamiliar, but are much more satisfying if you are looking for something a bit outside of the norm. The service is very warm and friendly, and quite attentive. We felt very welcomed and I never once had to actually look for our waitress; she always seemed to be nearby. I think my only (very small) issue was there was a small communication barrier, but that could easily be overcome through clearer communication on our part and I'm sure there are other waitresses who might be a little more fluent, as well. I was also quite pleased that there was melon juice on the menu! Fresh made and blended with ice. The entire meal was amazing and I wish I could have ordered more. I highly recommend!
This place is packed! Make reservation if you don't want to wait. Small quantity in big dish. Food is excellent especially their smoked duck 樟茶鴨: Crunchy outside, juicy inside Walnut Shrimp 核桃蝦 tastes really bad. The shrimps were not fresh. The fried skin is too thick that absorbed the oil. It tastes really oily. The presentation looks amazing though. Went there for lunch. Their lunch menu is good value
Food is consistently good. Here’s pics of the full updated menu. We’ve been here 4x now and twice were birthdays. The serving size is great. Everything seasoned perfectly. The milk drink really reminded me of my childhood sweet milk drinks. I recommend the mapo tofu. 🙏🏻
