About Fresh Wok
Welcome to Fresh Wok, a Chinese restaurant located at 4610 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55419, USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Minneapolis area, Fresh Wok offers a variety of dishes for takeout and potentially dine-in customers. You can place your order or inquire about their menu by calling them at (612) 827-0505 or their mobile number +1 612-827-0505.
Based on recent customer reviews, the experiences at Fresh Wok appear to be somewhat inconsistent, with positive feedback on some dishes and significant concerns raised about food quality and customer service in other instances. One customer reported a positive experience with the chicken in garlic sauce, noting its nice spice and good garlic flavor. They also found the fried dumplings to be decent, although mentioning a thick dough, and the egg roll to be good. This suggests that Fresh Wok is capable of producing flavorful and satisfying versions of some of their menu items.
However, another customer, who had been a regular for about a year and had previously recommended Fresh Wok to others, shared a very negative experience. On a recent visit, they ordered their favorite dish, Mongolian Beef, but found it to contain hardly any meat, with the beef present only as tiny slivers or crumbles. Upon calling the restaurant to inform them of this issue, they were initially offered a $5 discount on their next visit. Dissatisfied with this resolution, the customer opted to return to the restaurant to show the dish and request a refund.
The experience upon returning to Fresh Wok was reportedly very poor. The customer described the lady they interacted with as rude, complaining and yelling loudly in front of other customers. The staff member insisted that the dish was prepared correctly and that other customers liked it that way, dismissing the returning customer's claim that the dish had been different on previous occasions. The customer also pointed to a picture of the Mongolian Beef displayed in the restaurant, noting that the usual presentation of the dish resembled the picture with larger pieces of meat. The staff member allegedly responded dismissively, stating that "everyone knows the picture is not the same." This interaction escalated, with the staff member reportedly throwing their arms up and making a scene, refusing to listen to the customer's concerns and instead arguing about everything. The customer, who had previous experience working in restaurants, expressed disappointment in how the situation was handled, suggesting that a remake of the meal or a simple refund with an apology would have been more appropriate.
As a result of this negative experience, the previously loyal customer stated that they would likely not return to Fresh Wok, despite having enjoyed the food in the past. They ultimately found the same dish at another restaurant for a slightly higher price but with larger pieces of beef, traditional ingredients, and very friendly customer service, highlighting the stark contrast in their experiences.
The provided reviews offer contrasting perspectives on Fresh Wok. One suggests the potential for tasty dishes like the chicken in garlic sauce and decent appetizers. However, the other review raises significant concerns about the consistency of food preparation, particularly with the Mongolian Beef, and serious issues with customer service, including rudeness and a refusal to address a customer complaint reasonably. These conflicting experiences indicate a potential lack of consistency in both food quality and service standards at Fresh Wok.
The reviews do not provide any specific details about the environment or ambiance of the restaurant, nor do they mention any unique features or promotional offers. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on these aspects based solely on the provided information. The focus of the feedback is primarily on the food quality of specific dishes and the manner in which a customer complaint was handled.
In conclusion, Fresh Wok in Minneapolis, MN, is a Chinese restaurant that has received mixed reviews from recent customers. While some dishes, such as the chicken in garlic sauce, fried dumplings, and egg rolls, have been described positively, there are significant concerns regarding the consistency of other dishes, exemplified by the Mongolian Beef with a lack of meat. Furthermore, a concerning incident involving rude and confrontational customer service when addressing a food quality issue raises serious questions about the restaurant's approach to customer satisfaction. Local users considering Fresh Wok should be aware of these varying experiences and potential inconsistencies in both food and service.
Given the conflicting feedback, it might be prudent for potential customers to proceed with caution when considering Fresh Wok. While there is evidence of enjoyable food and potentially decent service in some instances, the reported issues with food consistency and the particularly negative customer service experience are factors that should be taken into account. If you decide to try Fresh Wok, you may want to be mindful of potential variations in food quality and be prepared to advocate for yourself should any issues arise. You can contact Fresh Wok at (612) 827-0505 or +1 612-827-0505 for more information or to place an order at their location on 4610 Nicollet Ave in Minneapolis.

Had the chicken in garlic sauce. Nice spice to it and good garlic flavor. paired with the fried dumplings which were decent (thick dough), and the egg roll was good.
I’ve been going here for about a year. I liked their food and had even recommended them to other people. Today I got my favorite, Mongolian Beef, but there was hardly any meat in the order. The beef pieces were tiny slivers or even crumbles of meat. I called to tell them, and they offered me $5 off my next visit. I told them I would rather bring it back to show them and get my money back. When I got there the lady was very rude and loudly complained and yelled in front of everyone in the restaurant. She told me that’s the way they make it and everyone else likes it. I told her I have eaten there many times and it is never like this. I also pointed to the picture on the wall that they have of the dish and said that the pieces of meat usually look like the picture. She then said “oh come on, everyone knows the picture is not the same”. I told her that one of the reasons why I kept coming back was because their food did look like the picture. She just kept throwing her arms up in the air making a scene. I think the last time I had to return food must have been 15 years ago? When I was young I even worked in restaurants so I understand how difficult it can be. This woman could have handled this situation differently. She could have made the meal over, or she could have just given me my money back and apologized. Instead she yelled and tried to humiliate me, refusing to listen except to argue about everything I said. I gave their food a “2” because in the past it had been good. In the end, I found the same dish at another restaurant for $2 more with large pieces of beef, traditional ingredients for the dish and very friendly customer service.
I just ordered from fresh wok 46th & Nicollet I ordered from the Chefs Suggestions S6- Lake Tung Ting Shrimp- jumbo Shrimp marinated with broccoli mushrooms and bamboo shoots and white wine sauce. They put water chestnuts in it No bamboo shoots I'm not happy I don't eat water chestnut and the bamboo shoots is why I ordered this and to try it. Thumbs down. This isn't the 1st or 2nd time they've messed my order up. Both delivery and pick up. Not happy at all.
Look, normally it's really hard to want to give a restaurant 1 star, especially for a take out place. Used to have really good service ordering from online, but the last time my family and I ordered (November 7, 2024): My father nearly choked on a peice of Plastic wrap that they had cooked and left in his Szechuan Beef! I had gotten an email after the fact saying I had been refunded for the meal after we had called the restaurant, the refund never came in.
Fresh Wol is definitively the best Chinese food in the twin cities. Not too greasy, abundant flavor, exactly what you want from takeout Chinese food. Undeniably consistent, hits the spot every time. Thank you, Fresh Wok.
