Based on the available customer reviews, Fortune Star 520 offers Chinese cuisine with a focus on takeout service. It's important to consider the varied feedback received to gain an objective understanding of what this restaurant offers to local users.

Regarding the environment, one reviewer offers a particularly negative assessment, stating that the "atmosphere should be a barn looks like one." This suggests that the physical appearance of the establishment might be unappealing or run-down. However, it's crucial to note that another reviewer describes the service as "fast friendly service," which implies a more positive interaction with the staff, regardless of the physical surroundings. It's also explicitly mentioned that "Pick up only there is no dine in," confirming that Fortune Star 520 operates solely as a takeout restaurant.

In terms of services, the primary service offered by Fortune Star 520 is takeout. Customers can place their orders and pick them up at the location. The review mentioning "fast friendly service" indicates efficiency and a positive interaction during the order and pickup process. The explicit statement that "there is no dine in" clarifies the service model entirely.

When it comes to the features of Fortune Star 520, the customer reviews provide mixed feedback on the food quality. One reviewer had a very negative experience with the sesame chicken, describing it as having "no spice no flavor," with "small pieces of chicken cooked so hard I could not eat it." They were so dissatisfied that they discarded the dish. This same reviewer also criticized the crab rangoons as being "so hard could not chew" with a filling that was "pink sugary and disgusting." This paints a concerning picture of the quality of these specific items.

In contrast, another reviewer mentioned "Good portions," which suggests that Fortune Star 520 offers a generous amount of food for the price. This is a positive aspect for customers looking for value. However, this reviewer also had several criticisms regarding the food quality. They noted that the "fried rice is clumpy and fried in old oil," which would negatively impact the taste and texture of a staple Chinese dish. They also found that the "wontons had a odd sweet flavor," which might not be appealing to all palates. On a more positive note, this reviewer stated that the "Gen Tso chicken and the shrimp and broccoli had good flavor," indicating that some dishes might be prepared to a satisfactory standard. However, they also observed that "the curry and soups had a jelly like texture to them," which could be unappetizing.

The conflicting feedback makes it challenging to definitively assess the overall quality of the food at Fortune Star 520. While some dishes might be flavorful and the portions are reportedly good, there are significant concerns raised about the preparation and taste of other items, such as the sesame chicken, crab rangoons, fried rice, wontons, curry, and soups.

Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not contain any details about current specials, discounts, or other promotions that Fortune Star 520 might be offering. Takeout restaurants sometimes have lunch specials or combination meals, but there is no mention of such offers in the given feedback. To learn about any potential promotions, customers would need to contact Fortune Star 520 directly via phone or inquire when placing an order.

In conclusion, Fortune Star 520 in Taneytown, MD, is a Chinese restaurant that operates solely as a takeout establishment. Customers have reported "fast friendly service" and "good portions." However, there are significant concerns raised about the quality and preparation of several dishes. One reviewer experienced extremely poor sesame chicken and crab rangoons, while another noted issues with the fried rice, wontons, curry, and soups, despite finding some flavor in the Gen Tso chicken and shrimp and broccoli. The environment is described negatively by one reviewer. For local users in Taneytown looking for Chinese takeout, Fortune Star 520 presents a mixed picture based on this feedback. While the service and portions might be satisfactory, the inconsistencies and negative experiences with food quality should be taken into consideration. It might be prudent to exercise caution or inquire about the preparation of specific dishes before placing an order. To learn about their menu and any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

At present, this restaurant is only doing takeout, though in the past they also had sit-down service. So, if you get food here, you will basically come in, open a little slot and say "can I have service?" Lady will come to the slot and take your order. She will then come back to the slot with your order. You get the food; you pay. So why did I give this place three stars? Mostly because the food was bland. It was a dish that was supposed to be spicy and somewhat sweet; it was not either of those. I have had worse chicken Kung Pao than this at other places. This was modestly good, and certainly not great.

No dine in. Portions are good, the strings beans were undercooked. No pork options. I didn't like the covid atmosphere inside with the stupid plastic window 10 feet from the counter. It's 2024 you gotta let that go.
