About Fortune Inn Restaurant

Fortune Inn Restaurant, situated at 6825 NE 170th St in Kenmore, Washington, falls under the Chinese Restaurant category, offering a local dining option for those seeking Chinese cuisine. Initial impressions from some customers paint a picture of a "hidden gem," suggesting a potentially pleasant and perhaps unexpected culinary experience for those in the Kenmore area. One early review highlighted the discovery of this restaurant after years of driving past, leading to a positive first-time experience. This initial visit was marked by the enjoyment of several dishes, including the cucumber salad, crispy squid, king siu mai, and cilantro dumplings. A particular highlight was the freshly made sesame balls, which were described as exceptionally crispy and soft, even converting someone who wasn't typically a fan. The thoughtful and attentive service received during this visit also contributed to the positive initial impression, fostering an eagerness to explore the rest of the menu.

However, more recent feedback indicates a potential shift in the restaurant's quality. One updated review expressed disappointment, noting that the quality appeared to be declining. This customer observed that numerous items had been removed from the menu, and the food ordered was described as dried out and tasting as if it had been reheated from frozen. This significant drop in perceived quality was a source of sadness for the reviewer, contrasting sharply with their initial positive experience.

Another customer's experience further supports the concern regarding food quality and value. This review focused on a negative encounter during a lunch special order. The customer expressed dissatisfaction with receiving a disproportionate amount of rice compared to the General Tso's chicken. Additionally, a promised soup that was supposed to be included with the lunch special was forgotten. The reviewer went on to state that the taste of the food was no better than that of supermarket Chinese food, leading to a highly unfavorable comparison. The price of $14 for this particular lunch experience was deemed a "joke," solidifying the reviewer's decision not to return to Fortune Inn Restaurant.

Considering these contrasting reviews, it appears that Fortune Inn Restaurant may offer an inconsistent dining experience. While some customers have found it to be a source of "amazing food" and thoughtful service, more recent feedback raises concerns about declining food quality, potential menu limitations, and issues with order accuracy and value for money. The initial positive review highlights the potential for enjoyable dishes such as the cucumber salad, crispy squid, and freshly made sesame balls, suggesting that the kitchen is capable of producing high-quality items. However, the subsequent negative reviews indicate a struggle with maintaining this level of quality consistently.

Based on the available information, it is challenging to definitively characterize the environment and services beyond the direct interactions mentioned in the reviews. The initial positive feedback suggests attentive service, but the later reviews do not provide further details about the ambiance or the general service standards. The focus of the feedback tends to be primarily on the food itself and the accuracy of orders.

Regarding features, the initial review points to the freshly made sesame balls as a standout item, suggesting a potential strength in preparing certain dishes from scratch. The mention of a cucumber salad and various dim sum-style items like king siu mai and cilantro dumplings indicates a diverse menu that, at least at one point, offered a range of appetizers and specialties. However, the later review noting items being crossed off the menu suggests that this variety might be diminishing.

No promotional information is available in the provided text. Therefore, local users would need to inquire directly with the restaurant about any current specials or promotions.

In conclusion, Fortune Inn Restaurant in Kenmore, WA, presents a mixed picture based on recent customer feedback. While initial experiences may be positive, with notable dishes and attentive service, more recent reviews indicate a potential decline in food quality and consistency, as well as issues with order accuracy and value. Local users considering dining at Fortune Inn may want to take these recent experiences into account and perhaps seek more up-to-date information before making a decision. The restaurant appears to have the potential to offer enjoyable Chinese cuisine, but maintaining consistent quality seems to be a challenge based on the provided reviews.

Amazing food! I didn't know about this hidden gem I drove past for years and finally dropped in to try. My partner and I ordered the cucumber salad (so good!) crispy squid, king siu mai, cilantro dumplings and the thing most worth waiting for that we forgot we ordered - freshly made sesame balls! I'm normally not a huge fan but my partner loves them. They were so crispy, and soft. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Our server was incredibly thoughtful and attentive too. Update - quality seems to be slipping. Lots of items crossed off the menu. Our order waa kinda dried out and tasted like it was reheated from frozen. Made me real sad to experience the quality drop.

Well what can I say? The rice was decent? When I order the general tso chicken lunch special, and they give me more rice than chicken, how am I supposed to feel? When they forget the soup that was supposed to come with the lunch special, how am I supposed to feel? When the food taste no better than the Safeway Chinese food, what am I supposed to say? First time here is my last time here. Charging $14 for this is a joke.

I decided to try out this restaurant after it went under a the new ownership and the reviews seemed good. It's good! I would definitely come back! I came here a long time ago under the old owners and was not impressed at all. But the food is very good this time. We were there for lunch, lunch specials are $13, just the right portion for me. Broccoli Chicken, String Beans with chicken, and Eggplant Garlic Sauce.

Friendly service . Little waiting time. Clean lounge. Prices are reasonable, if you get the correct portions of the dish, but when they short you on the portion, or they serve you old food, and they do that often ,then it becomes overpriced. Food has good acceptable chinese flavor, but not authentic chinese flavor. But it's OK. Food is still enjoyable, depending on how picky you are. White Rice is not fresh. It is already drying , and crusting. ( not acceptable) Portions are smaller than the photos. Freshness of food is also questionable. Especially if you order take out, or to go, expect your meat, or seafood portion to be much smaller.. they will short you on it.( they will skim the portion), and will try to insert old food into your order. That is cheating & dishonesty They have no problem in cheating customers in many ways, and different ways if they can So open the containers, and be diligent, and verify what is in inside, before paying, and walking away. But don't let it get to you. Just enjoy the food. You already paid for it. Just be alert next time. Next time when you order, verify the quantity, and the freshness before paying. Convenient location. Small parking lot. Enough parking space when not busy.

Finally great dim-sum in Kenmore! We had the many different dumplings, shrimp wrapped in tofu skin, tripe (best tripe we have ever had), chicken dish, and soup. Everything was seasoned well and not oily. All the food is amazing, the new owners are young and full of energy and vision! So excited to see this place grow. Don't look at reviews prior to 2023. New ownership!
