About Fortune Dragon
Welcome to Fortune Dragon, a Chinese restaurant located at 280 US-24 in Woodland Park, Colorado (zip code 80863). As a local establishment within the Chinese restaurant category, Fortune Dragon aims to serve Chinese cuisine to the residents of Woodland Park and potentially attract customers from the wider Colorado Springs area. You can contact Fortune Dragon to place orders or make inquiries by calling them at (719) 687-8883 or their mobile number +1 719-687-8883.
Based on the available customer reviews, opinions on Fortune Dragon appear to be quite divided, presenting a somewhat contrasting picture for potential diners. One enthusiastic reviewer expresses a highly positive experience, stating that it offers "some of the best Chinese food I've had in the Colorado Springs area." This customer found it so enjoyable that they deemed it "Worth the drive to Woodland Park even" and mentioned that they would be returning. They also gave a strong recommendation with an "A+" rating.
Regarding the environment, this positive reviewer noted that the "Dining room is quite plain and unremarkable," but they personally do not prioritize decor when dining out and were not deterred by this. This suggests that while the ambiance might be simple, the quality of the food was the primary focus and a significant positive for this customer.
In stark contrast, another reviewer had a significantly negative experience, expressing disappointment with the food's authenticity and flavor. This customer felt that "the food has been tailored for the pallet of a white person," implying a lack of traditional Chinese flavors and an over-simplification of the dishes. They ordered four different items: three meats with hot pepper, chicken fried rice, and chicken lo mein. According to this reviewer, all the dishes suffered from "chewy meat, slimy consistency, no spice on the spicy dishes, and just a general lack of flavor." They further described the lo mein and the three meats with hot peppers as being "drowned in sauce" and "soggy."
This negative reviewer went as far as to compare Fortune Dragon unfavorably to Panda Express, suggesting that it was even more "white, bland, mushy, and flavorless." They found it hard to believe that others considered the food to be good, speculating that perhaps those who enjoyed it had limited experience with "real Chinese food" or flavorful cuisine in general. The only positive aspect mentioned by this reviewer was that "our server kept our water glasses full," indicating at least one positive aspect of the service.
Considering these two very different perspectives, it is challenging to form a definitive overall impression of Fortune Dragon. One customer found the food to be exceptional and worth traveling for, while another found it bland, inauthentic, and poorly textured. The comment about the dining room being plain suggests that the focus might indeed be more on the food itself, though the drastically different opinions on food quality make it difficult to draw a firm conclusion.
The term "tailored for the pallet of a white person" is subjective and can be interpreted in various ways. It often implies a reduction in spice levels, a sweeter flavor profile, and potentially a less adventurous approach to ingredients and textures compared to more traditional Chinese cuisine. Whether this is a positive or negative depends entirely on individual preferences.
For local users in Woodland Park and the surrounding areas, these contrasting reviews highlight the importance of individual taste preferences when considering Fortune Dragon. If you prefer a milder, perhaps sweeter, and less intensely flavored version of Chinese food, you might align with the positive reviewer's experience. However, if you are seeking more authentic and robust Chinese flavors with well-prepared textures and appropriate spice levels for dishes labeled as "hot pepper," you might be disappointed based on the negative review.
Information regarding the services offered by Fortune Dragon is limited to the mention of a server refilling water glasses, implying dine-in service. It is also likely that they offer takeout, as is common for most Chinese restaurants. However, details about the efficiency of service, the availability of delivery, or the overall dining experience beyond the food and basic decor are not provided in these reviews.
Similarly, there is no promotional information available in the provided text. Local users interested in potential specials, discounts, or new menu items at Fortune Dragon may need to contact the restaurant directly or check local online listings or social media if they have a presence there.
In conclusion, Fortune Dragon in Woodland Park, CO, presents a mixed bag of customer experiences based on the available reviews. While one customer found the food to be among the best in the region and highly recommended it, another found it to be bland, inauthentic, and poorly prepared. The dining room is described as plain. The service received at least one positive mention for attentiveness to drinks. Potential customers should consider their own preferences for Chinese cuisine – whether they prefer a milder, Americanized style or a more traditional and flavorful approach – when deciding whether to try Fortune Dragon. Given the strong divergence in opinions, personal experience might be the best way to determine if this restaurant aligns with individual tastes.

I've passed by this place so many times over the years. ... I won't anymore. Some of the best Chinese food I've had in the Colorado Springs area. Worth the drive to Woodland Park even. Dining room is quite plain and unremarkable, but i don't go out to eat for the decor generally. We'll be back again. Highly recommend A+
This place has all the tell tail signs of a good Chinese restaurant. But its not, the food has been tailored for the pallet of a white person. We ordered 4 different dishes, three meats with hot pepper, chicken fried rice, and chicken lou mien. All of them had chewy meat, slimy consistency, no spice on the spicy dishes, and just a general lack of flavor. The lou mien and three meats with hot peppers were both drowned in sauce and just felt soggy. It's almost like they took Panda Express and made it even more white, bland, mushy, and flavorless. It's hard for me to believe that people actually think this place is good. Maybe if you've never had real Chinese food or have never been to the east or west coast and haven't eaten anything with flavor before in your life, this could be for you. I did like how our server kept our water glasses full.
Food was decent, otherwise I would have given 4 stars. The 3 stars is for poor customer service. Be aware, if you order carryout for dinner silverware won't be provided. Also, be wary of big pot holes in the small parking lot. We just moved to Woodland Park, and we were very hungry from a long drive. We found Fortune Dragon and decided to try it. I picked up a sealed bag and returned home. However, we couldn't enjoy the food right away, since there was no disposable silverware. Unfortunately, we had none since our delivery truck hadn't arrived yet. It is standard practice to include silverware for carry out (even at fast food), since people might enjoy in situation where they have none. I had to return and ask for some silverware and explained our situation, but the worker did not try to make up for the issue besides giving silverware and giving an excuse. The food was decent enough for chinese food, but the experience gave us a negative first impression.
Great Chinese food, big value, and all your favorite dishes. They have lunch specials too. Check them out!
We have been coming here for years because the food was so delicious in the past, but now it's awful!! Like today, we ordered chicken fried rice, wonton soup and cheese wontons. We were the only customers there. The rice was flavorless. The soup was water with soy sauce and the cheese wontons didn't have cheese. They were just fried wonton skins, without the cheese!! My mom called them geez wontons because she said, geez, where's the cheese? And they tasted rancid, possibly because of old oil they were fried in. And I'll say it again. We were the only people there!! . I have been here probably 70 times in the last ten years and the food used to be good, now it's disgusting! We were here about a month ago and it was gross, the birds wouldn't even eat it. My mom and I both got sick today. Fortune Dragon, you have lost our business for good. I don't know what happened to your standards but I think they went in the trash, just like today's meal. GOOGLE REMOVED THE PHOTOS I POSTED. NOT SURPRISED AT ALL
