About Fortune Cookie Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to Fortune Cookie Chinese Restaurant, located at 1518 E 3rd St #110 in Charlotte, North Carolina. With contact phone numbers (704) 377-1388 and +1 704-377-1388, Fortune Cookie Chinese Restaurant serves the local Charlotte community, offering a range of Chinese cuisine options. As a Chinese Restaurant, we aim to provide our customers with various dining choices; however, recent customer feedback indicates significant concerns regarding service and food quality.

Based on recent reviews from customers who have patronized Fortune Cookie Chinese Restaurant, there are serious issues that potential diners should be aware of. One long-time customer, who lives nearby, expressed extreme disappointment following a recent visit due to a "lack of service and common decency." This reviewer described a consistently unwelcoming attitude experienced during their visits. On a particular occasion when picking up a to-go order, the manager (described as an Asian gentleman with blonde highlights who refused to give his name) allegedly placed the order on the counter, turned away without any verbal interaction or eye contact, and continued a conversation with an employee. The customer felt this behavior was disrespectful and indicative of a broader issue with how business is conducted at this location. When the customer called to inquire about this treatment, the manager reportedly cited working 12-hour shifts as an explanation, which the reviewer found to be an unacceptable excuse, especially for someone in a management position. This customer, who stated they are not typically one to leave restaurant reviews (this being their first), noted that they have never consistently felt so unwelcome at any other establishment in Charlotte and, being a person of color, advised others of color to consider dining elsewhere, vowing to never spend another penny at Fortune Cookie.

Another customer shared an overwhelmingly negative experience, starting their review with "YUCK!" This reviewer had been ordering from Fortune Cookie for over two years but reported receiving "DISGUSTING FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE" on a recent order placed through Beyond Menu online. They had ordered shrimp Chow Mein, expecting a noodle dish based on their Google search. However, the order that arrived was described as a "wet, undercooked shrimp and vegetables dish" that was inedible. As the only person at work, the customer called to request bringing the order back for a refund. The response from the woman on the phone was to contact Beyond Menu for resolution. Despite contacting Beyond Menu, the customer was informed that they could not provide a refund and that the restaurant needed to handle the issue. Upon calling Fortune Cookie again to request the contact information for the General Manager or Owner, the young lady who answered reportedly displayed a negative attitude and hung up on the customer. This reviewer strongly advised against ordering from Fortune Cookie if one is not confident in their food, as they believe the restaurant will not rectify any problems they cause. Drawing on nearly eight years of experience in the restaurant and catering business, this customer stated that the handling of their complaint was entirely inappropriate and the worst experience they had ever had at this location.

The stark and strongly negative nature of these two reviews paints a concerning picture of the customer service and potentially the food quality at Fortune Cookie Chinese Restaurant. The allegations of rude and dismissive behavior from the manager and staff, coupled with the description of inedible and incorrectly prepared food, are serious issues that prospective customers should consider. The lack of resolution for a significant order problem further exacerbates these concerns.

Given the content of these reviews, it is challenging to provide a positive description of the environment or services. The first review highlights an "un inviting attitude" that permeates the visits, suggesting a negative atmosphere. The second review details a complete breakdown in customer service when attempting to resolve an issue with a food order. These accounts do not offer any positive insights into the dine-in experience or the efficiency of their service.

Features that might typically define a Chinese restaurant, such as menu variety or food quality, are called into question by the recent feedback. The discrepancy between what was ordered (shrimp Chow Mein as a noodle dish) and what was received (a wet, undercooked shrimp and vegetable dish) indicates potential issues with menu clarity or order fulfillment. The description of "disgusting food" and the inability to resolve the issue suggest a lack of quality control and customer care.

Promotional information is entirely absent from the provided reviews. Given the serious nature of the complaints regarding service and food quality, it is unlikely that customers would be focused on or sharing details about promotions. Local users would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about any current specials, but the recent feedback might deter many from doing so.

In conclusion, recent customer reviews for Fortune Cookie Chinese Restaurant in Charlotte, NC, paint a concerning picture of poor customer service, rude staff (including management), and potentially substandard food quality, including issues with incorrect order preparation. The lack of willingness to resolve customer complaints is also a significant issue highlighted in the feedback. Potential customers are strongly advised to consider these recent experiences when deciding whether to patronize Fortune Cookie Chinese Restaurant. For any information regarding the menu, services, or potential promotions, direct contact with the restaurant would be necessary, but the provided reviews suggest caution.

I’m a long time customer of fortune cookie as I live nearby. After my visit today I was so upset with the lack of service and common decency I had to leave a review. Every time I visit this location I’m overwhelmed with a very un inviting attitude. I’m never greeted, today when picking up my to go order the manager of the store who refuses to give his name( Asian gentleman with blonde highlights) plopped my order on the counter turned away and continued to talk with his employee. I guess I’m not worthy of any words or eye contact apparently. I called and asked why they conduct business in such a way and his response was that he works 12 hour shifts. I understand how a demanding can take its toll but that’s a poor excuse especially as a manager. I’m not even the type to leave restaurant reviews as this is my first one. I’ve never consistently felt so unwelcomed anywhere else in Charlotte. If you are a person of color consider dining elsewhere. Fortune cookie will not be getting even one more penny from me.

I want to start off by saying YUCK! I have ordered from this location for over two years and have never gotten such DISGUSTING FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered from Beyond Menu online, a dish that I haven't tried before. I google, shrimp Chow Mein, and its a noodle dish. The order arrives to me and its this wet, undercooked shrimp and vegetables dish that I can't consume. I'm the only person at work so I call and ask if I can bring the order back myself and receive a refund. The woman on the phone says the call Beyond Menu and they should handle it. Long story short, Beyond Menu couldn't do anything for me and asked for resolution from the restaurant. When I call back to ask for the GM or Owners contact information(because I have worked for a franchise before, the owners contact information is always available)the young lady has a attitude and hangs up. Don't order from this place if you aren't confident in their food because they will not fix any problems they have caused. Worst experience I have ever had at this location. As I Said before, I have worked in the restaurant and catering business for nearly 8 years and that's simply not how you handle a customers complaint. 1st picture is what I received and the 2nd picture is what I thought I was ordering.

Well, actually there’s nothing much to say. Authentic Chinese food, enough serve, delicious, and very economical price. Fortune special chicken is highly recommended. Others are also very tasty :P

I’ve been coming here for years. I have no issues with the food. It’s always hot, good portions and it’s good food. However the young Hispanic lady taking orders is extremely rude. She’s not friendly and lacks customer service skills.

Stopped by to get lunch (dine-in). Ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan lunch specials and it comes with egg roll and fried rice. The moo goo gai pan itself was good and the egg roll is decent. The fried rice tasted like rice mixed with soy sauce and not properly fried nor mixed. Definitely recommend regular steamed/white rice instead. Friendly staff and quick service.
