One reviewer specifically mentioned the owner's kindness and the helpfulness of her daughter, who was described as amazing in taking orders and ensuring guests had everything they needed. The prompt seating and attentive service noted by another customer who visited during a less busy time further underscore the restaurant's commitment to customer satisfaction. This family-run aspect appears to translate into a more personal and caring service approach, which is a significant feature for many diners.
The features of Formosa primarily revolve around its menu of traditional-style Chinese cuisine, which resonates with those who appreciate a more classic approach to these dishes. Formosa also caters to more adventurous palates with daily specials that are described as "a little too exotic" by one reviewer, who noted that these specials often feature seafood and other unique dishes. We L❤️ VE this place!! Nestled on top of a hill, surrounded by beautiful plants with such charming architecture!! Every time we order from here, the food is the best!! We went here to celebrate my birthday and got a HUGE family meal. Sesame chicken, pepper beef, chicken and broccoli, egg foo young, lo mein, and of course some egg drop soup and egg rolls. The beef was so tender it melted in my mouth! The variety of vegetables included mushrooms, carrots, bamboo shoots, onions, bell pepper, water chestnuts, snap peas, and more. Everything was super fresh and tasty. If you like the old-school, more traditional style of how chinese food is served, here's the place to go. They also have daily specials that are a little too exotic for me, but if you like seafood, this place seems to offer some unique dishes My daughter asked me to add how nice and sweet the owner is. We were also lucky enough to come on a day her little girl was helping - she was amazing! She took our orders, asked us questions, and made sure we had all that we needed. Family run and local!! Bonus!!
We moved to NWA last year. So there are so many restaurants we have yet to try. We had previously tried Mong Dynasty but weren't fans. According to Google reviews that was supposed to be the best place in Fayetteville, so we were a bit worried about how Formosa was going to be. We ended up being pleasantly surprised. They weren't very busy so we were seated and waited on right away. The lady who sat us and waited on us was super friendly and attentive. The woman who brought our food out was also super friendly. Overall, the service was great. Our food was pretty good. It wasn't the best Chinese food I've ever had in my life but it was good nonetheless. The prices were very reasonable too. I got the kung poa chicken and they cooked it exactly how I ordered it. The kung poa sauce had a good flavor. I would have liked it to be a bit more spicy but I like my stuff really spicy. My wife had the sweet and sour chicken and she really enjoyed it. We'll probably try the other places in town but we definitely felt Formosa is worth going to again.
Food was great my fiance got their orange chicken mild, that sauce was fire/amazing. The price is a bit on the high side but you do get a large quantity that can be shared between more people. Will be visiting again and trying some more of their dishes for sure.
Went there during lunchtime, and it wasn't very busy. The quick and friendly service was great. I had the General Tso's chicken lunch special with fried rice, wonton soup, and an egg roll. The General Tso's chicken was good. I've been to other Asian restaurants and had the same dish where they allowed it to sit in the sauce too long, and it became soggy. It was not soggy at Formosa but delightfully crispy and just enough spice to please your taste buds.
The hot and sour soup is the best around! Don't even bother going anywhere else. I have been going here for the soup and the hot mustard for over 10 years, highly recommend.
