About Foo Lam Chinese Restaurant
Located at 7101 Martin Luther King Jr Way S in Seattle, Foo Lam Chinese Restaurant offers a dining experience focused on authentic Cantonese-style cuisine. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Foo Lam aims to provide traditional flavors and dishes that resonate with those seeking a genuine taste of Cantonese cooking. The restaurant has garnered attention from local diners, particularly families and individuals who appreciate this specific culinary tradition.
According to customer reviews, Foo Lam has become a regular dining spot for families seeking authentic Cantonese flavors. One reviewer mentioned that their family, including themselves and their sister (ages 27 and 28), along with their parents, frequently visit the restaurant for dinner, highlighting its appeal across different age groups who appreciate traditional Chinese cuisine.
A standout dish mentioned in the reviews is the steamed free-range chicken. This dish is noted for its traditional presentation, which, in line with some authentic Chinese culinary practices and superstitions, includes serving the chicken with the head. It is accompanied by a garlic sauce. This particular preparation might be unfamiliar to those who do not regularly visit authentic Chinese restaurants, offering a glimpse into cultural nuances within Cantonese cuisine.
Another highly recommended item on the menu is the honey walnut prawns. This dish is praised for its well-balanced sauce, which is described as not being overly citrusy, and for the prawns not having excessive breading. This suggests a focus on the quality of the ingredients and a skillful preparation that allows the natural flavors to shine through.
Customers have also expressed positive feedback about more adventurous dishes, such as the eel stir fry, which was described as delicious. Additionally, the goose is noted for being flavorful, and the fish dishes are commended for being cooked to a velvety perfection, indicating a high level of culinary skill in preparing a variety of proteins.
However, it is important to present a comprehensive and objective picture based on all available information. One customer shared a concerning experience regarding the crispy noodles. While they initially enjoyed the dish and took leftovers home, they reported discovering a cockroach under the noodles the following day. This is a serious food safety concern that potential customers should be aware of. This isolated report contrasts with the positive experiences shared by other reviewers regarding the taste and authenticity of the food.
Given the available information, Foo Lam Chinese Restaurant presents itself as an establishment that offers authentic Cantonese-style food, with several dishes receiving high praise for their flavor and preparation. The honey walnut prawns, steamed free-range chicken, eel stir fry, and goose are highlighted as particularly enjoyable. The restaurant appears to be a favorite among families looking for traditional Cantonese cuisine in Seattle.
However, the reported incident involving a cockroach in a dish is a significant issue that cannot be ignored. While this seems to be an isolated incident based on the provided reviews, it raises concerns about hygiene standards that potential customers may want to consider. It is crucial for restaurants to maintain high levels of cleanliness and food safety to ensure a positive and healthy dining experience for all patrons.

As a Chinese Restaurant in Seattle, Foo Lam aims to cater to those seeking traditional Cantonese dishes. The positive reviews suggest that they succeed in delivering flavorful and authentic food in several of their offerings. However, the importance of maintaining stringent hygiene standards in any food establishment cannot be overstated, and the reported incident should serve as a reminder of this critical aspect of restaurant operation.

My family and I regularly go to Foo Lam for dinner. This place has authentic Cantonese style Chinese food that both me and my sister (27, 28) and our parents visit. We ordered the steamed free range chicken and for people who don’t visit authentic Chinese restaurants regularly, they serve it WITH the chicken head for good luck (Chinese superstition) which was served with a garlic sauce. The honey walnut prawns is a must! The sauce is not too citrusy and doesn’t have too much breading. We tried this eel stir fry for the first time and it was delicious! The goose is so flavorful and the fish was cooked just right so it was super velvety.
I went here yesterday. Me and my boyfriend decided to eat here because I love the crispy noodles that they make. But we couldn’t finish the noodles so we decided to take it home, I put it on the fridge and decided to eat it today. I was so happy eating all of it until I stir up the noodles I couldn’t believe on what I saw! Under of the noodles that we ate has cockroach! I couldn’t believe of my own eyes on what I saw! I even bought one take home order for my family!
I wanted to give a new place a try so my family and I made a sizable order to try a variety of items(general Tao’s chicken, honey chicken wings, salt and pepper chicken, green beens. Honey walnut shrimp, steamed rice, green onion chicken, Singaporean fried rice noodles, a variety of items). The biggest surprise was the green onion chicken. 🐔 it actually had the head in there. I didn’t expect that. There was a lot of breading on the generals chicken and the honey chicken wings. I didn’t like the honey walnut shrimp at all. I was most excited for the green beans but they were also underwhelming, but good. The rice noodles were flavorful but I wasn’t sure about the meat. I realize that this review isn’t favorable, but it’s my true experience. We spent a lot of money to not at all be satisfied with our meal.
This place has the best lobster over noodles in all of Seattle and maybe even better than some places in Vancouver. Lobster is pillowy and succulent never over cooked the consume over the noodles is not salty bu still has a delicate Lobster flavor. Price is reasonable and sometimes they have great live seafood specials.
Very delicious food! The restaurant was completely packed on Christmas. Like other reviews, the restaurant was not transparent about the service charge and pressured additional tipping.
