About Flavors Fish

Welcome to Flavors Fish, a Chinese restaurant situated at 136-20 Roosevelt Ave in the bustling neighborhood of Flushing, New York (zip code 11354). As a Chinese Restaurant, Flavors Fish appears to specialize in fish-based dishes, with a particular emphasis on their well-received sour fish soup. You can contact them at their phone number (732) 971-7777 or their mobile number +1 732-971-7777 for inquiries or to place an order.

Information regarding the specific environment of Flavors Fish is limited. However, as a restaurant focusing on fish dishes, it might be expected to have a clean and possibly seafood-themed ambiance. One positive review mentions a friendly staff member, which suggests a welcoming and hospitable service environment for customers dining in. However, it is crucial to address a concerning observation from another reviewer who described the fish tanks visible to customers as being in "filthy water" with signs of high fish waste and inadequate oxygen levels. This observation, if accurate and persistent, could significantly impact a customer's perception of the restaurant's hygiene and overall environment. Potential customers may want to consider this feedback when deciding to dine at or order from Flavors Fish.

In terms of services, Flavors Fish likely offers dine-in options for customers who wish to enjoy their meals at the restaurant. The mention of ordering a medium-sized sour fish soup with rice suggests that they cater to individual diners and possibly groups. While delivery services are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, it is common for restaurants in this category to offer takeout, and potentially delivery through their own means or third-party platforms. Interested customers are advised to contact Flavors Fish directly to inquire about the availability of takeout and delivery options in the Flushing area.

A prominent feature of Flavors Fish, based on the positive feedback, is their "yummy sour fish soup." One reviewer specifically highlighted this dish, noting that a medium size costs US$25 and comes with two rice portions. They also mentioned that it contains "lots of fish slices and Vegetables" and found it to be warming during the cold winter in Flushing. This detailed description suggests that the sour fish soup is a substantial and flavorful offering, potentially a signature dish that attracts customers. The price point indicates it might be a more premium item on their menu.

The friendly demeanor of the staff is also noted as a positive feature, with one reviewer mentioning that "the lady is very friendly too." This aspect of customer service can significantly enhance the overall dining experience, making customers feel welcome and valued.

However, it is imperative to address the serious concern raised by another reviewer regarding the conditions of the live fish tanks visible to customers. This reviewer described the water as "filthy" and "grey," with bubbles indicating high levels of fish waste and fish "gasping for oxygen." They also noted that similar conditions were visible in photos posted a year prior, suggesting a potentially ongoing issue. This observation raises significant concerns about the restaurant's hygiene practices and the well-being of the live seafood on display. The reviewer explicitly stated that they would "never eat here" based on these observations, indicating the severity of their concern.

Given this starkly contrasting feedback, potential customers are presented with a dilemma. On one hand, there is positive feedback regarding the taste and quality of the sour fish soup and the friendliness of the staff. On the other hand, there are serious allegations about the unhygienic conditions of the live fish tanks visible to the public. This discrepancy suggests a potential disconnect between the quality of the prepared food and the overall hygiene standards of the establishment, at least in the visible areas.

Without further information or clarification from the restaurant regarding the concerns about the fish tanks, it is challenging to provide a fully objective assessment. Local users considering Flavors Fish should be aware of both the positive remarks about the sour fish soup and the significant negative observations regarding the cleanliness of the fish tanks. It might be prudent to inquire with the restaurant directly about their hygiene practices and the conditions of their live seafood displays before deciding to dine there.

No specific promotional information was available in the provided reviews. To learn about any current specials, discounts, or promotions that Flavors Fish might be offering, it would be best to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers.

In conclusion, Flavors Fish in Flushing appears to be a Chinese restaurant known for its sour fish soup, which has been described as yummy, substantial, and warming. The friendly service is also a noted positive aspect. However, a serious concern has been raised by a customer regarding the "filthy" conditions of the live fish tanks visible in the restaurant, suggesting potential hygiene issues. Local users should weigh the positive feedback on the food and service against this significant concern when considering dining at or ordering from Flavors Fish. It is recommended to seek further information from the restaurant regarding their hygiene practices before making a decision.

I came here the other day and saw the fish swimming in filthy water. The bubbles on top of the water indicate high levels of fish waste, not to mention that the water is grey. You can see the fish are all gasping for oxygen because the bubbles prevent adequate gas exchange. I notice the same conditions in photos posted here a year ago. This is the display of the store, I can only imagine what happens in the back. I would never eat here.

Ordered kidney and string beans to go. Kidney is thin, very hard, no cross cut or not deep enough, smells ammonia. The worst I have had, 0/5. String beans are tender, 4/5, 1 point off on the taste. Overall, will not try again.
