About First Wok

First Wok is a Chinese restaurant located at 6219 Allisonville Rd in Indianapolis, Indiana, serving the local community with a variety of Chinese dishes. As a Chinese restaurant in the Indianapolis area, First Wok likely provides options for takeout, and potentially dine-in and delivery services. Recent customer reviews offer insights into their menu and pricing structure, particularly regarding their fried rice and a specific shrimp dish.

One customer shared a disappointing experience with their order of house fried rice. They noted that, typically, house fried rice from most Chinese restaurants includes a substantial amount of meat, vegetables, and egg. However, the house fried rice from First Wok contained very little meat, no egg, and almost no vegetables, consisting primarily of rice. This customer further discovered that the inclusion of these standard ingredients required a specific request and would result in an additional charge to the base price, which was already around $9.00. Ultimately, this customer felt compelled to add their own desired ingredients at home, expressing disappointment with the value and stating that they saw no reason to order again, especially since they could prepare a more satisfactory version themselves.

In contrast, another customer had a positive experience with First Wok, specifically recommending it for Chinese takeout in the 46220 or 46226 area codes. They highlighted the "Shrimp with Garlic Sauce," mentioning a large order served with white rice priced at only $10. This review suggests that First Wok offers at least one dish that is considered a good value for the portion size and price. The specific mention of takeout indicates that this is a service offered by the restaurant, catering to those who prefer to enjoy their meals at home.

The contrasting experiences suggest that while some dishes at First Wok might be well-received and reasonably priced, others, like the house fried rice as described by one customer, may not meet typical expectations in terms of included ingredients and value. The information about needing to request and pay extra for standard fried rice ingredients is a crucial point for potential customers to consider.

The available reviews do not provide any details about the environment or ambiance of First Wok, so it is not possible to describe the dine-in experience. The positive review focuses solely on the takeout service and the specific shrimp dish. Therefore, potential customers seeking information about dining in would need to look for additional reviews or contact the restaurant directly.

The services offered by First Wok include takeout, as explicitly mentioned by a satisfied customer. The negative review also implies the availability of takeout. Whether First Wok offers delivery services is not stated in the provided feedback. Local users interested in delivery options would need to inquire with the restaurant directly.

The only promotional information gleaned from the reviews is the price of the "Shrimp with Garlic Sauce, Large order with white rice" at $10. There is no other mention of discounts, specials, or other popular menu items. Potential customers looking for a broader understanding of their menu and pricing would need to consult the restaurant's menu or contact them directly.

For local users in Indianapolis, particularly those in the 46220 and 46226 area codes looking for Chinese takeout, First Wok presents a mixed profile. The "Shrimp with Garlic Sauce" is highlighted as a good value. However, potential customers ordering the house fried rice should be aware that standard ingredients like meat, vegetables, and egg may not be included and would incur an additional cost. This suggests that it might be beneficial to inquire about the ingredients of specific dishes and any associated costs when placing an order.

To learn more about First Wok, including their full menu, dine-in or delivery options, hours of operation, and any current promotions beyond the mentioned shrimp dish, local users can contact them at (317) 253-8433 or +1 317-253-8433. Visiting their location at 6219 Allisonville Rd might also provide additional insights into the restaurant's offerings and environment.

In conclusion, First Wok in Indianapolis offers Chinese cuisine with at least one highly recommended takeout dish, the "Shrimp with Garlic Sauce." However, potential customers should be aware of the pricing and ingredient structure of other dishes, such as the house fried rice, where standard additions may cost extra. Further inquiry with the restaurant is recommended to understand their full menu and services.

I ordered house fried rice which at most places is full of meat, vegetables and egg. Their fried rice had little meat, no egg and almost no vegetables, so mainly rice. I found out that you have to add those normal ingredients by request and it adds to the price which was already around $9.00. I had to add all the desired normal ingredients myself at home. Disappointed and no reason to order again when I can make better and easier.

First wok has lost their touch. Now when I order the beef and broccoli it has no taste. The meat tastes like it was boil and water no season no nothing and the broccoli was soggy. I don't know what happened but I won't be going there anymore not only because the taste of the food but the price seem like it almost double.

First visit. Doubt I’ll try this place again. Wanted to try something different. I ordered the curry chicken. NO, JUST NO trust me lol 😂 Flavor was off. Had to doctor it up once I got home. I feel like I wasted my money smh 🤦🏾‍♀️ Mostly vegetables hardly any meat! Literally like 80-85% veggies!
