About First Szechuan Wok
For our local users in US interested in understanding the diverse landscape of Chinese restaurants and meal delivery services in other regions, we present First Szechuan Wok, located at 10855 Lindbrook Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90024, USA. This establishment identifies as a Chinese restaurant and offers meal delivery to its customers.
Based on recent customer reviews, First Szechuan Wok has received significant criticism regarding its food quality. One reviewer strongly advised to "AVOID THIS PLACE!!!" citing an experience of being sold "days old reheated food" with a noticeable "refrigerator" taste. This customer also reported their Kung Pao Shrimp with Fried Rice was prepared very quickly (within 3-5 minutes), and the egg roll appeared to be refried with a mushy interior. Despite a pleasant waiter, the overall experience was negative due to the perceived poor quality of the food.
Another reviewer expressed a desire to like the restaurant due to its proximity but ultimately found it "not very good." They noted a lack of authentic Sichuan dishes, suggesting the menu caters more to a western palate. While the egg drop soup was considered "good" and reminiscent of childhood Chinese restaurants, it was also described as "very western." Other dishes, such as the chicken boiled dumplings, were reported to have "little taste," relying on the accompanying sauce for flavor. The Kung Pao 3 ways was described as "uninspired," with the meat having an unusual consistency and the sauce tasting like a "frozen syrup packet." Although this reviewer did not experience reheated food, they also did not find the food to be of great quality.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Literally sold me days old reheated food. I could taste the refrigerator on the food. I ordered Kung Pao Shrimp with Fried Rice and it literally came out in 3-5 minutes. The egg role was refried and the inside was literally mush. It looks nice but they serve trash. The waiter was pleasant but that didn't stop him from serving me mushy old food.
I wanted to like this place because it's so close to my apartment. But it's not very good. Very few if any actual Sichuan dishes. As someone else commented, it caters to the western palate. Not very authentic. The egg drop soup tasted good, and reminded me of childhood Chinese restaurants in Delaware. But again, very western. The chicken boiled dumplings had little taste. The sauce spiced them up, though. The Kung Pao 3 ways was uninspired. The meat had a weird non-meat consistency, was a little too salty and tasted like a frozen syrup packet rather than a hand made sauce. The food came out very fast, but didn't taste reheated as some have said. But it didn't taste great, either. I imagine some of the other dishes taste better.
First Szechuan Wok is a hidden Westwood gem. I can't believe I passed by this location for several years before finally trying it. A friend suggested we eat here, let's just say I will be going back many times. I happened to meet the owner and his wife who were happy to welcome me in. They have owned the place for 19 years, it is family run to this day. The dinner started off with hot tea, we ordered a LOT of food here. All family style. Wonton soup, egg rolls, egg foo young, dumplings, noodles, baby bok choy with mushroom, and more. I really enjoyed everything and wouldn't be able to pick a favorite item. I ESPECIALLY love the bok choy and mushroom dish. Bok choy cooked just right and the mushrooms were delicious of course. The wonton soup was quite delicious with the hot chili oil and vinegar.. I love hot chili oil anywhere but this one was even more tasty than I remember at other places. After all I didn't get a chance to eat the entire menu but got a great selection from here. I will definitely be back. They are really quite hospitable and the service and food were both spectacular.
Gross. Traditional Chinese chicken? So salty I can't eat it. Terrible.
I came here with my friends for dinner after doing a walk-through in Hollywood. The place was empty for a Saturday night, so we got the full attention of the waiter. We ordered orange chicken, fried rice, sliced chicken with snow pea pods, and beef broccoli. It was ordered in the style of family portions, but the plates of food were small. The food was good, and the fried rice was very tasty. My only complaint was the food portions felt small. We had to order one more time to bring more food because we still felt hungry. The server was nice to bring oranges at the end as dessert. Overall, the server was nice, the food was delicious, but they need to put bigger portions.
