Overall this was a disappointing experience for us…it’s a cute place, service was great but the food was not. I had the chicken pho which was lukewarm at best but not bad in terms of the flavor combination: loved the cilantro and the dumplings in it, I would say a 4/5 for me! My mom tried the tuna poke bowl and it was a miss(2/5): the fish did not taste fresh 🫣 and both the rice and edamame were undercooked. My daughter enjoyed the California bowl, I tried it and thought it was nothing special. The shrimp toast she picked as an appetizer was a waste of $15: we didn’t even finish it and it’s tiny! Maybe we caught them on an off night after the holidays (given the many great reviews here) but probably won’t be back to find out if that’s the case!

Went to Fatt Root for a Saturday late lunch and we had a great time here. The service was excellent and we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered the classic pork belly ramen, chicken bao bun and some Korean chicken wings. The bao bun was amazing and the chicken wings were cooked very well. The ramen was good. The only thing I wasn’t a big fan of was their Vietnamese coffee which had way too much cinnamon in for my taste.

Everything is tasty even the cocktails !! Very substantial portion and cute atmosphere with friendly service. But I do recommend giving a spoon for rice dishes instead of just chopsticks because the rice is not as sticky as Japanese cook rice.

Fatt Root in Pleasantville offers a delightful dive into Asian street food, promising an experience that is both flavorful and satisfying. The restaurant's menu shines with a variety of choices including noodles, dumplings, and an array of exciting rice bowls. Standouts include the spicy and nutty Dan Dan Noodles, succulently saucy ribs, and the perfectly steamed bao buns. For those seeking plant-based options, the vegan selections do not disappoint, with dishes like the Kimchi Tofu Egg Bowl and Avocado Tofu 'Poke' Bowl. The Spicy Chicken and Crispy Chicken bowls are also worth mentioning for those who prefer a bit of heat and crunch. Let’s be honest though - you come here for the heat and crunch!! Complementing the solid food menu is a selection of great cocktails and rotating beers on tap, making Fatt Root a go-to spot for both food lovers and cocktail enthusiasts alike. Parking can be tricky in Pleasantville but with a little patience, you’ll find a spot quickly. Fatt Root has high chairs for kids and friendly staff. Perfect place for families, date night, a casual meal, or picking up guaranteed delicious food.

I had the Thai curry noodle soup with chicken and it was awesome! Unlike other noodle soup at other restaurants, their chicken has flavors! it has been marinated, grilled (or fried?) then put in the soup. the broth is rich and delicious, a bit of a kick but not overly powerful. I love the pickled muster greens and crispy fried noodles that gave it a crunch. Overall, I was very happy about it. Will come again to try other stuff.
