About Fatima's Halal
Fatima's Halal is a Chinese restaurant located at 83-25 Parsons Blvd, Queens, NY 11432, USA. Situated in the heart of Queens, this establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category offers a unique aspect by providing Halal options, catering to a specific dietary requirement within the community. You can contact them at (718) 291-4999 or via their mobile number, +1 718-291-4999.
Customer reviews for Fatima's Halal present a somewhat mixed picture, highlighting both strengths and areas that may need improvement. On the positive side, one reviewer with vegetarian preferences had an excellent experience, praising the "incredibly soft" tofu and the "melt-in-your-mouth delicious" eggplant in the vegetarian dishes they ordered. This suggests that Fatima's Halal offers commendable vegetarian options that are flavorful and well-prepared, making it a potential choice for those seeking meat-free Chinese cuisine.
Another reviewer, who identifies as being in the restaurant business, provided a more detailed and critical analysis. While acknowledging that "people will ALWAYS come back if the food is GREAT," they found the food at Fatima's Halal to be "OKAY at best" after two takeout orders. A significant issue raised was the lack of taste in the dishes, with the exception of the shrimp, which was described as "VERY TASTY." The rest of the dish reportedly had "no flavor at all." On the positive side, this reviewer noted the generous amount of "FRESH VEGETABLES" and the "HUGE" portions, suggesting that the restaurant aims to satisfy customers with the quantity and freshness of ingredients.
However, this reviewer also detailed issues with spice levels in their orders. On two separate occasions, they requested their dish to be made extra spicy, but both times it lacked any significant spiciness or flavor. The first time, the chef apparently added a large quantity of dried red Chinese peppers after cooking, which did not effectively infuse the dish with heat. The second time, the request for extra spice was seemingly forgotten altogether, and no chili peppers were added. This inconsistency and lack of attention to specific requests regarding flavor and spice are points of concern raised in the reviews.
Despite the criticisms regarding flavor, the service at Fatima's Halal received high praise. The counter staff who take orders were described as "SUPER FRIENDLY," and the food was noted to come out "VERY FAST." This efficient and welcoming service is a significant positive aspect of the customer experience at Fatima's Halal.
Regarding the environment, one reviewer commented on the interior decor, stating that it looks "so so." However, they also emphasized that the restaurant is "VERY CLEAN" and, despite being small, offers "a few good tables to sit at." This suggests that while the ambiance might not be particularly stylish or modern, the cleanliness and availability of seating are satisfactory.
Features of Fatima's Halal include its Halal certification, catering to customers with specific dietary requirements. They offer vegetarian dishes that have been positively reviewed for their taste and texture. The restaurant is also characterized by its super-friendly and fast service, large portion sizes, and the use of fresh vegetables in their dishes. However, a notable challenge appears to be the consistency and depth of flavor in some of their main dishes, particularly those that are not naturally flavorful like shrimp or those requested to be spicy.
One reviewer mentioned that Fatima's Halal might be missing salt in their dishes and credited a small container of hot chili oil provided on the side for adding the missing flavor. This suggests that the restaurant might rely on condiments to enhance the taste of their food, rather than building robust flavors during the cooking process. The reviewer recommended that spicy dishes should be prepared with chili oil during cooking, rather than providing it as an afterthought.
The reviewer also noted that the restaurant has a "big heater" making it "warm and cosy inside during the winter," which could be a pleasant feature for dine-in customers during colder months. They also indicated that prices and the cash-only policy were acceptable to them, especially considering the generous portion sizes and fast service.
The core issue identified by one reviewer seems to be the chef's approach to cooking, suggesting a lack of attention to building flavor profiles. The reviewer believes that if the owner were to address this by tasting all the dishes with staff and making necessary improvements, Fatima's Halal could become a place to eat "GREAT food." They also pointed out that while Fatima's Halal is not a bad place, it is not exceptional compared to other Chinese restaurants, especially when considering the more diverse and flavorful options available in areas like Flushing.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any special offers, discounts, or new menu items at Fatima's Halal should contact the restaurant directly.
For local users in Queens, NY, seeking a Halal Chinese restaurant, Fatima's Halal offers a unique option with praised vegetarian dishes, friendly and fast service, and generous portions with fresh vegetables. However, potential customers should be aware of the mixed reviews regarding the overall flavor of some dishes and the inconsistency in spice levels. If you prioritize Halal options, friendly service, and large portions, and are open to potentially adding your own seasoning or utilizing provided condiments, Fatima's Halal might be worth trying. The positive feedback on vegetarian dishes is also a strong point for those with dietary restrictions.
To get a more comprehensive understanding, exploring additional reviews might provide further insights into specific dishes that are consistently well-received and any recent improvements in flavor profiles. However, based on the current feedback, Fatima's Halal has several commendable aspects but could benefit from a greater focus on enhancing the taste and consistency of their main dishes.
In conclusion, Fatima's Halal in Queens, NY, is a Chinese restaurant notable for its Halal offerings, excellent vegetarian options, friendly and fast service, and generous portions with fresh vegetables. While it receives praise for these aspects, some customers have reported issues with the lack of flavor in certain dishes and inconsistencies in spice levels, suggesting that flavor enhancement in their core menu items could further elevate the dining experience.

Customer Reviews
Excellent Chinese food. We had 3 vegetarian dishes. The tofu was incredibly soft, and the eggplant was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I will come here again for food.
I will say this because I am in the restaurant business myself: people will ALWAYS come back if the food is GREAT. Not okay. Not good. But GREAT. With that in mind, I will say that the food is OKAY at best. I have been here twice already and ordered TO GO both times. When I got home and tried out the dish there was ZERO TASTE. The shrimp in the dish was VERY TASTY but the rest of the dish had no flavor at all. Nothing. I guess I could have added my own salt at home. On the plus side the dish had a lot of FRESH VEGETABLES which is a GREAT THING. The portions are HUGE, so it’s clear that they want to make the guest happy. The other issue is that the first time I was there I asked for the dish to be make extra spicy but it was NOT spicy at all and had ZERO FLAVOR. Instead the chef threw in a lot of dried red Chinese peppers, which somehow did NOT make the dish spicy. So I realized what the chef did. He made the dish not caring if it was spicy or not and THEN threw in the dried red Chinese peppers at the last minute. No problem. The SECOND TIME I asked for the same dish and again asked for it to be made extra spicy. And AGAIN the same dish had NO FLAVOR, ZERO TASTE. But this time the chef didn’t put any dried red Chinese peppers at all!!! He just completely forgot. He FORGOT OR DID NOT care to make it spicy AND also did not put any dried red Chinese peppers in the dish. When I looked at the ticket stapled to the paper bag it CLEARLY said at the bottom to make the dish spicy. So the problem at this restaurant is the chef, judging from all the bad reviews I have read. The girls at the counter who take the order are SUPER FRIENDLY and the food comes out VERY FAST. Fatima Halal needs to do something about the interior decor of the restaurant. YES, it IS a VERY CLEAN restaurant, and even though the place is small they do have a few good tables to sit at. The inside of the place looks so so. They have a good reputation from before. But reputation alone is not good enough to keep a business successful. The MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR is the food. I honestly think that salt seems to be missing from their dishes. To the restaurant’s credit they DID give me a small HOT CHILI OIL to go, and when I got home I realized that THIS was the missing flavor in my dish. They should prepare some of their hot and spicy dishes WITH CHILI OIL WHEN THEY ARE MAKING THE DISH and not have to give it on the side!!!! I really hope that the owner reads the reviews because the complaints about NO FLAVOR AND NO TASTE really is true. The place has a big heater and it’s warm and cosy inside during the winter. I honestly don’t care about the prices and that it’s only cash. That’s fine. They DO give plenty of food and the food comes out very fast. Also the vegetables are fresh and the dishes have plenty of them. I think the bigger problem here is the chef. I have a feeling that he just throws the ingredients in the cooking pan and hopes for the best. This restaurant CAN be a good place to eat GREAT food, but the OWNER has to do something about it. The OWNER has to take one day off and with the help of three other employees all of them should taste EACH AND EVERY DISH in the kitchen to see what the issues are and what needs to be fixed. I know of a friend who owns one of the most successful restaurants in the city and she closed the restaurant for one day and tasted all the dishes with three employees and they fixed all the issues. They have been in business for over forty five years. Fatima Hallal is not a bad place. But it’s not a great place either. The problem is that there are many other choices that are NOT Chinese with the same prices that offer far better food. As far as being a Chinese restaurant it is not better than most similar restaurants. But if you were to go to Flushing near Main Street and Roosevelt then the choice of Chinese restaurants with tastier and much more delicious food within the same price category increases. Fatima Halal needs to do just ONE THING. Improve the flavor and taste of the food.
Day by day they are getting worse .. $13 for few pieces of chicken but check the picture , Garlic chicken container is full with broccoli and mushroom .. they are so popular now they just don’t care about their service.. 0 star from me .. container full of vegetable 😡😡.. they just put few chicken on top .. chilli chicken is also same .. whole container is full with chilli and extra oil 🤮🤮
Fatima's Halal is the best go-to Halal Chinese Restaurant if your on a budget, I was told to try this place when I did research, I went with my friend and it was an interesting experience to visit the restaurant. The Chicken Broccoli was giving, savory, and delicious, while my friend had the chicken wings with the fries. Overall, a 10/10 Experience for the food and the restaurant's quality. Would Come back again.
Delicious authentic Chinese Food at a busy location. They relocated from Astoria. New place is clean but smaller. Soup is tasty. Shrimp fried rice is delicious. Noodles are well balanced & satisfy the taste buds. Portion size is good. They use disposable plates and carry-on containers to serve to make it cost effective.
