About Famous Kitchen
Welcome to Famous Kitchen, a Chinese restaurant located at 1802 12th Ave NW C, Issaquah, WA 98027, USA. You can contact us at (425) 657-0478 or our mobile number +1 425-657-0478 for inquiries or to place an order. As a Chinese restaurant in Issaquah, Famous Kitchen aims to bring the authentic flavors of Cantonese cuisine, particularly its roasted meats, to the local community.
Based on recent customer reviews, Famous Kitchen appears to offer a unique dining experience with a focus on specific Cantonese specialties. One reviewer, a recent transplant from Bellevue, noted the contrast with the more extensive Asian restaurant scene there and expressed delight in discovering Famous Kitchen. This customer specifically praised the delicious Cantonese dishes and the roasted meats available, including duck, pork, and chicken.
The roasted duck was highlighted as a standout dish and a personal favorite. The reviewer noted that, unlike other establishments where roasted duck can be mostly bones, Famous Kitchen provides meaty portions with a perfectly balanced flavor, featuring just the right amount of seasoning without being overly salty. This suggests that the roasted duck is a signature dish that many customers appreciate for its quality and taste.
Furthermore, this reviewer mentioned having explored several other dishes on the menu, many of which were described as unique and not commonly found elsewhere. This indicates that Famous Kitchen might offer a more specialized or less mainstream selection of Chinese dishes, potentially providing a more adventurous and flavorful dining experience for those looking beyond standard Chinese-American fare. The reviewer concluded by calling Famous Kitchen a "hidden gem" that offers a unique and flavorful dining experience, strongly recommending it.
However, not all feedback has been entirely positive. One concerning review mentioned an observation regarding food handling practices. This reviewer stated that the takeout box with their BBQ pork was weighed, which is a standard practice to ensure accurate portions. However, they also reported witnessing a staff member chopping their BBQ pork without washing their hands after apparently taking a nap at a table. This raises significant concerns about hygiene and food safety practices at the restaurant and is a point that potential customers should be aware of.
Another review provided mixed feedback on specific dishes. The Salted fish chicken fried rice was described as "really good," and the White cut chicken was also praised as "great." However, this reviewer expressed disappointment with the Shrimp wonton noodles soup, noting that the shrimp in the wontons was very dry and lacked flavor. This suggests that while some dishes at Famous Kitchen are well-received, the quality and preparation might vary across the menu. The reviewer also mentioned that, in their opinion, the best Wonton Noodle Soup is found at a specific restaurant in Seattle, implying that Famous Kitchen's version did not meet their expectations.
The emphasis on Cantonese cuisine and roasted meats (duck, pork, chicken) appears to be a key feature of Famous Kitchen. Cantonese cuisine is known for its fresh ingredients, subtle flavors, and a wide variety of cooking techniques, including roasting. The positive review of the roasted duck suggests that this is a particular strength of the restaurant.
The mention of unique dishes not found elsewhere implies that Famous Kitchen might offer a more authentic or regional Cantonese menu compared to typical Chinese-American restaurants. This could be a significant draw for those seeking a more genuine taste of Chinese cooking.
The service at Famous Kitchen is not explicitly detailed in the reviews, aside from the concerning observation about hand-washing. The fact that one reviewer felt compelled to mention this suggests that it was a notable and negative aspect of their experience. The other positive reviewer did not comment specifically on the service, focusing more on the food quality and uniqueness.
No specific promotional information, such as discounts or special offers, is mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any such promotions would need to contact Famous Kitchen directly.
In conclusion, Famous Kitchen in Issaquah seems to specialize in delicious Cantonese dishes and roasted meats, with the roasted duck receiving high praise for its meaty portions and balanced flavor. The restaurant may also offer unique dishes not commonly found in other Chinese restaurants. However, a significant concern has been raised regarding hygiene practices, specifically the handling of food without proper hand-washing. Additionally, feedback on other dishes, such as the Shrimp wonton noodles soup, has been mixed. Potential customers should weigh the positive reviews regarding the quality of certain Cantonese specialties against the reported hygiene concern and the varying experiences with other menu items when deciding whether to dine at or order from Famous Kitchen.
As a platform providing information on local Chinese restaurants, we aim to present an objective summary of available feedback. The reviews for Famous Kitchen highlight its potential strengths in offering authentic Cantonese cuisine, particularly its roasted meats. However, the serious concern raised about food handling practices is a critical point that should not be overlooked. We encourage the restaurant to address this issue to ensure the health and safety of its customers and to maintain a positive reputation within the Issaquah community. Potential diners may want to inquire about the restaurant's hygiene protocols before making a decision.

Customer Reviews
Having recently moved from Bellevue to the peaceful town of Issaquah, I had to say goodbye to the convenience of Bellevue's vibrant Asian restaurant scene. Luckily, I discovered Famous Kitchen, which offers some of the most delicious Cantonese dishes and roasted meats (duck, pork, chicken). My favorite--the roasted duck--did not disappoint. Unlike other places where the duck is mostly bones, the portions here are very meaty, and the flavor is perfectly balanced--just the right amount of seasoning without being too salty. We've explored several other dishes on the menu, many of which we've never seen or heard of anywhere else. It's definitely a hidden gem, offering a unique and flavorful dining experience.
They weigh the takeout box with your bbq pork. Also, the guy chopped my bbq and didn't wash his hands after taking a nap at the table. Pretty gross. Salted fish chicken fried rice was really good; white cut chicken was great, but I was very disappointed with shrimp wonton noodles soup (shrimp in wonton was very dried and no flavor). Best Wonton Noodle Soup is in Seattle, Beacon Dim Sum House in Seattle!
My wife and I got the Trio Plate and the House Special Noodles, and the roast duck was crispy AND juicy! Glad we found a place in Issaquah that does BBQ right. We’ll be back!
An authentic Chinese food experience. I usually judge a place on their mapo tofu and they killed it! The duck is also amazing!
First time here at the Famous Kitchen. Pretty good experience overall, a solid 4. The Beef brisket noodle soup was disappointing in general, bit of an odd taste for me. The Shrimp fried rice was excellent, as was the Chicken Kongee (rice soup). I always add a dash of hot sauce and soy sauce to mine. Super tasty and fresh Dry String Beans - who knew that green beans could be this flavorful! Last but not least, the Vegetable Seabass was truly excellent and a VERY generous portion, best of the bunch today. Recommended.
