About Empire Express

Welcome to Empire Express, your local Chinese Restaurant situated at 319 9th Street in Brooklyn, New York. As a valued member of the Chinese Restaurant category, Empire Express is dedicated to providing the Brooklyn community with delicious and affordable Americanized Chinese cuisine. Based on recent customer reviews, Empire Express is highly regarded for its tasty food, excellent prices, friendly service, and the unique option of a small daily buffet.

One of the most prominent aspects highlighted by a satisfied customer is the exceptional quality of the food, despite it being described as "American Chinese food" rather than strictly "authentic." This reviewer explicitly states that the food is "great" and "absolutely great," suggesting that Empire Express excels in preparing popular American Chinese dishes that are flavorful and enjoyable. For those who appreciate the familiar and comforting tastes of this style of Chinese cuisine, Empire Express appears to be a top choice in the area.

The value offered at Empire Express is also consistently praised, with one reviewer mentioning "great price." Another customer specifically detailed the affordability of their small daily buffet, noting that a combination of rice or lo mein with one buffet item is currently priced at just $3.50. This exceptional value makes Empire Express an attractive option for those seeking a budget-friendly meal without compromising on taste or satisfaction. The availability of a daily buffet further enhances the appeal, allowing customers to select and enjoy a variety of dishes at a very reasonable cost.

Empire Express offers both takeout and eat-in options to cater to different preferences. The mention of the small daily buffet clearly indicates that they have a dine-in service where customers can select their food from a prepared selection. For those who prefer to enjoy their meals elsewhere, takeout is also readily available. This flexibility allows customers to choose the dining experience that best suits their needs and convenience.

The staff at Empire Express are described as "friendly and helpful," contributing positively to the overall customer experience. Welcoming and accommodating service can significantly enhance a dining visit, and the positive feedback in this regard suggests that patrons can expect to be treated well when interacting with the team at Empire Express.

In terms of the environment, one reviewer provided a candid observation, mentioning that the "broken floor tiles need to be replaced and the lavatory updated." While acknowledging the positive aspects of the food and service, this feedback indicates that there might be some areas of the physical premises that could benefit from renovation or maintenance. However, the reviewer still indicated a high level of satisfaction with the core offerings of the restaurant, suggesting that these aesthetic issues do not significantly detract from the overall positive experience, especially considering the quality and price of the food.

The small daily buffet is a notable feature of Empire Express. Buffets offer the advantage of allowing customers to sample a variety of dishes and choose their preferred items and portion sizes. The incredibly affordable price point of $3.50 for a combination of rice or lo mein and one buffet item makes this an exceptionally attractive option for a quick and satisfying meal. While the specific items offered on the daily buffet are not detailed in the reviews, the very existence of this option at such a low price is a significant draw.

The reviews explicitly mention that Empire Express specializes in "American Chinese food," distinguishing it from restaurants that focus on more "authentic" regional Chinese cuisines. For those who enjoy the familiar flavors and preparations of American Chinese dishes, such as General Tso's chicken, sweet and sour pork, and various stir-fried options, Empire Express is presented as an excellent choice. The reviewer who made this distinction strongly recommends Empire Express over potentially disappointing "authentic" options, highlighting the consistent quality and deliciousness of their Americanized fare.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information provided in the customer reviews, beyond the mention of the very affordable price for the buffet combination. Chinese restaurants often have daily specials, lunch deals, or other promotions. To stay informed about any potential special offers or discounts at Empire Express, local residents are encouraged to contact the restaurant directly via phone or check if they have any online presence, such as a website or social media pages.

In conclusion, Empire Express, located on 9th Street in Brooklyn, NY, is a Chinese Restaurant that stands out for its delicious and well-regarded American Chinese food, offered at excellent prices. The friendly and helpful staff contribute to a positive experience, and the availability of a small daily buffet at a very affordable rate is a significant draw. While one reviewer noted some areas of the physical premises could use updating, the overwhelming sentiment is that Empire Express provides great value and tasty food, making it a highly recommended choice for those in the area seeking satisfying Americanized Chinese cuisine for takeout or a budget-friendly eat-in option.

Great food, great price. Some of the best American Chinese food, not authentic but still delicious. If you are trying to decide between expensive "authentic" Chinese restaurant that will most likely turn out to be meh and this absolutely great Americanized Chinese spot, there's not comparison. Empire Express every time.

Good Chinese food take out or eat in with a small daily buffet where you can select from. The staff is friendly and helpful. Rice or lo mein and one buffet item is currently $3.50. I would give it five stars but the broken floor tiles need to be replaced and the lavatory updated.

I agree with prior posters, if you have a hankering for good, we'll-executed Chinese American food, this is your place. Ordered: pan fried dumplings (a definite cut above most local Chinese takeout, must be either a higher quality wrapper or great execution or both), the winning dish of roast pork with green beans (superb flavoring with tender green beans and perfectly roasted pork - nicely flavored and not overly sweet and cloying sauce), Szechuan chicken (good slicing with tender broccoli and nicely wok fried chicken), pork fried rice (fine). Look, I'm usually one of those people that prefer authentic regional Chinese cuisine and, yes, that was baby corn in the Szechuan chicken, but this was truly excellent. Worth a five star review.

Overall the food is unappetizing because it is drenched in oil and/or sauce Chicken and Bean Curd - barely any chicken, bean curd drenched in soy sauce, thick pool of black sauce at the bottom Hunan Pork - way too oily Twice Cooked Pork - way too oily Also did not like how to-go containers are not labeled as microwave safe
