About Ellie's Chinese

Ellie's Chinese is a Chinese Restaurant located at 1570 2nd Ave in the Upper East Side of New York City. As a neighborhood option for Chinese cuisine, Ellie's Chinese primarily serves customers through takeout and delivery services.

Customer reviews present mixed opinions about Ellie's Chinese. One reviewer, who initially had a positive impression when the restaurant first opened, has noted a decline in quality. Recent experiences include chicken wings that were smaller and of questionable quality compared to previous orders, broccoli in garlic sauce consisting mainly of stems, fried rice described as mostly onions, and greasy egg rolls. This customer also mentioned a lack of hospitality from employees in person and on the phone and feels the current quality does not justify the cost of eating out.

Conversely, another customer has ordered takeout numerous times and reports that the food is consistently hot and ready on time. They find the food to be generally great, acknowledging that it can sometimes be a little oily, which they consider typical for neighborhood Chinese takeout. This reviewer recommends Ellie's Chinese for those seeking a quick bite.

Based on these reviews, Ellie's Chinese offers convenient takeout and delivery services. However, recent feedback indicates potential inconsistencies in food quality and customer service. For placing orders or inquiries, Ellie's Chinese can be contacted at (917) 472-7718 or +1 917-472-7718.

No specific details about the restaurant's environment for dine-in customers or any current promotional offers are available from these reviews. Potential customers may want to consider the recent contrasting experiences when deciding to order from Ellie's Chinese.

This place was great when they first opened. The newness has worn off. Ordered chicken wings last night and they were so different from the last time I ordered them, like half the size and the chicken was suspect. Didn't even finished them. Also, the employees can be a lil more hospitable in person and on the phone. Ordered broccoli in garlic sauce and got broccoli stems. The fried rice is like ordering onions with fried rice. The eggrolls are greasy. These items were so delightful and properly prepared when they first opened. What happened? Not really worth the expense of eating out as of lately. Some specials seem to be of lesser quality.

I’ve ordered takeout from here numerous times. It’s always hot and ready exactly when they say it will. Food is great. I mean, yeah, it can be a little oily at times but what neighborhood Chinese takeout isn’t? Overall definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick bite.

*Excellent* neighborhood Chinese. Clean, flavorful cooking at reasonable prices… Connie, who handles your order is sweet and hard working… Someone flamed them in a review because they dropped off menus once? Give them a break. They are a small, newer storefront on 2nd ave, give them a shot. It’s not easy establishing and sustaining a business in the city these days… looking forward to my next tasty order.

The egg rolls were horrible, hollow inside, not tasty at all. The General Tso chicken was tasty and the ribs were tasty very nice portion.

This place does not deserve lower than a 4 star rating on Google. It is nothing exceptional, just good NYC Chinese food at a reasonable price. Ordered takeout, did not disappoint
