You have to try it. As a somewhat picky person (you can’t eat everyone’s food) this place was fantastic. Extremely reasonably priced and honestly pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. My family of 4 shared 3 small platters and 4 empanadas. We took an entire platter home lol. Food was *CHEFS KISS* The family friendly atmosphere playing great music was wonderful. The employees and ownership are just awesome awesome people and were an absolute pleasure to meet and talk with while we were there. The juices were on point and the TRES LECHES CAKE. Out of this world. Rice and beans all on point. Pollo guisado, pernil & chuleta!!! 👌🏼 no dry meats over here. Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed. Great family. Great establishment. Can’t wait for the next visit. !

I've been to El Gordo several times. It never disappoints! The Shrimp Mofongo on Ash Wednesday was amazing! Such a big portion too. The empanadas are always great as well. It's so nice to see this business thriving in our town.

Looking for super freshly prepared Puerto Rican comfort food? El Gordo Coqui has opened at the New Jersey Shore, located in Bayville New Jersey The owner Antony and his lovey wife prepare some of the best empanadas I’ve had in a long time. They offer a nice selection of different fillings such as Philly Cheesesteak, pepper and onions , beef etc. The owner Antony told me the menu will be expanded in the coming weeks. This restaurant is brand new and I’m excited on what the new menu they will be offering

Food was delicious and their customer service outstanding. If you're in the mood for some great tasting food this is the place.

I've been driving past this place and anticipating there opening since it was announced that it would be coming soon. Finally, it opened and I got a chance to stop in and was not disappointed. This is a Takeout Location but I'm guessing they will grow fast and will evolve quickly. Very Good Food/Great Service/Very Friendly and Very Courteous.
