About Eiko Cafe SLC (江南人家)

Located at 1234 S Redwood Rd in Salt Lake City, Utah, Eiko Cafe SLC, also known as 江南人家 (Jiangnan Renjia), is a Chinese restaurant that prides itself on serving authentic Chinese food. Despite its location in a strip mall, it is considered a "hidden gem" by its patrons, offering a culinary experience that stands apart from typical American Chinese fast food establishments.

A key feature of Eiko Cafe is its commitment to preparing dishes fresh and in the traditional way. Customers have noted that while the preparation might take a little longer, the resulting quality is well worth the wait. This dedication to traditional cooking methods ensures a more authentic and flavorful dining experience.

The restaurant is also praised for its use of high-quality ingredients. Unlike many other Chinese restaurants that might use less desirable cuts of meat, Eiko Cafe reportedly prepares dishes with white meat when specified, indicating a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

The owners are described as wonderful, and the service is consistently highlighted as exceptional, contributing to a welcoming and pleasant dining atmosphere. Furthermore, the portions at Eiko Cafe are noted to be large, often enough for two to three meals for a single person, offering great value.

Hidden gem with Authentic Chinese food! They do take a little longer to get the dishes out but it's well worth it! Every is made fresh the traditional way. This is not Panda Express 🤣 First visit, try the boiled fish with the pickled cabbage!

Don't be fooled by it's location in a strip mall. The food is some of the best original-tasting Chinese food in town. Dishes that are supposed to be prepared with white meat are prepared that way unlike many Chinese restaurants that use the random dark, spongy alternative. The owners are wonderful and the service is exceptional. The portions are large. Enough for 2-3 meals for most people. I'm so glad a friend recommended this place!

Some of the absolute best Chinese food I have ever eaten. The service was fantastic. My portion was huge, tasty, and filling. The price was reasonable. The service was 2nd to none. A perfect dine-in experience all around. I will be coming back here very soon.

This place is a hidden gem! Their General Tso's chicken and fried rice were out of this world, and the lamb soup is like a warm hug on a cold day. The flavors are on point, and the prices are super reasonable for the amount of food you get. Just be prepared to wait a bit, 'cause they were short-staffed when I went. But trust me, the chicken is worth it. I'm still thinking about it! Date of Visit: 11/21/24

we tried Eiko Cafe SLC (1234 S Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City) and were so excited to try authentic Chinese food. they have your typical orange chicken and chow mein available, but we went for the boiled fish filet with pickled cabbage (left) and west lake beef soup (right). the fish dish was spicy, tender, savory and also had a slight numbing effect of the Sichuan peppercorn (yum!). the beef soup was the best thing to have on this snowy and wet day. our waitress introduced herself as Jasmine and was so excited to see us try what her family eats at home. she was very accommodating and so friendly! we will be back tomorrow and hope we can easily decide what things to get next… we want to try the entire menu.
