Welcome to Eddies 2 Go, a Chinese restaurant located at 621 Stoney Creek Ln #9 in Newport News, Virginia. As a Chinese restaurant specializing in takeout, Eddies 2 Go offers a convenient option for locals seeking a variety of Chinese dishes to enjoy at home or on the go. Our focus is on providing a straightforward takeout experience, allowing customers to easily access their favorite Chinese meals.
Based on customer feedback, Eddies 2 Go presents a mixed culinary experience. One reviewer expressed strong positive sentiments, highlighting the freshness of the food and describing it as the nostalgic Chinese food they had been craving. This customer praised the serving sizes for the price and noted that the location and building align with what one might expect from a traditional takeout establishment. They also specifically addressed the egg rolls, suggesting they are a particular style that may not be familiar to everyone.
However, other reviews present a more critical perspective. One customer reported that the fried rice appeared burnt and lacked flavor, while the chicken dumplings were described as bland with an unusual sauce. This reviewer also found the egg roll to be bland. Despite these criticisms, they noted that the General Tso's chicken was good, with a generous amount of quality meat, though they felt it was over-sauced and tasted more like orange chicken due to its sweetness and lack of spice. While this customer did not find anything offensively bad, they expressed reservations about ordering again.
The environment of Eddies 2 Go, as mentioned by a customer, is what you would typically expect from a traditional takeout place. This suggests a functional setting primarily geared towards order pickup rather than an elaborate dine-in ambiance. The focus is likely on efficiency and convenience for customers looking to take their food away.
The primary service offered by Eddies 2 Go is takeout. Customers can place orders by calling (757) 988-8866 or via mobile at +1 757-988-8866. The restaurant's location at 621 Stoney Creek Ln #9 in Newport News is easily accessible for local residents to pick up their orders. While delivery services are not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, it's advisable to inquire directly with the restaurant about their delivery options, if any.
A notable feature, based on customer reviews, is the potential for a specific style of egg roll that may differ from common expectations. While one customer defended this as a particular type, another found it bland. The General Tso's chicken is another dish that received mixed feedback, praised for the quality and quantity of the chicken but criticized for the sauce, which was described as overly sweet and more akin to orange chicken.
The freshness of the food was a significant positive point raised by one reviewer, indicating a commitment to using fresh ingredients. However, the inconsistencies in the flavor and preparation of other dishes, such as the fried rice and dumplings, suggest that the culinary experience may vary.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. For any current specials, discounts, or promotions at Eddies 2 Go, it is recommended to contact the restaurant directly at the provided phone numbers. Customer reviews indicate that while some appreciate the fresh, nostalgic flavors and generous portions, others have found certain dishes, such as the fried rice, dumplings, and egg rolls, to be lacking in flavor or not meeting expectations. The General Tso's chicken received positive feedback for the chicken itself but criticism for the sauce. As a traditional takeout establishment, the environment is functional for order pickup. For those seeking a convenient Chinese takeout option in Newport News, Eddies 2 Go is a local choice, but it's advisable to consider the varied customer experiences when making a decision. Customer Reviews
Believe the hype! I don’t write reviews unless the food quality is actually great. This is the freshest Chinese food I’ve had in this area, it’s exactly the nostalgic kind of Chinese food I’ve been craving and can’t find anywhere else. The serving size was perfect for the price. With the inflation you can’t expect to feed a family of four with $20 so it’s unrealistic for people to ask of that. However if it’s an occasional treat this is perfect! The location is great, and the building is what you’d expect out of a traditional take out place. People are rude with their reviews because they expect something this place isn’t. The egg rolls that everyone loves to complain about in the reviews are actually a very specific type of egg roll that their uncultured behind probably aren’t aware of.
unfortunately most of the negative reviews are valid. fried rice looks burnt but tastes like nothing (no flavor at all, have no idea how that happened), the chicken dumplings were bland, the sauce for them was not like a typical garlic/ginger sauce, i dont really know what it was but i didnt like it. ended up making my own sauce for them. the egg roll was also very bland. the general tsos chicken was good!! they dont skimp on the chicken, its good quality meat, not over-battered, it is over sauced though and the sauce isnt general tsos, it reminds me more of orange chicken. very sweet, no heat to it. nothing was gross or offensive, but i cant imagine us ordering anything from here again.
Small to go spot, not much room for dine in. Love their Philly cheese steak over anyone else in the area.
I ordered chicken egg foo yung, egg had lil to no chicken and the meat was thin in little pieces, taste more egg and onion the chicken, gravy very thin barely any taste. Worst ever again.
Been living here for years and I'm so sad I didn't try this place sooner. Food is fire, and it's quick and fresh, love this place!! Beef Lo Mein was my favorite.
