Welcome to Eddie Cheng, a Chinese restaurant located at 720 W 78th St, Richfield, MN 55423, USA. Based on the recent customer reviews, the perception of Eddie Cheng appears to be somewhat divided, with contrasting experiences regarding food quality and value. One long-term customer, who had ordered from the restaurant over 40 times and returned after a year's absence, reported a significant decline in food quality, rating it as 2 out of 10. They also noted that the food was very salty. Furthermore, this reviewer mentioned that when ordering a meat dish to go, they received a disproportionately small amount of meat compared to the vegetables. During their last visit, they claimed to have observed that the fried rice was stored in a large plastic tub, kept from the morning, and found it to be very bland. This feedback raises serious concerns about the freshness, preparation, and quality of some of Eddie Cheng's dishes.
In contrast, another customer had a much more positive experience, specifically with the Hunan chicken dinner combo. They were impressed by the large amount of food they received for the price of $12 and found the quality to be great. This positive experience led them to consider adding Eddie Cheng to their regular lunch rotation and expressed interest in sampling other menu items. This review suggests that at least some dishes at Eddie Cheng offer good value for money in terms of portion size and quality.
The contrasting reviews highlight a potential inconsistency in the food quality or perhaps a difference in the experience with specific dishes. The negative review points to issues with saltiness, the proportion of meat to vegetables in takeout orders, the freshness and storage of fried rice, and an overall decline in quality over time. The positive review, on the other hand, praises the value and quality of the Hunan chicken dinner combo.
Given this mixed feedback, local users considering Eddie Cheng might want to take these varying experiences into account. The potential for large portions at a reasonable price, as mentioned in the positive review, could be appealing. However, the concerns raised about food quality, saltiness, meat-to-vegetable ratios, and the freshness of ingredients in the negative review are significant factors to consider.
Information regarding the environment of Eddie Cheng is not provided in the reviews. As a local Chinese restaurant, it likely offers standard takeout services and may also have a dine-in area. However, without specific comments on the ambiance or cleanliness of the establishment, it is difficult to describe the dining environment.
Similarly, details about the services offered beyond food preparation and order fulfillment are limited. The positive reviewer mentioned a good experience with a dinner combo, implying efficient service for such orders. However, the negative reviewer's comments about takeout orders having less meat suggest a potential issue with consistency in how takeout orders are prepared. It is not clear from the reviews whether Eddie Cheng offers delivery services or has any unique features that distinguish it from other local Chinese restaurants.
Promotional information is also absent in the provided text. Local restaurants often have specials or discounts to attract customers, but there is no mention of any such offers for Eddie Cheng in these reviews. To inquire about any current promotions or special menu items, it would be necessary to contact the restaurant directly.
In conclusion, Eddie Cheng in Richfield offers a local option for Chinese cuisine with potentially good value in terms of portion size and price for some dishes, as highlighted by the positive review of the Hunan chicken combo. However, there are significant concerns raised by another long-term customer regarding a decline in food quality, excessive saltiness, disproportionate amounts of meat in takeout orders, and questions about the freshness and preparation of the fried rice. Local users considering Eddie Cheng should weigh these contrasting experiences when making their dining decisions. To gain a better understanding of the current environment, full range of services, and any potential promotions, direct contact with Eddie Cheng is recommended.
Eddie Cheng in Richfield presents a somewhat uncertain picture for potential local customers. While one reviewer found excellent value and quality in a specific dish, another long-time patron reported a significant drop in quality and raised concerns about saltiness, ingredient ratios in takeout, and the freshness of the fried rice. This inconsistency suggests that the experience at Eddie Cheng might vary. Local users may want to inquire about specific dishes or preparation methods before ordering, or perhaps consider trying a less common item based on the positive feedback for the Hunan chicken. Further investigation into more recent reviews could also provide a more up-to-date perspective on the restaurant's current standards.
For those in the Richfield area seeking a Chinese restaurant, Eddie Cheng offers a local choice with feedback that ranges from high praise for value and quality to significant concerns about food quality and preparation practices. The stark contrast in recent experiences suggests a potential lack of consistency. Local users might find it prudent to seek more information or perhaps start with a smaller order to assess the current quality before committing to a larger meal. Direct communication with the restaurant could also provide insights into any recent changes or popular dishes that might offer a more reliable experience.

Customer Reviews
I have order this food over now 40 times. Now I am going back after 1 year. And I got to say the quality has dropped tremendously. Can you get Chinese food for the bang for your buck? I would say so. Quality of the food was 2/10. Food is very salty. When you order a meat to go with it you will get less meat and all vegetables. During my last trip I was able to see where the fried rice comes from. A big plastic tub they will keep the rice sitting from the morning. The fried rice is very bland
I ordered the Hunan chicken dinner combo and wow, I got a lot of food for $12. The quality is great, too. I will have to sample some other menu items but this place might enter my regular lunch rotation.
We have ordered for many years. Always plenty of good food. When we order for delivery they will say 45 minutes. We always start looking at about 20 minutes and they show up. Last Monday we ordered and they said 45. After an hour, we called. They said they are short staffed. Finally after an hour and a half, the order arrived Sad thing was that we had already added a 20% tip. That we not deserved. I'm sure that we will give them another chance and see what happens.
Ordered shrimp egg foo young for the first time. It was delicious. My late grandmother made delicious brown gravy. The gravy with this dish was similar to hers. Very impressed.
We ordered wontons with sesame chicken and general tso chicken with white rice and fried rice. It was delivered quickly and very hot! We were very surprised with how delicious everything was! Wontons were perfectly fried with a lot of dipping sauce! The little bit of spice on the general tso chicken was a nice touch. We will definitely be going back soon!
