About Eastern Winds Restaurant

Welcome to Eastern Winds Restaurant, a local establishment situated at 3740 S Washington Blvd in Ogden, Utah. As a distinguished member of the Chinese restaurant category in the Ogden area, Eastern Winds Restaurant aims to provide an authentic culinary journey through the rich traditions of Mandarin and Cantonese cuisine. You can contact them at (801) 627-2739 or via their mobile number +1 801-627-2739 for reservations, takeout orders, or inquiries. Based on the customer reviews, Eastern Winds Restaurant offers both dine-in and takeout services, catering to a wide range of dining preferences within the community.

According to customer feedback, Eastern Winds Restaurant recently underwent a significant renovation, giving the entire store a "facelift" and the outside of the building "a new lick of paint." This suggests that the restaurant has invested in creating a fresh and updated environment for its patrons. One reviewer, who has been visiting sporadically for years, noted this positive change after a temporary closure. This recent refurbishment likely contributes to a more pleasant and inviting dining atmosphere for those choosing to eat at the restaurant. While specific details about the decor are not provided, the fact that a renovation occurred indicates a commitment to maintaining and improving the customer experience.

The services offered at Eastern Winds Restaurant include both dine-in and takeout options. The availability of phone numbers makes it easy for customers to place orders for pickup. One reviewer specifically mentioned enjoying the food for dinner, implying a full evening dining service. Another highlighted the "freaking stellar" lunch specials, indicating that the restaurant offers appealing options during the daytime as well. The fact that the food is described as "made FRESH to order" is a significant service feature, suggesting a commitment to quality and ensuring that customers receive freshly prepared meals. This approach often results in better flavor and texture compared to dishes that have been sitting for extended periods. While delivery service is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, it is worth inquiring directly with the restaurant to confirm if this option is available.

Eastern Winds Restaurant prides itself on offering an "authentic Mandarin & Cantonese experience," setting it apart as a potential gem for those seeking genuine flavors from these distinct regions of Chinese cuisine. One long-time customer has consistently been "blown away" by their offerings over the years, attesting to the quality and authenticity of the food. The "stellar" lunch specials are a notable feature, providing an affordable opportunity to sample their Mandarin and Cantonese dishes. The commitment to preparing food "FRESH to order" is a key feature that emphasizes quality and taste. However, it is important to acknowledge a contrasting review where a customer described their meal as "inedible," specifically mentioning issues with the orange chicken and soup smelling "revolting" and tasting bad, while the fried rice was only "okay." This negative experience, despite the good proportions, led the customer to discard most of their meal. The reviewer did concede that this might have been an isolated incident, given the positive experiences of others.

The stark contrast between the overwhelmingly positive review and the significantly negative one highlights the potential for variability in dining experiences. While one customer considers Eastern Winds an "undiscovered gem" and the best place for authentic Mandarin and Cantonese food they've encountered across hundreds of Chinese restaurants, another had a profoundly negative experience with specific dishes. This discrepancy underscores the importance of considering all available feedback, even when it presents conflicting views. The positive review emphasizes the authenticity and quality, while the negative one raises concerns about food quality on at least one occasion.

Promotional information is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. However, the mention of "stellar lunch specials" can be considered a form of ongoing promotion, attracting customers with potentially lower prices and a curated selection of dishes during lunchtime. The recent renovation could also be seen as an effort to attract new and returning customers with an improved dining environment. To learn about any specific promotions, discounts, or special offers that Eastern Winds Restaurant might currently be running, it is advisable to contact them directly or check if they have an online presence where such information might be posted.

In conclusion, Eastern Winds Restaurant in Ogden, UT, presents itself as a purveyor of authentic Mandarin and Cantonese cuisine, with a long-standing positive reputation among some customers. The recent renovation suggests a commitment to providing an updated and pleasant dining environment. The "stellar lunch specials" and the promise of freshly made-to-order food are notable features. However, a recent negative review highlighting significant issues with the quality of certain dishes indicates that experiences may vary. Potential customers should weigh the enthusiastic endorsements of authenticity and quality against the reported negative experience when making their decision. It might be prudent to try some of the highly recommended dishes, such as those featured in the lunch specials, to form their own opinion.

For local users in Ogden, UT, who are seeking an authentic Mandarin and Cantonese dining experience, Eastern Winds Restaurant offers a compelling option, especially given the positive long-term feedback and the recent renovations. The promise of fresh, made-to-order food and the availability of lunch specials add to its appeal. However, the existence of a very negative recent review serves as a reminder that quality can sometimes be inconsistent. It might be beneficial to inquire about the preparation methods and perhaps stick to dishes that have received positive mentions in reviews, such as those typically offered during lunch specials, to gauge the quality and authenticity for yourself. The restaurant's commitment to freshness and its recent improvements suggest a potential for a positive dining experience.

UNDISCOVERED GEM! This place is by far the best place for an authentic Mandarin & Cantonese experience! I've been coming here sporadically for years and it's blown me away every time. The lunch specials are freaking stellar and if you stop by for dinner you won't be disappointed! They were closed for a little bit but when they reopened the entire store had a facelift and the outside of the building got a new lick of paint. Inexpensive and made FRESH to order!

I've been to hundreds of Chinese food restaurants across the US and I've never had gross Chinese food until now. I paid $13.99 for this meal plus tax and the proportions are good, but that doesn't matter when the food is inedible. The fried rice was only okay which is why they get 2 stars instead of 1, but the orange chicken and soup smelled revolting and the taste was bad enough that I could only eat a few pieces. I ended up throwing away 99% of the meal. I then went to a place I knew had decent food. I paid 7.75 plus tax for the other meal. I'm not sure if it was just this one time considering other reviews are good, but it's not something I want to risk wasting money on again.

Wow! I have ordered delivery several times from here and wanted to try it in person. I love this place! The food was so fresh and hot 🔥. Big portions too! A D24 combo dinner of happy family, fried rice, egg roll, fried shrimp, and egg drop soup was less than $15 for one person. Also ordered steamed dumplings and the server was nice enough to get us an assortment of sauces from mild to spicy hot hot!
