About Eastern Pearl

Eastern Pearl is a Chinese Restaurant located at 2275 Boston Providence Hwy in Walpole, MA. As a Chinese Restaurant, it offers a dining experience with a nostalgic ambiance, featuring older furniture and decor that some customers find reminiscent of the past. You can contact them at (508) 850-9988 or +1 508-850-9988 for inquiries.

According to one recent review, the restaurant has a clean environment. The reviewer who sat on the lounge side noted that the bartender, Ming, efficiently managed orders from the bar area, which had an older and friendly crowd. The seating was described as comfortable, despite its age.

This customer highly recommended several of the dishes. The Hot and Sour Soup was described as old school with a flavorful kick. The Egg Rolls were praised as some of the best, with a traditional New England/Polynesian recipe rich in celery and pork and a crispy exterior. The Spareribs on the bone were noted for being meaty, tender with a crisp outside, and full of flavor. The Beef Teriyaki was found to be moist, well-marinated, and very tasty. Finally, the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was a darker version of what the reviewer was used to but had a nice flavor, with the shrimp being slightly overcooked but still delicious.

The reviewer's only complaints were the absence of hot tea and not receiving a fortune cookie. Overall, they described it as a nice experience, offering good old school Chinese food in a happy atmosphere and expressed interest in trying other dishes.

However, another recent review presented a very negative experience, citing being charged almost $40 for two lunch specials, receiving chicken instead of beef in a beef broccoli dish that was mostly vegetables with little meat, an unacceptable portion of rice, and low mein that unexpectedly came with rice. This customer also mentioned a previous negative experience involving a language barrier when calling and then being spoken to in English in person, stating they would not return.

Considering these contrasting reviews, Eastern Pearl offers a potentially nostalgic atmosphere and some highly praised classic dishes. However, there have also been significant negative experiences reported regarding order accuracy, portion sizes, pricing, and customer service. Local users may want to take these varied experiences into account when deciding to dine at or order from Eastern Pearl.

This review is based on my initial visit. Restaurant was clean, older furniture and decor that gave you a nostalgic feeling. I sat on the lounge side. The bartender Ming was a one man show. He did a good job managing all the orders from that side. Older crowd at the bar. Everyone appeared friendly. My chair was probably as old as I am. It was also very comfortable and relaxing. The one thing that really matters is the food! When try out new to me places, there are some staples that I get. Hot and Sour Soup was old school, had a very nice flavor with a kick to make your eyes water. Highly recommend! Egg Rolls are some of the best of the best. Traditional New England/Polynesian recipe that is heavy on celery and pork with a crispy outer layer. These are a must! Spareribs on the bone were meaty, tender while having a crisp on the outside, and full of flavor. Absolutely delicious!! Beef Teriyaki was moist, marinated throughout and very tasty. Very much recommend! Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was some of the darkest that I have had. The sauce was very much like the Lobster Sauce we grew up on. Had a very nice flavor to it. The Shrimp were only about 30 seconds overcooked but were still delicious. Also very much recommend this dish! For an old school place my only complaint was they didn't have hot tea. I don't think I got a Fortune cookie either. Overall it was a nice experience. Not a fancy night out, but good old school Chinese food in a happy atmosphere. Excited to try some of their other dishes.

Was our go to place for Chinese in Walpole. However last nights dinner was the worst. Food label on pepper, and we ordered chicken pad Thai but received something different. Yellowish chicken, bean sprouts and noodles. It certainly didn’t even come close to tasting like a pad Thai.

Great place , a hole in wall, but more. Sit down and bar. I like the setting and the food is good quality . Being a vegetarian fried rice and hot and sour soup is good. The service is friendly and drinks are good and not your avg pour .

Friendly people but the food was bland, the chicken chow mein had no flavor and the fried rice was also very underwhelming. The crab rangoons and the spare ribs weren’t bad, but nothing special. Unfortunately I can’t recommend this place for Chinese takeout
