About Eastern Dragon

Welcome to Eastern Dragon, a Chinese restaurant situated at 16 S Main St, St Albans City, VT 05478, USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the St. Albans City community, Eastern Dragon has a history within the local dining scene, as indicated by long-term patronage mentioned in customer reviews. They offer a menu that includes both traditional Chinese dishes and a selection of sushi. You can contact them to place orders or inquire about their services at (802) 527-9800 or their mobile number +1 802-527-9800.

Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at Eastern Dragon appears to be somewhat mixed, with contrasting opinions on the quality of their offerings. One long-time customer, who had been a patron for many years and considered it their "go-to spot for sushi," expressed significant disappointment with their recent visit after having moved out of state. This reviewer noted a decline in the quality of several key dishes, including the pork fried rice (described as flavorless and different from before), the chicken lo mein (with tough and unpleasant meat), and the sushi (which reportedly did not taste right and had an unpleasantly soft texture). This feedback raises concerns about potential changes in the restaurant's cooking or management that have negatively impacted the consistency and quality of their food.

In contrast, another customer who ordered takeout over a weekend provided a more nuanced review, highlighting both positive and negative aspects of their meal. They found the price to be "quite good," suggesting that Eastern Dragon offers value in terms of pricing. Among the dishes they tried, the cheese rangoons, spring roll (described as expected), dumplings, tempura cheesecake, tempura vegetables, sweet potato sushi, and vegetarian California roll sushi were all rated as good. The seaweed salad also received positive feedback. However, they found the mu shu vegetables and the vegetable rice to be "surprisingly bland." This indicates that while some items on their menu are well-received, others may lack flavor.

The reviews do not provide specific details about the restaurant's environment or ambiance. Therefore, information regarding the decor, seating arrangements, or overall atmosphere of Eastern Dragon is not available based on the provided customer feedback. Similarly, there is no mention of specific services such as dine-in availability, takeout procedures beyond phone ordering, or delivery options.

In terms of features, the fact that Eastern Dragon offers both Chinese cuisine and sushi is a notable aspect of their menu. This dual offering can appeal to a wider range of customers with different preferences. The mention of "good" items like the cheese rangoons, dumplings, and various sushi rolls suggests that they have strengths in certain areas of their menu. The "quite good" pricing mentioned by one reviewer could also be considered a feature, indicating affordability.

However, the inconsistency in food quality, as highlighted by the starkly different experiences of the two reviewers, is a significant point to consider. The negative feedback from a long-term customer, particularly regarding their previously favored sushi, raises concerns about the reliability of their quality standards. The blandness reported in some of the vegetable dishes also suggests potential weaknesses in certain parts of their menu.

Currently, there is no promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. To learn about any specials, discounts, or new menu items that Eastern Dragon might be offering, it would be best to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers. You can also inquire about their full menu, including their current selection of Chinese dishes and sushi. Additionally, it would be helpful to ask about their operating hours and whether they offer dine-in and/or takeout services.

For local users in St. Albans City looking for a Chinese restaurant that also offers sushi, Eastern Dragon presents itself as an option with a history in the community. However, recent customer reviews indicate a potential decline in the consistency and quality of some of their dishes, particularly those that were once highly regarded. While some items, such as the cheese rangoons, dumplings, and certain sushi rolls, have received positive feedback, others have been described as bland or poorly prepared. Given the mixed reviews, it might be prudent to inquire about the freshness and preparation methods of specific dishes when placing an order. The "quite good" pricing might be an attractive factor for some, but it's essential to balance cost with the desired quality.

In conclusion, Eastern Dragon in St. Albans City, VT, is a Chinese restaurant with a history of serving the local community and offering a menu that includes both Chinese cuisine and sushi. While some customers have found certain dishes to be good and the prices reasonable, recent feedback also indicates concerns about a decline in food quality and consistency, particularly in previously favored items like sushi and classic Chinese dishes. For the most current information on their menu, services, and any potential promotions, please contact Eastern Dragon directly at (802) 527-9800 or +1 802-527-9800. Local residents may want to consider the recent feedback when deciding whether to dine at or order from Eastern Dragon.

I have ate here since I was 17. It was my go-to spot for sushi. I moved out of state 8 years ago and always made it a goal to get sushi here when I got home and chicken lo mein. This is the first time I can truly say this place is awful now and super disappointing. The pork fried rice is not the same and flavorless, the chicken lo mein meat is tough and gross and the sushi did not taste right and was incredibly soft. I don't know what y'all are doing- but you are going to lose long-term customers and new ones if you stick with this new cook/management. Not good at all. 😞

We got takeout here over the weekend. The price was quite good. The mu shu vegetables and the vegetable rice were surprisingly bland. The cheese raggoons were good. The spring roll was as to be expected. The dumplings were really quite good. The tempura cheesecake was good but heavy as I would expect. The tempura vegetables were good as were the sweet potato and vegetarian California roll sushi that we got. The seaweed salad was also quite good.

Have eaten at Eastern Dragon MANY times over the past 16 years. Used to be our go to place...not so much as of lately. Food quality seems to have gone way down. Even their basic pork fried rice is not the same. I loved their chicken dishes because it looked & tasted like good white meat (not mystery meat)...not anymore. New cook or management??

We ordered 2 combination dinners and there was so much food we had 2 meals out of it instead of one! It was great food and fresh seafood. Absolutely love this place! Highly recommend

Fresh delicious Chinese food made to order. (They serve Japanese food too) We ate at the restaurant.... just a few tables & booths available, nothing special about the ambiance but the staff is very attentive and friendly! Staff provided a personal space heater to help keep us warm because every time the door opens cold wintery air rushes in.
