About Eastern Chinese /Roseboro
Eastern Chinese, also known as Eastern Chinese /Roseboro and located at 306 N East St, Roseboro, NC 28382, operates within the Chinese Restaurant category, presumably offering dine-in and/or takeout services to the local community. They can be contacted at (910) 525-0118 or +1 910-525-0118 for inquiries. Recent customer feedback available online raises significant concerns regarding the restaurant's condition and food quality.
One review paints a stark picture of the establishment, stating that "The run down looks of this restaurant hold true with their food as well." This suggests that the physical appearance of the restaurant might be indicative of other issues within. More alarmingly, the reviewer reported discovering a bug in their food and included timestamps to confirm the order was placed on the same day the picture of the contaminated food was taken. It is important to note that the customer clarified they had ordered white rice, not fried rice, for all their meals, directly refuting any potential misunderstanding about the dish.
Following this incident, the reviewer mentioned that the owner did reach out and offer a refund, which they declined. The customer explicitly stated their motivation was "Not out to look for money, just for restaurants to hold higher standards for health and sanitation!" This highlights a serious concern regarding food safety practices at Eastern Chinese, as perceived by at least one recent patron.
Adding to these concerns, another review noted a significant change in the restaurant, stating, "The entire staff of this location changed and the quality of food did as well." This implies a potential correlation between a change in personnel and a decline in the standards of the food being served. While this review does not provide specific details about the diminished food quality, it corroborates the sentiment that the restaurant's standards may have fallen.
Based on the limited but impactful recent feedback, the environment of Eastern Chinese is described as "run down," which may deter some potential customers. The services offered are not explicitly detailed, but as a Chinese restaurant, it likely provides standard dine-in and/or takeout options. However, the reported discovery of a bug in the food raises serious questions about the hygiene and sanitation practices within the establishment, which would undoubtedly impact the perceived quality of service and the overall dining experience.
Features that might have previously been positive aspects of Eastern Chinese are not mentioned in the recent negative reviews. The change in staff and the subsequent decline in food quality suggest that any former distinguishing features might no longer be present or have been negatively affected. There is no information provided about any unique aspects of their menu, cooking styles, or any specific dishes that were once popular.
Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional information, such as special offers, discounts, or loyalty programs, in the available reviews. Given the serious concerns raised about food safety and the decline in quality, it is unlikely that the restaurant is actively promoting itself without addressing these fundamental issues first.
For local users in Roseboro and the surrounding area considering Eastern Chinese, it is crucial to be aware of the significant negative feedback regarding the restaurant's condition and food safety. The report of a bug found in the food is a serious issue that potential customers should consider carefully. The indication of a decline in food quality following a staff change further suggests that the current standards might not meet expectations.
While the owner's offer of a refund to the customer who found the bug could be seen as a gesture of goodwill, the customer's primary concern was about upholding higher standards for health and sanitation, which points to a more systemic issue. The lack of positive recent feedback and the specific negative experiences shared should give potential diners pause.
In conclusion, the recent online reviews for Eastern Chinese in Roseboro paint a concerning picture. The reported "run down looks," the discovery of a bug in the food, and the perceived decline in food quality after a staff change are serious red flags. Local users might want to exercise extreme caution and consider alternative dining options until there is evidence of significant improvements in the restaurant's standards of hygiene and food preparation.

The run down looks of this restaurant hold true with their food as well. Discovered a bug in our food. Included the time stamps to show that we ordered this the same day as the picture was taken. It's not fried rice, we ordered white rice for all of our meals. The owner did reach out, and offered a refund but we declined his offer. Not out to look for money, just for restaurants to hold higher standards for health and sanitation! :)
The entire staff of this location changed and the quality of food did as well.
Great service. Horrible food. Wouldn’t recommend
Consistency is the key to being exceptional at anything…and these folks understood the assignment🫶🏼 Been coming back for seconds and thirds… for 25 years and counting. No matter what side of the highway they set up shop I will keep coming back at every chance possible 🥰 They have amazing food and such a huge selection you will definitely find something for everyone. I have been happily working my way around the entire menu, never eating the same thing twice. I can only make it there once a week, every time I go I eat it for 3 days straight and it never gets boring 🥡🥢🍤🥟🫔🍱🥟🍤🥤🥤☕️🥡🥢
