About East Chinatown Restaurant
East Chinatown Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant located at 415 Hancock St, Quincy, MA 02171, USA. They can be contacted at (617) 472-9928 or +1 617-472-9928.
As a Chinese restaurant, East Chinatown Restaurant offers what some describe as authentic dishes with a nostalgic, old-school flavor. One reviewer with childhood memories of similar cuisine found the food to be exactly as requested and very reasonably priced for the generous serving size. They also noted the waiter was efficient and helpful, even understanding a specific dialect.
The restaurant itself is small and tends to be packed during busy times. However, visiting during slower periods, such as mid-afternoon on a weekday, may result in immediate seating and ordering.
In contrast, another customer who visited closer to closing time found many of the Chinese BBQ options were sold out. They also experienced minimal service as the staff appeared to be winding down, and they felt the affordable food lacked flavor and presentation. On a positive note, this reviewer mentioned the convenience of a small parking lot behind the restaurant, in addition to street parking.
Overall, East Chinatown Restaurant seems to offer affordable, authentic Chinese cuisine with generous portions, particularly appealing to those seeking nostalgic flavors. However, service and menu availability might be affected by the time of visit, especially closer to closing. The small size of the restaurant suggests it can get crowded during peak hours. The presence of a parking lot is a notable convenience for drivers.

Small place that cooks authentic dishes from my childhood restaurant memories. We went at a slow time - 2p on a Monday - and were the only ones eating. The waiter was efficient and helpful and understood my Americanized Toisanese. We got everything exactly the way I asked for them to be cooked. Food is old school nostalgic and very reasonably priced for the generous serving size. It’s a small space so it is usually packed when we walk by but we went in today because it was post mid day lunchtime so we sat and ordered right away. Would definitely return to try more menu items. It’s a large menu.
This was our first visit to East Chinatown Restaurant, based on a Google Maps search. It seems we arrived close to closing time (within 2 hours), as many of the tempting Chinese BBQ options were already sold out or past their prime. Additionally, the staff appeared to be winding down for the day, resulting in minimal service and a wait for our food to be cooked. While the food was affordable, it lacked flavor and presentation. On the bright side, there's a small parking lot behind the restaurant (in addition to street parking), which is helpful to know. We plan to return at an earlier time to experience the full menu and hopefully, enjoy a more attentive service and tastier dishes.
Large portions at good prices. The food is really tasty. Best to eat family style and share everything. We ordered fried tofu, salt and pepper squid, salt and pepper pork chops, clams in black bean sauce and watercress with garlic and it was more than enough food for 5 of us.
Authentic Chinese food. If you are on the hunt for delicious Cantonese dishes, this is the place to go. Fast service, fresh, perfectly seasoned dishes. Will definitely come back again and again.
There is on-street parking as well as a small lot beside the entrance of the restaurant. Went in as a party of 3 around 8pm on a Wednesday and were sat immediately despite the din of many full tables of families with 6 or more people. It was very noisy, but that means people are having a good time so that was no trouble :) We were given tea while we looked at the menu and were given a good amount of time to look. We ordered many plates to share, which included 2 soups (seafood and wonton), a veggie plate, a flat noodle dish, 2 fried dishes (calamari and tofu), stir fried lobster, and walnut shrimp. I recommend sharing everything because the portions are large and meant to be shared. The food was delicious and arrived on beautiful plates. Definitely will be coming back!
