As a Chinese restaurant located in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego, Dumplings N More specializes in a variety of dumplings and other Chinese dishes, aiming to provide a diverse culinary experience for local residents and visitors. Located on Fifth Avenue, it offers a convenient dining option in a vibrant part of the city. For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact them by phone at (619) 738-8539 or via mobile at +1 619-738-8539.

Based on customer reviews, the environment at Dumplings N More is described as "nondescript" in terms of entrance and interior. However, the restaurant appears to be a popular spot, as one reviewer noted it was "fairly busy" even during an off-peak lunch hour on a Sunday. The seating includes booths, providing a comfortable space for diners. A notable feature of the dining experience is the use of QR codes on the tables, which customers can scan to access the menu and place their orders. This modern approach to ordering suggests an efficient and potentially contactless service model. While one reviewer mentioned the difficulty and cost of parking in the Hillcrest area, this is more a reflection of the neighborhood than the restaurant itself.

Dumplings N More offers both dine-in and takeout services, with one customer specifically praising the ease of online ordering, indicating that this is a convenient option for those preferring to enjoy their food off-site. The service at the restaurant has been described as "super friendly and attentive" by one reviewer, suggesting a positive interaction with the staff. Another reviewer found the service to be "cordial and professional," although their interaction with the staff was minimal, possibly due to the QR code ordering system. This suggests that while the staff is pleasant and efficient, the level of direct interaction might be less than in traditional full-service restaurants.

The primary feature of Dumplings N More is its focus on dumplings, with one reviewer mentioning ordering two sets of nine dumplings with different fillings, including shrimp, beef, and lamb. These dumplings were described as "tasty," indicating a positive reception of their signature item. However, another reviewer found the "shrimp and pork dumplings" to be just "alright," suggesting that the quality might vary across different types of dumplings. Beyond dumplings, the menu includes other items such as noodles and bao buns. One reviewer found the noodles to be "a little bland," indicating a potential area for improvement. In contrast, the "Kung Pao Bao Bun" was highlighted as "pretty tasty," with a "nice balance of flavors," suggesting that some of the non-dumpling offerings are also well-received.

Other menu items mentioned in the reviews include a "seaweed salad," which was described as "not bad," indicating a satisfactory side dish option. The variety of dumpling fillings (shrimp, beef, lamb mentioned) suggests that Dumplings N More offers a range of choices to cater to different preferences. The fact that the restaurant was busy during a Sunday lunch hour implies a local popularity and a potentially consistent flow of customers, drawn by their specialty in dumplings and other Chinese cuisine.

Potential customers should be aware of the parking situation in Hillcrest, which can be challenging and costly.

As a Chinese restaurant specializing in dumplings, Dumplings N More fills a specific niche in the San Diego culinary scene. The positive reviews regarding service and the popularity of the restaurant suggest a generally satisfying experience for many customers. The mixed feedback on the food indicates that while some dishes are hits (tasty dumplings, flavorful bao buns), others might be less impressive (bland noodles, just "alright" dumplings). This suggests that customers might have a better experience focusing on the restaurant's specialties. The efficient ordering system via QR codes is a modern touch that caters to convenience.

New customers might want to try a variety of the dumplings to find their favorites and consider the bao buns as a noteworthy alternative.

Giving Dumplings N More a solid 4/5 stars! The service was super friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated, and the online ordering made everything super easy. The food was good, but a little hit-or-miss—the noodles were a little bland, and the shrimp and pork dumplings were alright. That said, the Kung Pao Bao Bun was pretty tasty, with a nice balance of flavors. Overall, it’s a good spot, but the food could use a little more punch to really stand out.

I'm from San Diego but now live in Idaho. I was in town visiting with my son and he wanted to come here for lunch. It was a Sunday. Parking in Hillcrest is at a premium, and I had to park in the Rite Aid lot at $6 an hour, a rip off. The entrance and interior is nondescript. We grabbed a booth. On the tables are QR codes to scan and look at the menu, as well as order. My son ordered for us, two orders of 9 dumplings of different proteins, including shrimp, beef, and lamb. We also had a seaweed salad, which wasn't bad. I'm not a dumpling guy, but they were tasty. The people were cordial and professional, but we really didn't interact with them much. Because I'm not into this kind of food, I wouldn't come back, except if my son wanted to return the next time I'm in town. But it seemed very popular and was fairly busy, even though it was 1:30 pm by the time we arrived.

With a name of dumplings n more I expected mainly dumplings, but this place has a lot of cooked dishes and even some dim sum staples. Let’s start with the dumplings. The lamb dumplings were the best of the three tried (the other was pork, shrimp and chives and soup dumplings). The soup dumplings had minimal soup, but with a dunk in a soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil they tasted fine. Other dishes ordered were the smashed cucumbers which had too much garlic for my taste and not enough vinegar nor spiciness. As for the har gow, the wrapper was a tad too thick. The sui mi on the other hand is wrapped like a won ton and does not taste like your average sui mi. It’s not a bad taste…just different. Didn’t get a chance to try any of the wok dishes being full from all the dumplings. Portions sizes can be chosen and are different depending on whether the dumplings are boiled, steamed or pan fried. This is a good thing if you come alone cause you can order different types of dumplings to try.

Wide array of options, lovely service, easy access. Milk tea is mild, great size and not overly sweet. Boba quite firm if that’s your preference. Dumplings are stuff with a generous amount of meat. Great for a spot to stop with friends or a larger group.

Very impressed by this place! Super friendly staff. My server was from Taiwan where I studied and she recommended the lamb dumplings. It was incredible! Tasted really good, came out promptly. We also ordered crushed cucumber salad which was very tasty, the dim sum combination, it was tasty as well. Got honey walnut shrimp which was amazing and a bunch other stuff. But I can’t recommend this place enough. Everyone should go try their amazing dumplings!
