Welcome to Dumpling House (Walnut St), a Chinese restaurant located at 870 Walnut St, Newton, MA 02459, USA. As a local establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, Dumpling House offers a range of dishes, with some customers highlighting specific items.

One customer shared a positive experience regarding a specific craving for bitter melon, a dish they enjoyed as a stir-fry with protein at Dumpling House. They noted that while it differed slightly from their childhood preparation (which included black bean sauce), the version at Dumpling House was delicious, less bitter, slightly sweet, and not garlicky, effectively satisfying their craving. They also mentioned efficient, friendly, and timely service, indicating their intention to return. A minor point was that rice is not included with this particular dish and must be ordered separately.

In contrast, another customer reported a negative experience, describing the food quality as "the lowest of low quality." They specifically criticized the General Gau chicken sauce, comparing its texture to glue, and found the dish overpriced for the perceived quality. This customer also mentioned "fake chicken," the sauce's consistency, and described the crab rangoons as part of their unsatisfactory $50 order.

Once in a while I have a craving from my childhood and thats' bitter melon and because no one else in my family will eat this, I go to Dumpling House. I have it as a stir fried dish with a protein. It is delicious, slightly different to how I had it growing up (we had it with black bean sauce). But this is just as delicious, not as bitter (slightly sweet) and not garlicky at all. It certainly satisfies my craving. Only negative is that it doesn't come with rice and one has to order that separately. Service is efficient, friendly and timely. I'll continue to come back again!

The lowest of low quality food. I want to see an ingredient list of what they use for the general gaps chicken sauce. It looks like they use glue. I’ve never had sauce that was so goopy and stuck together like this does. Over priced for the quality you get. 50$ got me fake chicken with glue sauce, white rice and crab rangoons

Dumpling House is a great hidden gem in a little strip mall on Walnut street in Newton. There was plenty of parking. Restaurant appeared very clean. Staff was friendly. The menu is huge. Mostly authentic Chinese dishes. Not your typical American style Chinese food. The food tasted extremely fresh and full of flavor. I started with a small hot and sour soup with shredded pork. It was large enough for two people. Very traditionally prepared with wood ear mushrooms, golden needles, tofu, pork, scallions. It had a very nice complex flavor with a big kick that would clear out anyone's sinuses. Soup was delicious! My first appetizer was the jellyfish with garlic. This was like a salad with the jellyfish cut in thin strips with a solid but not chewy texture. The dish also had cucumbers, carrots, sesame seeds and plenty of garlic. Delicious! Next I had one of my favorites appetizers. Crispy fried pig intestines! If you have never had this, step outside your box. The outside is crispy with a texture like bacon and the inside is a soft moist delicious pork flavor. This dish is amazing! For my entrée I had to go with the pork and crab soup dumplings. These were full of soup, flavor and makes the whole trip worth it! Soooo good! If you are looking for quality food that's different from the American PuPu platter, check this place out. I can't wait to go back!

This place is my family's go too. We usually settle for the same menu always. But what an amazing menu. We usually go for the General Gao(amazing), Dumpling soup (my kid loves), Beef friend rice(plenty of greens and flavor)...and the list keeps on going with amazing options and flavor. We love our usual server Ken, he is ALWAYS attentive and hands out little cocktail umbrellas for my kid(this has created a great connection with us).

Food is average. Dishes we had didn't really stand out and not something we would crave for. Food came out quickly, servers are always quick and rushing around because they're busy with dining service and also take out. But they are always around so easy to grab them if you need something.
