About Drunken Kitchen

Drunken Kitchen is a restaurant located at 333 W 2100 S Expy, South Salt Lake, UT 84115, USA. They can be contacted at (385) 548-3020 or +1 385-548-3020.

While categorized as a Chinese restaurant, Drunken Kitchen features at least one dish that is specifically recognized as USese, the Dan Dan Noodles. One customer, who had lived in US for 15 years, expressed immense satisfaction with this dish, describing it as "absolutely amazing" with "authentic flavors" that evoked nostalgic memories. This positive experience extended to the atmosphere and hospitality, which were described as "top-notch." The owner also made a kind gesture of greeting the customer after learning of their connection to US.

However, another customer had a significantly different experience with other menu items. They ordered ribs and stir-fried vegetables, which they received in an unexpected "weird soup form." The vegetables were described as mushy and sitting in a "sugar soup mix," while the ribs were tough, overcooked, and also in a "sticky sugar puddle." This reviewer felt that the excessive use of "sweet sauce" did not compensate for the poor preparation of the food, which they considered "underseasoned garbage" despite the high prices and a "frustrating ordering process." They did, however, acknowledge that the service and staff were helpful.

Based on these contrasting reviews, Drunken Kitchen appears to offer some dishes that are highly praised for their authenticity and flavor, particularly the Dan Dan Noodles, along with commendable service and a welcoming atmosphere. However, the preparation and quality of other dishes, such as the ribs and stir-fried vegetables, have been criticized. Potential customers may want to consider these varying experiences when choosing to dine at Drunken Kitchen.

I was so excited to try Drunken Kitchen when I saw they had Dan Dan Noodles on the menu—something I hadn’t had since living in Taiwan 15 years ago. Let me just say, they did not disappoint! The noodles were absolutely amazing, with authentic flavors that took me right back. When I mentioned to the waitress that I had lived in Taiwan and loved these noodles, the owner even came out to say hello, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. The food, the atmosphere, and the hospitality were all top-notch. Highly recommend this place—I’ll definitely be back!

While the service and staff were helpful, the ordering options and food were aweful. I ordered ribs and stir fried veggies.... somehow I got both of those in a weird soup form. The veggies were not just soft, they were literally mush in a sugar soup mix. The ribs were somehow tough and overcooked, while still sitting in a sticky sugar puddle. This place seems to think that "sweet sauce" somehow covers overcooked, sugar covered, underseasoned garbage, warrants high prices and a frustrating ordering process.

Absolutely loved the service! It’s also kind of fun that the restaurant shares a space with other places, feels almost like a food court in the best way. Our group ordered the pork buns, dumplings, pork belly rice, dandan noodles, and mango sticky rice. My absolute favorite was the dumplings and pork belly rice. The dumpling wrappers are house made and very chewy and delicious. The dumplings were juicy and so flavorful, 5/5. I also loved the pork belly rice, I just wish the tea egg had a little more of a jammy consistency instead of a true hard boiled. But it was still amazing! The rest of my group actually preferred the dandan noodles. The noodles are definitely house made and very chewy and delicious! I just don’t love the numbing spice in their sauce. The pork buns also had the numbing spice, but otherwise they were perfectly juicy and chewy. The mango rice unfortunately needed more sauce, and wasn’t very sweet. All in all I would definitely come back!

A little over a week ago, as I was scrolling through my social media feeds, an intriguing advertisement caught my attention. Without hesitation, I clicked on it, eager to learn more. The ad introduced Drunken Kitchen, a newly opened Asian restaurant in Salt Lake City, founded by two brothers from Taiwan and China. The promise of authentic, traditional dishes paired with their engaging and visually captivating social media presence made it impossible to resist. Within moments, I was texting a group of friends to set a date for what I knew would be a culinary adventure. The day finally arrived. One by one, we pulled into the parking lot, bundled up against the chilly weather as we made our way to the restaurant’s entrance. The moment we opened the door, an intoxicating aroma greeted us—familiar and deeply nostalgic. It awakened memories of my childhood and made our already growing appetites even stronger. Having obsessively revisited the ad over the past week, I knew exactly what I was going to order. The interior of Drunken Kitchen is spacious and neatly arranged. While the decor leaned more toward a casual, cafeteria-style vibe than a formal sit-down restaurant, it had a warm, inviting energy that felt comforting. I appreciate fancy dining establishments, but there’s something incredibly satisfying about a cozy, family-style place that serves food made with love. Between the three of us, we ordered a variety of dishes. Two of us chose noodle-based options, including my pick—the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup—while our third companion opted for the Three-Cup Chicken served with rice. Before our mains arrived, we started with appetizers. The fried frog legs were a delightful surprise, completely transforming my childhood memory of how frog legs should taste. The pork pot stickers, on the other hand, were massive—reminiscent of the generous portions you’d find in Asia. As we chatted and laughed, the food became the star of the show. I couldn’t stop marveling at my bowl of beef noodle soup. The beef was exquisitely tender and bursting with flavor, while the daily handmade noodles were perfectly al dente—just like the ones I grew up eating in Hong Kong. Every element of the dish was thoughtfully crafted and cooked to perfection, exuding the warmth and care of a mom-and-pop kitchen. While the food was undeniably the highlight, Drunken Kitchen offers more than just exceptional dishes. Their full beer bar adds a fun and lively touch to the dining experience, making it a perfect spot for catching up with friends or enjoying a laid-back evening. Just a quick tip: they do check IDs before seating patrons, so ensure everyone in your group is of legal age. I’m thrilled to have discovered this gem of a restaurant. Drunken Kitchen has quickly become a favorite, serving up a taste of Asia with authenticity and heart. Salt Lake City just got a little more delicious.

Drunken kitchen is an amazing authentic Asian restaurant. We tried several of the items and we were completely satisfied with everything we got. The homemade sauce for the pot stickers was the best sauce we have ever had!!! The Dan Dan bowl was also amazing. The one item that surprised me the most was the mango dessert.. this is a must try imo!!!
