About Dragon Palace Chinese Bistro

Dragon Palace Chinese Bistro, located at 162 Seven Farms Drive on Daniel Island in South Carolina, offers a welcome alternative to the typical Chinese takeout establishments in the Charleston area. Situated in an unassuming mall, this Chinese restaurant provides a sit-down dining experience in a setting described by one reviewer as "beautifully decorated and upkept," suggesting a pleasant and clean environment for enjoying a meal. You can contact Dragon Palace at (843) 388-8823 or their mobile number +1 843-388-8823 for reservations or inquiries.

Based on local customer reviews, Dragon Palace Chinese Bistro presents a mixed but overall positive impression. One reviewer, who visited for lunch based on a friend's recommendation after early voting on Daniel Island, found the experience to be "good but nothing to knock your socks off," indicating a solid but perhaps not exceptional dining experience. They also noted that they wouldn't travel a significant distance specifically to eat there, suggesting it's a worthwhile option for those in the Daniel Island vicinity.

The menu at Dragon Palace appears to offer a range of familiar and potentially more unique Chinese dishes. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was highlighted as being good, with "nice larger pieces of Chicken" and a "crunchy light and fluffy" batter. This indicates a well-prepared version of a popular American-Chinese dish.

Another dish that received positive feedback was the Eye Kew (likely a variation or misspelling of a beef rib dish). The reviewer noted its "good flavor" with the standout being the "Beef" which was described as "so tender." This suggests a focus on the quality and preparation of their meat dishes.

A significant highlight for Dragon Palace seems to be their Dim Sum platter. One reviewer described it as "great" and noted that the pieces appeared to be "hand made," implying a level of care and authenticity in their preparation. The platter included five different pieces, with the Shu Mai and the Pork being singled out as the best. The accompanying "flavorful Dumpling Sauce" was also praised. Another reviewer enthusiastically recommended their Saturday dim sum brunch, stating that "it absolutely rules." They enjoyed a mix of dumplings, rolls, and steamed dishes, all of which were described as "excellent." The host even provided helpful recommendations, which were well-received. This strong positive feedback suggests that the dim sum offerings are a particular strength of Dragon Palace.

However, not all dishes received the same level of praise. The Fried Rice was described as "lacking," consisting simply of "Rice and Soy Sauce" without any vegetables or additional seasoning to provide flavor. Similarly, the Egg Roll was found to be underwhelming, characterized as "essentially a Fried Cabbage Roll" with only a "tiny amount of pork" that required a thorough search after each bite. Despite this, the Duck Sauce served with the egg roll was noted as being "great."

The reviewer who tried the lunch specials mentioned that the portions were "solid for the price of $12.99 per special," with the Dim Sum platter priced at $8.99 and the Egg Roll at $2.75. This provides some insight into the pricing and value offered during lunchtime.

A notable feature of Dragon Palace, as mentioned by one reviewer, is that it is a "sit down Chinese Restaurant rather than the typical Take Out Style places," which is appreciated, especially given the closure of some other original establishments in the area. This suggests a more traditional dining atmosphere where customers can enjoy their meals on-site.

Another reviewer, who comes from an area with more Asian dining options, noted that Dragon Palace is "probably the only legit Chinese anywhere near Charleston!" They also described the restaurant as a "cute little shop in an unassuming mall" that is "beautifully decorated and upkept," reinforcing the positive impression of the environment. However, this reviewer did mention that the dish sizes were smaller than what they were accustomed to.

In summary, Dragon Palace Chinese Bistro on Daniel Island offers a sit-down Chinese dining experience with a diverse menu that includes lunch specials and a highly recommended Saturday dim sum brunch. While some dishes like the fried rice and egg roll received less favorable reviews, the Sweet and Sour Chicken, Beef in the Rib Kew, and particularly the Dim Sum are highlighted as being very good. The restaurant provides a pleasant and clean environment, and the staff are described as warm and helpful. For local users in Daniel Island and the surrounding Charleston area, Dragon Palace appears to be a worthwhile option, especially for those seeking a more traditional Chinese restaurant experience or a delicious dim sum brunch. While perhaps not a destination restaurant for those living far away, it offers solid and enjoyable Chinese cuisine in a welcoming setting.

Early voted in Daniel Island so checked out Dragon Palace for Lunch based on a recommendation from a friend. Overall it was good but nothing to knock your socks off. I wouldn’t drive from Goose Creek to DI for it. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was good. Nice larger pieces of Chicken and the batter was on point, crunchy light and fluffy. The Eye Kew was also good. Had good flavor but the highlight was the Beef as it was so tender. Dim Sum platter was great. You could tell these were hand made. Five different pieces, the Shu Mai and the Pork were the best. Very light, but flavorful Dumpling Sauce. The Fried Rice was lacking, just Rice and Soy Sauce. Nothing else to provide flavor. No vegetables, no seasoning. The Egg Roll was also lacking. Essentially a Fried Cabbage Roll as there was a tiny amount of pork in it. To the point I had to thoroughly search for those red Pork pieces after each bite. The Duck Sauce that was served with it was great though. These were Lunch Specials but added the Dim Sum and the Egg Roll. Portions were solid for the price of $12.99 per special. Dim Sum was $8.99 and the Egg Roll was $2.75. It was nice to see a sit down Chinese Restaurant rather than the typical Take Out Style places, especially with some of the originals in the area closing. As I said before, the meal was good but nothing to go crazy about. Highlights were the Dim Sum and the Beef in the Rib Kew. Everything else was average at best. I will give them credit for a wide range of items on the menu that you wouldn’t get at a typical Chinese Take Out Style place.

It's probably the only legit Chinese anywhere near Charleston! They have a cute little shop in an unassuming mall, which is beautifully decorated and upkept. The kicker is that on Saturdays, they do a dim sum brunch, and it absolutely rules. We got the mix of dumplings, rolls, and steamed dishes, and all were excellent. The host even made some recommendations, which all panned out and made us happy. All the staff were warm, and the entire facility was clean. Coming from a place with more asian options, my only complaint is the size of the dishes. We got about ten plates for two people, and I had a bowl of rice as well. I could have honestly kept eating, but it was all gone.

Wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to eat and headed over to the Palace. Always super good, great service, and impressive attention to detail. Ordered the savory spice chicken, was pleasantly surprised to discover it was a soup of sorts. Tender chicken, yummy broth, and scallions finely sliced with care. Got it Togo, the waiter was delightful. Thanks DP!

No lie, this is THE BEST Chinese food in Charleston! If you love soup, their House Wonton Soup is my absolute favorite. No other Wonton Soup compares. If you like meaty meals, try their Mongolian Beef and Chicken Dumplings.

Top tier! The food I ordered was outstanding. I can’t stand food that is over-salted and the Mongolian beef and Ginger shrimp was great! I look forward to coming back. One thing bothered me though. I went around 730pm on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty! Food that is this good should attract more people! What’s the matter with y’all?!
