About Dragon King Restaurant

Welcome to Dragon King Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant located at 21415 Vanowen St in Canoga Park, California. As a local establishment in the Chinese restaurant category, Dragon King Restaurant currently operates primarily as a takeout service for the Canoga Park community. While dine-in service is temporarily unavailable, customer reviews provide insights into the quality of their food, the friendliness of their staff, and the overall takeout experience.

One customer's recent lunch experience at Dragon King Restaurant was quite positive. They specifically mentioned Samy, who was working at the restaurant, as being "very nice" and helpful in explaining some of the dishes on the menu. Based on Samy's recommendation, the customer chose the Yu Hsiong shrimp, which they found to be "very tasty" with a "not bad" portion size. This suggests that Dragon King Restaurant offers flavorful dishes and reasonable portions. The customer also noted the speed of service, mentioning that the food was ready "in no time," which is a significant advantage for those seeking a quick takeout meal.

Interestingly, the same reviewer commented on the ambiance of the restaurant, noting that "the place is nice" and expressing a desire for dine-in service to resume so they could enjoy eating there and listening to the music. They even described the atmosphere as "kinda romantic," which suggests that the interior of Dragon King Restaurant has a pleasant and inviting aesthetic. This indicates that the lack of dine-in is a temporary situation that prevents customers from fully enjoying the intended dining experience.

The reviewer also mentioned the "wide variety" of dishes available on the menu, expressing their intention to return and try different options. This suggests that Dragon King Restaurant offers a diverse selection of Chinese cuisine, catering to various tastes and preferences. The hope for the resumption of dine-in service indicates a positive initial impression of the restaurant beyond just the food itself.

Another customer's review focused solely on the takeout food, as they noted that "No dine in" was available at the time of their visit, thus preventing them from commenting on service and atmosphere. This highlights the current operational status of Dragon King Restaurant as primarily a takeout establishment. Despite this limitation, the reviewer provided feedback on several dishes they tried.

The Crab Rangoon received a positive rating, described simply as "good." This popular appetizer is often a benchmark for Chinese takeout, and a positive review suggests a satisfactory preparation. The Orange Chicken was deemed "fairly good," but with a caveat that "some pieces had more orange flavor than others," indicating a potential inconsistency in flavor distribution within the dish. This is something for potential customers to be aware of.

The Black Pepper Beef was noted for having "lots of vegetables," which could be appealing to those who appreciate a generous amount of vegetables in their dishes. However, the reviewer would have preferred "more beef," suggesting an imbalance in the meat-to-vegetable ratio. The flavor of the black pepper beef was described as "good" but could have been "more peppery," indicating a personal preference for a stronger flavor profile.

The XO Sauce String Beans were less favorably reviewed, with the customer stating they "didn’t have much flavor." However, they did taste the sauce at the bottom of the container and found it to be "good," leading to a theory that "maybe the beans need to marinate more" to absorb the flavor. This suggests that while the components of the dish might be satisfactory, the overall flavor integration could be improved.

Despite the mixed feedback on individual dishes, this second reviewer expressed an intention to "try it again tomorrow and see if it tastes better," indicating a willingness to give Dragon King Restaurant another chance. Their overall conclusion was that "all in all, I’d say the food is kind of average," which presents a more neutral perspective compared to the first reviewer's more enthusiastic experience with the Yu Hsiong shrimp.

Based on these reviews, the current environment of Dragon King Restaurant is primarily geared towards takeout, although the interior seems to have a pleasant and potentially "romantic" ambiance that customers hope to experience again with the resumption of dine-in service. The services are currently focused on efficient takeout, with at least one staff member, Samy, being particularly helpful and friendly.

Features of Dragon King Restaurant include a wide variety of dishes on their menu, with the Yu Hsiong shrimp receiving high praise for its taste and portion size. The Crab Rangoon is also noted as good. Other dishes, like the Orange Chicken, Black Pepper Beef, and XO Sauce String Beans, received more mixed feedback regarding flavor consistency, ingredient ratios, and overall flavor intensity. The speed of service for takeout is highlighted as a positive aspect.

Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. They may also inquire about the potential reopening of their dine-in service and any related updates.

In conclusion, Dragon King Restaurant in Canoga Park currently operates as a takeout-focused Chinese restaurant. Customers have reported positive experiences with certain dishes like the Yu Hsiong shrimp and Crab Rangoon, as well as friendly and efficient service, particularly from a staff member named Samy. The restaurant's interior is described as nice and potentially romantic, with a hope for the resumption of dine-in service. Other dishes, such as the Orange Chicken, Black Pepper Beef, and XO Sauce String Beans, have received more varied feedback regarding flavor and preparation. With a wide variety of menu options available, Dragon King Restaurant offers a convenient takeout choice for local residents, and future dine-in experiences may offer an even more complete appreciation of the establishment. Yesterday I was around and decided to have Chinese food for lunch, Samy who was there is very nice and she explained a couple dishes and ended up choosing the Yu Hsiong shrimp which was very tasty and the portion is not bad, and the food was ready in no time, the place is nice but sadly they don't have dine in anymore , It would be really nice to eat there and listen to the music , the place to me looks kinda romantic, I will definitely need to go again and try a different dish, they had a wide variety, and hope they could reopen to dine in

No dine in so I won’t review service and atmosphere. Crab Rangoon was good. Orange chicken was fairly good but some pieces had more orange flavor than others. Black pepper beef had lots of vegetables and would have preferred more beef, flavor was good but could have been more peppery. Xo sauce string beans didn’t have much flavor, but I tasted the sauce in the bottom of the container and it was good so maybe the beans need to marinate more. I’ll try it again tomorrow and see if it tastes better. So, all in all, I’d say the food is kind of average.

I ordered the orange chicken lunch special (L7 I believe). It was orange chicken, fried rice or white rice, a soup option, an egg roll, and two wonton chips. I also ordered crab meat rangoon…total paid $20.10. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. The crab meat rangoon was good but a little skimpy on the feeling and the sweet n sour sauce was pretty tasty. I didn’t try the soup but my husband said the flower soup was better than the hot sour soup. The fried rice was very bland. I’m used to fried rice with carrots, peas, and onions. I asked if I could add shrimp but was told that I would have to purchase shrimp fried rice separately. It didn’t bother me but just informing whoever wants to know. I don’t really like Chinese food anymore but overall, the food was good.

I can't rate service or atmosphere since there is no dine in. We've gotten take-out many times from here. Last night is the last time I'll go there. We got three dinners. Mine was a ramen/BBQ pork dish. There were maybe 5, 1/8"x1x1.5" pieces is BBQ pork, one piece of broccoli, three slices of thin carrot and slices of watercress? The other dishes were terrible also. Not sure what happened.

I found this place on Yelp. I've passed by it many times, but it really doesn't have curb appeal inviting you to stop. However, the food is excellent! And the portions are generous. We had four different items, all very good, Especially the fried rice. It was nicely seasoned, and packed full of veggies, fried egg, etc. That's usually not the case at most places.
