About Dragon Flame Chinese Grill 龙焱烧烤

Dragon Flame Chinese Grill 龙焱烧烤, located at 909 E Lemon St in Tempe, is a Chinese restaurant that appears to offer a diverse menu, though recent buzz seems to center around its distinctive and viral desserts.

One of the standout features is their visually appealing pug-shaped dessert, described as a coconut milk cake. Customers have noted its impressive presentation, as it comes in a gift box with intricate detailing. While the coconut milk base might result in a milder flavor, it is considered a fun and unique experience for its price.

Another popular dessert is the "dragon's breath," which was reported to be tasty and another enjoyable experience. It seems these desserts are a significant draw for those seeking something different and novel.

Beyond the desserts, one reviewer who tried savory dishes like the cucumber salad, eggplant, and "around the world chicken" found everything to be well-seasoned. In fact, they rated the cucumber salad as one of their favorites, indicating that the restaurant also excels in traditional Chinese cuisine.

The restaurant itself is described as a somewhat smallish spot. However, a recent visitor noted that it wasn't busy during their visit, making it easy to find seating. Since we only stopped in for the viral desserts I'm going to leave my review at an average rating for the food. It was the daughter's birthday, so we wanted a special treat for her, and what better than this cute little pug. The presentation is awesome, as it comes in a gift box, and the detail of it is impressive. Since it's a coconut milk cake it's not super flavorful, but still a fun experience for the money :). I didn't get the other dessert (dragon's breath) photos but that one tasted good and was another fun experience for us. Be different and try someplace new.

Smallish spot, but when we went it wasn’t busy so we didn’t have to fight for a place. We ordered the cucumber salad, eggplant, and around the world chicken. Everything was well seasoned and this was one of my favorite cucumber salad spots, which is high praise coming from me.

If I can give this place negative stars, I would! Why? Health concerns eating this food!!!! (Pictures included). Maybe the college kids that beefed up their reviews are fooled, but I am confident they use a lot of food coloring/dye (which is cancerous to the younger folks who don’t understand) in the chicken. I ordered the pineapple chicken and both my tongue and hands were stained! You can even tell just by looking at the picture of the rice I included (after I laid some of the chicken on the rice) the degree of food dye in this food! Also, there’s a lot more corn starch than actual chicken in every piece of chicken. The business owner has a sign on the tables encouraging customers to text him/her pictures and complaints (picture included) guaranteeing they would fix any issues. Guess what? I did that, and they blocked me (picture of text included). I would never, ever eat here again!!!

I just had my first experience with the food here, and wow, it was fantastic! We had the chance to meet Mao, the owner, and you could really feel how passionate and joyful he is about his dishes. We tried the lemon chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, and steamed dumplings, and let me tell you, we left feeling full and happy. The owner even spotted that one of our dishes didn’t quite meet his standards, so he took it upon himself to whip up a fresh version! Although the first dish was tasty, the second one he really put his foot in it 10/10 lemon chicken.

Such a great place with an awesome atmosphere. Waitress was so sweet and prompt and recommended the Lemon Chicken, which was absolutely better than we could have imagined. I believe her name was Shelly? Anyways, the portions here are out of this world. We should not have finished everything on our plates, but we did. 😅
