About Dragon City
Dragon City, located at 393 Waller Ave UNIT 14, Lexington, KY 40504, USA, operates as a Chinese restaurant primarily serving the local community. It aims to provide Chinese cuisine, largely through convenient delivery and takeout services, to residents in the Lexington area.
For placing orders or general inquiries, Dragon City can be contacted by phone at (859) 407-3638. A mobile phone number is also available at +1 859-407-3638, providing accessible contact for customers.
As a Chinese restaurant primarily focused on delivery, Dragon City's physical environment likely prioritizes efficiency in food preparation and order fulfillment over a traditional dine-in experience. Located in a unit within a commercial complex, its setup would typically involve a kitchen area designed for high-volume cooking for off-premise consumption, along with a counter for order placement and pickup. The ambiance would generally be functional and utilitarian, with limited or no seating for dine-in customers, as is common for establishments that heavily rely on takeout and delivery models. Cleanliness in the food preparation areas and at the pickup counter would be the main environmental factors for customers to consider, as their interaction with the physical space would primarily be limited to the brief period of order collection. The focus is on providing a quick and convenient service, with the actual dining experience taking place in the customer's chosen location.
Dragon City's primary service offering is **delivery**, as indicated by multiple customer reviews. This focuses on bringing Chinese food directly to customers' homes or workplaces, emphasizing convenience. It is also highly probable that the restaurant offers **takeout** service, allowing customers to pick up their orders in person. The operational model appears to be geared towards rapid preparation and dispatch of orders, catering to the demand for quick and easy meals. Customers can likely place orders over the phone, and possibly through online platforms, though these are not explicitly detailed in the provided information. The core service revolves around the provision of prepared Chinese dishes for off-site consumption.
The cuisine offered by Dragon City includes a range of common American Chinese dishes. However, based on the provided customer reviews, there are significant and consistent concerns regarding the quality, freshness, and flavor profiles of many items.
Specific dishes and their noted issues include:
- Sweet and Sour Sauce: Described as "a straight liquid," "watered down," and tasting "awful." This indicates a fundamental flaw in the preparation of a staple Chinese-American condiment.
- Sweet and Sour Chicken: Tastes "frozen," suggesting a lack of freshness or improper preparation.
- Crab Rangoon: Consistently criticized across multiple attempts. Described as "chewy and soft," lacking "any good texture or flavor." One particularly alarming review stated it was "rancid," "tasted spoiled," and caused the reviewer to "spat it out and nearly threw up." This indicates serious concerns about food safety and quality control for this item.
- Scallops: Noted as "hard, overcooked and old," suggesting they "had been sitting for some time." This points to issues with freshness and proper cooking techniques.
The **only decent thing** one reviewer found were the **chicken wings**, implying a very limited range of palatable items. Overall, the consistent negative feedback across multiple dishes suggests a significant issue with the general quality and freshness of the food, which are critical features for any restaurant. The reviews strongly caution against ordering from this establishment, with a direct recommendation to "Please please please do not eat here if you value your stomach."
No specific promotional information, such as discounts, loyalty programs, or special offers, is detailed for Dragon City. Based on the customer reviews, the primary "promotion" in this context is through negative word-of-mouth, which acts as a strong deterrent rather than an attraction.
Customer experiences with Dragon City are overwhelmingly negative and highly critical, consistently highlighting severe issues with food quality and freshness.
- Food Quality Issues: Repeated complaints about the taste, texture, and freshness of various dishes.
- Sweet and Sour sauce being "watered down" and "awful."
- Sweet and Sour Chicken tasting "frozen."
- Crab Rangoon described as "chewy and soft," lacking flavor, and alarmingly, "rancid" and "spoiled," leading to near vomiting.
- Scallops being "hard, overcooked and old," indicating they had been "sitting for some time."
- Safety Concerns: The severe description of the crab rangoon being "rancid" and causing physical repulsion raises significant concerns about food safety and hygiene practices.
- Overall Dissatisfaction: Customers frequently state it's "the worst Chinese delivery I have ever had."
- Strong Recommendations Against Patronage: Phrases like "Please please please do not eat here if you value your stomach" and "This place would benefit more from being shut down" are direct and forceful warnings to potential diners.
- Limited Positives: The "only decent thing" mentioned by a reviewer was the "chicken wings," suggesting that nearly all other items failed to meet basic expectations.
The consistent nature of these highly critical reviews, with specific examples of poor quality and potential food safety issues, paints a very concerning picture of the customer experience at Dragon City. The reviews do not offer any positive counterpoints regarding food quality or service, other than the mere act of delivery taking place.
In conclusion, Dragon City in Lexington, KY, is a Chinese restaurant primarily offering delivery and takeout services. However, based on the provided customer reviews, potential diners should exercise extreme caution. The overwhelming feedback indicates significant issues with the quality, freshness, and taste of a wide range of dishes, including fundamental items like sweet and sour sauce, sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon, and scallops. Furthermore, serious concerns about food safety and potential spoilage have been raised by patrons. While the restaurant provides a delivery service, the consistently negative culinary experiences reported suggest that this establishment may not meet standard expectations for Chinese cuisine, with some reviewers strongly advising against patronage for health reasons.

Customer Reviews
Ordered delivery The Sweet and Sour sauce is a straight liquid. It's not saucy, is watered down, and tastes awful. The Sweet and sour chicken tastes frozen The Crab Rangoon was chewy and soft, did not have any good texture or flavor. This is the worst Chinese delivery I have ever had. Second try: crab rangoon still tastes awful
Man. I've never had a bad Rangoon. It was rancid. Like it tasted spoiled. One bite and i spat it out and nearly threw up. Scallops were hard, overcooked and old. You can tell it had been sitting for some time. Only decent thing I had was chicken wings. Please please please do not eat here if you value your stomach. This place would benefit more from being shut down.
When I received my food it looked old and it was very soggy. Crab ragoons are normally crispy. They also didn't give me the side of garlic sauce I requested for my chicken. So I was stuck with a plate of food that was useless to me. I did get my money back and I will NEVER eat here again. You've been warned.
They are very friendly and accommodate requests. As many Chinese restaurants cook for the American, the food can be sweet and not very spicy. But if you put in comments, less sweet/more heat, they will do it! One of the better Chinese restaurants on our side of town.
I asked locals in Lexington where the best Chinese food could be found. They said Dragon City. They were not wrong. It was made to order and divine! I got sweet and sour chicken and crab ragoons. The ragoons were not overly sweet, which I loved. It came with a veggie spring roll full of cabbage and fried rice. Great food, I couldn’t eat it all, so I put it in the air fret to heat up when I got home and it was even better. The restaurant is small and not much to talk about. The staff were very friendly. The food was divine!! Vegan, vegetarian options Ok on kid friendly scale Not really wheel chair accessible, you could get one in but not down the hallway. Best to pick up a take out order or door dash if you use a wheelchair.
