About Dragon Cafe

Dragon Cafe is a Chinese Restaurant located at 8078 S 84th St, La Vista, NE 68128, serving the local area. They can be contacted at (402) 597-6169 or via mobile at +1 402-597-6169 for inquiries.

Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at Dragon Cafe have been varied. Several reviewers have expressed significant dissatisfaction with the food quality. One customer described the spring rolls as excessively oily. Another detailed issues with the Mei Fun, noting it was overly salty, contained too much MSG, lacked sufficient seasoning like ginger, and included what they perceived as old and stringy chicken. They also mentioned a gummy texture in the noodles, suggesting overcooking and insufficient oil during preparation.

Further reviews of dishes like the Dragon and Phoenix also raised concerns. One reviewer found the beef in this dish to be tender, unlike the chicken in the Mei Fun, but noted the brown sauce was too sweet and reminiscent of barbecue sauce. The shrimp in the same dish were described as being saturated in a simple garlic sauce with excessive MSG. Overall, this customer stated they would not recommend spending money at Dragon Cafe, suggesting there are better Asian food options available and that this restaurant fell below the standard of a typical Asian fast-food establishment.

Another customer described the food as "the most mid Chinese food" they had experienced in the Omaha area, noting that three different dishes ordered tasted very similar, and a dish that was supposed to be spicy lacked any noticeable heat. This reviewer did mention that the service was quick and the spring rolls were decent, providing a slightly more positive note amidst the negative feedback on the main dishes.

Given the information available from online reviews, it appears that customer experiences at Dragon Cafe have been largely negative, with concerns raised about food preparation, ingredient quality, and flavor balance, particularly regarding excessive salt and MSG. While one reviewer noted quick service and decent spring rolls, the overall consensus suggests potential issues with the main dishes. Local users considering dining at Dragon Cafe may want to take these recent reviews into account.

Spring rolls were oily, inside and out. I asked to make sure it was egg rolls. He said they were the same, however these were made of rice paper and not flour, but I digress. The Mei Fun was heavily salted. Way too much msg and not enough seasoning. Not even a hint of ginger. The chicken was also old, and stringy, meaning it wasn’t hydrated long enough with the cornstarch slurry which would have rejuvenated the chicken. The noodles had a gummy texture meaning the noodles were over cooked during the stirfry and not enough oil was added for the light sear. The meat portion was fair. 4/10 The Dragon and Phoenix, basically deep fried tender beef tossed in brown sauce separated by broccoli from jumbo shrimp also deep fried and tossed in a simple garlic sauce. The shrimp were swimming in the sauce, also doused in msg. The beef was tender like the chicken should have been from the mei fun. The beef sauce was a bit too sweet and was drily familiar to bbq, Just saying. The portion was ok. 4/10 Overall I wouldn’t spend my money here. There are better options and fell below par for the typical Asian fast food restaurant. I was expecting midrange and hoping for a notch above. I’m very disappointed and think this restaurant is cutting corners when it comes to prepping their food and is heavy handed with the salt and msg in place of the Asian trio garlic ginger and spring onion. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are using bullion or store bought chicken stock for their base stock, which would explain all the salt. There is no pride I this food and the oily spring roll immediately hurt my stomach. It may look good but trust me, skip this one.

The most mid Chinese food that I’ve had in the Omaha area. Ordered three different dishes and they all tasted the same. One was supposed to be spicy, I don’t think a single chile pepper was in the kitchen when it was made. Service was quick and the Spring rolls are decent.

Staff was very friendly, I just hate how everything else followed. Very long wait. Waitress was sweet but forgot several items we ordered and charged us extra for something we didn't order but by that time we were fed up and didn't want to wait anymore time to have the extra 2$ removed. Food is just not a pleasant experience. Pan fried dumplings were raw, crab roll was sour, chicken's sauce was nasty. I've never just left so much food on my plate before. I won't go back.

We ordered two dishes from this store, "vegetable delicacy" and "Amazing chicken" from this restaurant via Uber eats for our Friday night. The vegetable delicacy has bamboo shoots , chest nuts, broccoli, baby corn and mushrooms. While rest of the vegetables tasted okay in a white sauce, broccoli and baby corn stood out. Broccoli completely tasted different , as if they were taken out of a non-veg dish and put into this one. They tasted so bizarre (like from a meat broth)! Do you really think a vegetarian can not figure that out ? On top on that, while some of the baby corns tasted okay (from can though), some tasted really sour, they must be from a unused can which was kept out for a while and the product has gone bad. Please don't do that with food ! You are charging for that ! You don't even have to chop the vegetables, you get packets and put them into the gravy, so please be respectful! The baby corn in the chicken dish also tasted extremely sour. :(

Dragon Cafe offers an extensive menu of both Chinese and Japanese cuisine. There are numerous salads, soups and appetizers to go either the main course options. Many items come in two sizes, for lunch or for dinner. There is a nice luncheon sushi discount as well on about a dozen popular rolls. Service is friendly but can become slow when they are short staffed, which was the case on my most recent lunchtime visit. The atmosphere is much more pleasant and relaxed than at most area Chinese storefront restaurants. I have always loved the food, which has been consistently good since they first opened maybe two decades ago. I like mixing it up between the Chinese and Japanese menu selections. There is something sure to please almost anyone on their menu.
