About Dragon Buffet
Welcome to Dragon Buffet, a Chinese restaurant situated at 8170 S Tryon St in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a Chinese restaurant operating as a buffet, Dragon Buffet typically offers a wide selection of Chinese-American dishes presented in a self-service format. This allows diners to sample various items from different food stations, which may include appetizers, main courses featuring a variety of meats and vegetables, soups, and desserts. Based on recent customer feedback, it is important to consider the reported experiences regarding the quality and freshness of the food offered at Dragon Buffet.
Details about the specific ambiance and environment of Dragon Buffet are not extensively covered in the provided reviews. However, Chinese buffet restaurants generally aim to provide a casual and spacious dining area suitable for accommodating a large number of customers and the buffet setup. The focus is typically on functionality and accessibility to the various food stations.
The primary feature of Dragon Buffet is its buffet service, which includes a variety of Chinese dishes. According to one customer review, the buffet also offers sushi. However, this reviewer reported that the sushi appeared to be old, with the color from the seaweed seeping into the rice to such an extent that it was deemed inedible and could not even be placed on their plate. This raises significant concerns about the freshness and quality control of the sushi offered at the buffet.
The same reviewer also described an experience where fresh spring rolls and egg rolls were brought out. Unfortunately, these freshly presented items were reported to be soggy, indicating a potential issue with their preparation or perhaps they were not adequately drained after frying. This suggests that even items brought out directly from the kitchen may not meet expectations in terms of texture and quality.
Further negative feedback from this customer concerned the gravy, which was described as looking like it had been sitting out for an extended period. Upon stirring it, the appearance reportedly worsened. This observation points to potential issues with food holding times and maintaining the quality and visual appeal of the dishes on the buffet line.
Based on these experiences, the reviewer concluded that Dragon Buffet was "probably one of the worse buffets I’ve ever been to" and stated they would never eat there again. The only positive aspect mentioned by this customer was the waitress, who was described as "nice and kind," indicating that while the food experience was poor, the service from at least one staff member was commendable.
Another customer who recently visited Dragon Buffet also expressed extreme disappointment. They reported that the food had a "terrible taste" overall. Additionally, they noted that the machine-made drinks were "flat and unappealing," suggesting issues with the beverage quality as well. This second negative review reinforces the concerns about the overall quality of both the food and drinks offered at Dragon Buffet.
This reviewer strongly recommended avoiding Dragon Buffet, advising others that it is "just not worth it" if they are looking for quality food and beverages. This direct and negative assessment from two separate customers highlights significant shortcomings in the dining experience at Dragon Buffet.
Information regarding specific signature dishes or features beyond the buffet and sushi is limited in these reviews. The mention of spring rolls and egg rolls suggests that standard Chinese appetizers are part of the buffet offerings. However, the negative feedback on these items, as well as the sushi and gravy, makes it difficult to identify any consistently praised culinary aspects of Dragon Buffet.
Similarly, details about current promotional offers at Dragon Buffet are not available in the provided customer reviews. This sushi is so old the color from the seaweed was seeping into the rice. Couldn’t even but it on my plate. This guy brought out fresh spring and egg rolls. And they were soggy. Right from the back and they were terrible. The gravy looked like it had been sitting around all damn day I stirred it up and it looked worse. Probably one of the worse buffets I’ve ever been to. I ended up eating two plates of crab Rangoon‘s because that was the only good thing they had. I’ll never eat here again. The waitress was nice and kind.
I recently visited this place and was extremely disappointed. The food had a terrible taste, and the machine-made drinks were flat and unappealing. I strongly recommend avoiding this spot if you’re looking for quality food and beverages. It’s just not worth it.
We arrived in Charlotte NC on a Friday night kind of late after 8ish. We were there for the weekend trip to Carowinds to celebrate my daughter’s 13th birthday. After we checked into our hotel we headed out looking for something to eat for dinner. My Husband, who loves Chinese food remembered seeing this restaurant from our many visits to Charlotte. As soon as we entered the restaurant I noticed that it was clean and didn’t smell damp of musky. We were seated immediately and not required to pay before dining. That’s a great policy to have. I don’t like being treated like I’m going to dine and dash. The food was delicious and there was plenty of fresh warm food on the buffet bar. There was a lot of food to choose from but not too much food to be overwhelming. I didn’t get the feeling like they were just putting low quality bland food on the bar just to have more selections. Everything I had was delicious despite it being past 9pm at the time. The waitress was attentive and checked on us regularly removing plates and refilling our beverages. Sunday afternoon after we checked out of our hotel we dined there again because my other daughter requested it for lunch. Again, not disappointed and we were able to see the restaurant in the light of day. Same great food and great service. We will dine there again the next time we are in Charlotte.
This is the only Chinese buffet around that I don’t end up in the bathroom right after eating. The people are all very nice, servers never let your drink get empty. There might not be as big of a variety as jasmine or ginza but the food all has flavor and is really yummy! Much better priced than others too. We have been for lunch and dinner numerous times and the food has always been fresh and service great. Would definitely recommend! Just don’t go expecting a different buffet and actually appreciate what they do have. The Vietnamese rolls, fantasy chicken, sesame chicken, crab rangoon, broccoli and shrimp biscuits are all my favorites here!! Yum!
The impression of the place is ruined by the staff, more specifically by a female waitress who doesn’t let you finish your meal, is always hovering around and doesn’t allow you to eat in peace, and is constantly unhappy with her tips. The food is usually not fresh. I won’t be coming back there again.
