About Dragon Bowl

Dragon Bowl is a Chinese restaurant located at 400 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215, offering a fast food style approach to Chinese cuisine. Despite its fast-food format, some customers find the food surprisingly authentic, with one reviewer from Shanghai noting the availability of Shanghai bok choy, a rarity in other Chinese food stalls. This suggests that Dragon Bowl provides a taste of home-style Chinese cooking, offering a balanced meal at an affordable price point, around $13 for a 3-course meal.

A notable feature of Dragon Bowl is their observance of Chinese holidays, during which they offer special dishes, providing a unique cultural touch. While one reviewer mentioned potential communication issues, another who spoke Mandarin did not experience this. However, a consistent observation is the "overly enthusiastic" customer service. Customers have reported feeling pressured to order, with staff actively offering free samples and using gestures to encourage immediate selection. While this approach might feel pushy to some, the staff is generally considered nice and willing to let customers taste various dishes.

However, not all reviews are entirely positive. One customer described the lo mein as plain and doughy, and the orange chicken as excessively sweet and salty, becoming tiresome quickly. This reviewer also felt that the price did not justify the quality and quantity of food received, suggesting that better options might be available for a similar price.

In summary, Dragon Bowl offers an affordable and, for some, surprisingly authentic Chinese fast food experience with dishes like Shanghai bok choy and holiday specials. Customers should be prepared for a very proactive and enthusiastic approach to customer service. While some dishes receive high praise for their authenticity and value, others may not meet all expectations in terms of taste and value.

Surprisingly authentic Chinese food given that it's a fast food style food stall. I'm from Shanghai and growing up eating bok choy, and this place serves Shanghai bok choy almost everyday. The only Chinese food stall where I can find balance meal with good home taste. The price is pretty affordable, with around $13 for a 3 course meal. They even have holiday special dishes when there is a Chinese holiday. I haven't experienced the communication issue that others mentioned cuz I spoke Mandarin. The only issue is the "overly enthusiastic" customer service. They are very good at pressuring you to order from them. As long as you walk by, or take one single look at their food, you'll notice a free food sample poking at you, and they also did it through gesture, like picking up the plate waiting for you to choose immediately. It almost made me feel bad to not order from them. But overall, still very nice people there, and will let you taste every single dish if you wish.

The lo mein is literally like sweet doughy noodles.. that are really plain. The orange chicken is overly both sweet and salty and it’s something you’re going to get tired of chewing on immediately. And the price for the food you are getting is definitely not worth it.. theres a lot you can get for $16!

Came back from the hospital looking for some pick-me-up food and I was not disappointed. Relatively affordable for a college student, friendly servers who are patient, and good food. Thank you for making my day better :)

When you get food notice that you don't really get any protein. Its a lot of fried dough coated in sauce. Flavor is good they are basically selling you chunks of fried dough with minimal meat

Workers really struggle with communication. Good luck conveying anything that requires more than pointing. I tried my best, but they were just not putting the right food on the plate. Ended up going somewhere else. Other places in the food court have no issues with getting your order right.
