Based on glowing customer reviews, Dragon Beaux is a destination for those seeking top-notch dim sum and attentive service.
The environment of Dragon Beaux is consistently praised for its "nice, elegant ambiance." One reviewer specifically mentioned being fortunate to secure "booth seating with nice padded benches and carved stone accents," attributing this to making reservations in advance. This suggests that the restaurant offers a sophisticated and comfortable dining space, with attention paid to aesthetic details that enhance the overall experience. The fact that there was a queue waiting even 15 minutes before opening on a Saturday morning indicates the popularity of the restaurant and the anticipation of diners eager to enjoy their offerings.
The services at Dragon Beaux are characterized by attentiveness and efficiency. Unlike traditional dim sum restaurants with rolling carts, Dragon Beaux operates on a made-to-order system where items are selected from a menu and brought directly to the table, ensuring that each dish is served hot and fresh from the kitchen. The staff is commended for their "excellent and attentive" service and their fluency in both English and Chinese, catering to a diverse clientele. Additionally, the restaurant accommodates takeout for those who order generously to sample a variety of dishes, with staff expertly packing up leftovers at the table. The availability of reservations, as suggested by the reviewer who secured booth seating, indicates a service that allows diners to plan their visit and potentially secure preferred seating.
Several features distinguish Dragon Beaux as a premier dim sum destination. One notable feature is the "great selection of teas to order," suggesting a thoughtful curation of tea offerings to complement the meal. The made-to-order system ensures the freshness and quality of each dish, a departure from the potential staleness of items on a rolling cart. The menu boasts a "great selection of items, from the typical traditional items to some more unique items," catering to both those seeking familiar favorites and those looking for innovative dim sum creations. The homemade chilli sauce is also highlighted as "top tier" by one enthusiastic reviewer, indicating a special condiment that enhances the dining experience.
Popular and highly recommended dishes at Dragon Beaux include the "fried sea bass cubes," the "spinach sesame flatbread," the "crispy roast pork," and the "beef brisket stew on rice rolls." These items are specifically mentioned as favorites by a satisfied customer, showcasing the variety and quality of the savory options available. Another reviewer listed several enjoyed dishes, including "shrimp rice rolls (cheong fun)," "har gow (shrimp dumplings)," "jumbo scallop siu mai," "chicken wings," "egg yolk custard bun," "xlb (xiao long bao - soup dumplings)," and "chinese broccoli." This further illustrates the breadth of their dim sum menu and the positive reception of a wide range of items.
While the majority of the feedback is overwhelmingly positive, one reviewer noted that the experience is "expensive but amazing dim sum!" acknowledging a higher price point but justifying it with the quality of the food. They mentioned that "all but one of the dishes were tasty" and that the "food came out quickly," suggesting efficient service despite the made-to-order approach. This indicates that while Dragon Beaux may be a splurge, it is perceived as worth the cost for a guaranteed good dim sum experience, particularly for special occasions.

A wonderful place for top notch dim sum! Arrived 15 minutes before opening and there was a queue already waiting on. Saturday morning. Every party in line was seated when the doors opened. Nice, elegant ambiance. We were lucky to get the booth seating with nice padded benches and carved stone accents. I'm guessing it's because we made reservations in advance. Great selection of teas to order. No rolling carts, items are ordered from the menu and brought to your table. Great selection of items, from the typical traditional items to some more unique items. All were delicious, served hot fresh from the kitchen. Our favorites include the fried sea bass cubes, spinach sesame flatbread, crispy roast pork, and beef brisket stew on rice rolls. Service was excellent and attentive. The staff were fluent in both English and Chinese. We ordered a lot to sample the dishes but took the remainder home. Staff expertly packed up the food for us at the table. Well worth the trip and treat for a great meal.
expensive but amazing dim sum! all but one of the dishes were tasty and food came out quickly. if you’re willing to spend a little more to ensure good dim sum, dragon beaux is the spot. special shoutout to their homemade chilli sauce, top tier! would come again on special occasions. enjoyed: shrimp rice rolls, har gow, jumbo scallop siu mai, chicken wings, egg yolk custard bun, xlb, chinese broccoli would skip: egg tarts, pork rice rolls, chive dumplings
We came to Dragon Beaux after seeing fellow Vinkin's beautiful food photos. That guy is pretty awesome. The main attraction was the sand storm crab $49. At my age, it is hard to find something new. I've never heard of sand storm crab before. It was a deep fried crab with cilantro, minced garlic, scallions, peppers and fermented black beans. Fermented black beans is typically used in dishes like stir-fried clams. The sand storm crab was not bad. It was really oily. Still, tasty nevertheless. The other two dishes we had were the seafood crispy noodles $24 and honey pepper wings $13. Both were OK. The bonus was the free unexpected ice cream at the end of the meal. The restaurant is clean, no wait on a Tuesday night with excellent service and a speedy kitchen. Great meal.
Came here for a birthday dinner - we ordered the Chinese banquet course menu and everything was absolutely delicious. We had the classic meats from char siu pork, Hainanese chicken, Peking duck, crispy pork belly, along with fish maw soup, abalone with mushrooms, beef with peppers, fried rice, etc. Not one dish was a miss. I visited a while ago for their dim sum and found it to be just okay for the price. But now I’ll be coming back for their regular dinner menus.
The Dragon Beaux...It's right there on the corner of 21st Ave and Geary...you can't miss it he tells me! Then he tells me since you're coming over anyway ...Stop there and snag some Chinese food, enough for 4 people, I'm kind of hungry! Good old Link Applegate sure has a way of getting free food. Link asked me for some help with his neighbor's unruly Wolverine pups because they keep digging under his fence and tearing up his kumquat trees, then he asks me to bring him food! What a pal. Well, we had an Amazing lunch from the Dragon Beaux, the sweet and sour meatballs were especially delicious served over perfectly cooked rice. After we ate, Link tossed the pork rib and chicken bones out the window into his backyard along with some other table scraps because he says that's how Canadians clean up! And..That's when I told him about hungry Wolverines tearing things up when they can't get enough food. It was right then and there that he realized he was the cause of the nighttime marauders. Man-O-Man those sweet and sour meatballs sure were Amazing! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆
