About Dragon 89

Welcome to Dragon 89, a Chinese restaurant located at 610 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10024, USA, serving the Upper West Side community and beyond through delivery services. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Dragon 89 aims to provide a range of classic Chinese dishes. However, based on recent customer reviews, the restaurant appears to be facing challenges in delivering consistent quality and flavor across its menu.

One customer who ordered the Mei Feng Singapore noodles for delivery expressed significant dissatisfaction with their meal. Despite claiming to rarely write reviews, this customer felt compelled to share their negative experience, describing the dish as "boiled spaghetti with zero flavor and zero meat/veggies." This harsh assessment suggests a complete lack of the expected ingredients and taste profile for a Singapore noodles dish, which typically includes rice vermicelli, shrimp, char siu pork, vegetables, and a flavorful curry-based sauce. The reviewer explicitly advised against ordering this particular item, while cautiously suggesting that other dishes might be better.

Another customer echoed the sentiment of declining quality in Chinese food in New York City and found their order from Dragon 89 to be similarly disappointing. They reported that the food arrived warm but "tasteless with no flavor at all." This broad critique encompassed multiple dishes they ordered, including fried chicken wings, beef lo mein, shrimp fried rice, and scallion pancakes. The reviewer found the overall experience to be "very disappointing" and regretted their order, wishing they had chosen something else.

Among the dishes ordered by this second customer, the scallion pancakes were identified as the only item with potential, suggesting they "might taste good if I reheat it." However, even these were noted to have arrived "oily and soggy," indicating issues with their preparation and likely texture. The negative feedback on multiple standard Chinese-American dishes raises concerns about the overall culinary execution at Dragon 89.

The fact that this dissatisfied customer was "honestly surprised they have higher ratings" suggests a significant discrepancy between their experience and the general perception of the restaurant based on its overall rating. This could indicate inconsistency in food quality over time or between different menu items, or it might reflect a difference in expectations or preferences among diners.

Neither of the provided reviews offers any insight into the environment of Dragon 89, as one pertains to a delivery order and the other focuses solely on the quality of the delivered food. Therefore, local users have no information about the restaurant's ambiance, cleanliness, or décor if they were to dine in (assuming this is an option). Similarly, there are no comments on the service provided, either for delivery or in-house dining, beyond the implicit aspect of fulfilling the order.

The features of Dragon 89, based on the limited reviews, include a menu that offers standard Chinese-American fare such as Singapore noodles, fried chicken wings, beef lo mein, shrimp fried rice, and scallion pancakes. The fact that delivery service is available is also a key feature for customers in the surrounding area. However, the inconsistent and largely negative feedback on the quality and flavor of several dishes is a significant point to consider.

There is no mention of any promotional offers, lunch specials, or other deals in the provided reviews. Local users interested in Dragon 89 would need to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers ((212) 222-6511 and +1 212-222-6511) to inquire about their menu, services (including dine-in availability), and any current promotions that might be running.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Dragon 89 on Amsterdam Ave in New York City paint a concerning picture regarding the quality and flavor of their food, particularly for delivery orders. The Singapore noodles were described as a significant disappointment, and other standard dishes like fried chicken wings, beef lo mein, and shrimp fried rice were reported to be tasteless. Even the scallion pancakes, the only item with potential according to one reviewer, suffered from poor texture. The lack of information about the restaurant's environment and in-house service, coupled with the negative feedback on the food, suggests that potential local users should exercise caution and perhaps consider alternative Chinese restaurants in the area, or at least inquire further about the current quality and preparation methods at Dragon 89 before placing an order.

My Mei Feng Singapore noodles I got delivered. I never review places, but this is a joke. This was boiled spaghetti with zero flavor and zero meat/veggies. Maybe their other food is good but don't order this.

I feel like quality Chinese food is just a memory in NYC. The food arrived warm and tasteless with no flavor at all. I ordered fried chicken wings, beef lo mein , shrimp fried rice, and scallion pancakes. The only thing that might taste good if I reheat it are the scallion pancakes that arrived oily and soggy. Very disappointing I should have ordered something else. I’m honestly surprised they have higher ratings.

The reviews don’t lie. Solid Chinese food on The Upper West Side. Order online or at the kiosk inside. A couple of small tables if you want to eat in but it’s mostly take out. Dishes come with a nice amount of protein and assorted vegetables. Prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Love that there’s a good take out so close to my place.

My husband brought me some food from this restaurant tonight, and it was everything I wanted and more. Everything was fresh and tasty. The vegetables were not soggy. They had the perfect balance of soft and crunchy, and the sauce ratio was perfection. I can't wait to try their other dishes.

Ordered for my first time. The guy at the counter was friendly. The Chicken & Mixed Vegetables was a very generous portion and very good. Spring Rolls were excellent, crispy with very tasty filling. Pan Fried Chicken Dumplings were very tasty but should have been cooked a little longer, they were half crunchy and half soggy. I really liked the dipping sauce. I wish they would add my favorite dish, pan fried noodles with chicken and mixed vegetables. I'll be back.
